Miles & Madeline - Fantastic Fables

The battle was at its peak. King Gilbert was encircled by several of his brave men. His army was losing ground. The clashing of swords was heard even in the King’s camp. Under the shadow of arrows, King Gilbert and his commanders were pondering their next strategy.

My Lord! You have to save yourself. You should leave right now, and we will hold them for a while, said one of his commanders.

    But where? Madeline asked.

Towards our close friend’s land, King left the camp.

The King left with Madeline and some of his soldiers. His Commanders were holding the enemy back. But an opposing soldier saw them leaving and followed by an alternate route. They were climbing a hill on their horses. The enemy soldier was an expert archer and found them at a distance. He aimed at the King and shot the arrow.

Suddenly, Madeline came in between, and the arrow went away, slicing her arm. She lost balance because of the hit and fell from the cliff.

    MADELINE! The King shouted.

As King Gilbert came down from his horse and ran towards Madeline, one of his soldiers said, My Lord! We don’t have much time. We have to leave, otherwise, they will follow and get us before we reach King Wilson’s territory.

King Gilbert had to leave with tears of sorrow, and his heart drowned in grief. He had promised his daughter that he would protect her no matter what happened. But fate was not on his side that
