About this ebook

There’s a road, just outside of town. The road is straight and level for a while, through a flat, level area and then goes, still straight, into an area of canyons.
According to usually reliable witnesses, a yellow Corvette and a Red Viper V-10 matched up for a drag race. Each car had over 600 horsepower and speeds of well over 100 miles per hour were expected before the end of the first quarter mile. The cars proved to be evenly matched and they reached the end of the first quarter mile side by side, with no clear winner. The drivers kept on the throttle and the cars were going at least 150 mile per hour, when a tire blew out on the Viper. The Viper went off the road and down into a deep canyon. It was a time to die.
The yellow Corvette continued on down the road and disappeared, in the distance.
The police were called and they investigated the scene of the crash.
I was awakened from a sound sleep and arrested. I was informed that I had been street racing in my yellow Willys and that there had been a death. I was permitted to dress, before they hauled my ass down to the city jail. While I dressed, I made a call to a lawyer that I had on retainer, via my Aardvark Computer Specialists benefit plan. To my eventual rescue, the late working lawyer sent a very junior law clerk to my house and the law clerk took a key temperature.
I was fingerprinted and signed in to the city jail. The police wanted to question me, right away, under the legal theory, ‘guilty until proven innocent.’
I refused to answer any questions until I talked to my lawyer.
I was, more or less, thrown into a cell and left, “Until you come to your senses.”
I waited for a bit and then I was threatened, through the bars of my cell, by an ass hole in civilian clothes. It seemed that I had killed his son and I would be put to death in, ‘the electric chair.’
The police finally came and wrestled ass hole civilian away from my cell.
Other than the threat against my life, nothing much else happened, through the night.
In the morning, I was extracted from my cell by four police officers and frog marched into some kind of interview room. I sat there, with lights shining in my eyes and told the police that I had nothing to say, until I talked with my lawyer.
Suddenly the same ass hole who threatened me during the night was in the interview room. Ass hole was going to kill me,with his hands. Suddenly ass hole was joined by a woman who was going to kill, “the boy who murdered my son!”
About this time, my lawyer showed up. My lawyer snarled hate at the police and demanded that I be removed from, “This circus.”
People shouted at one another for a while.
Finally I got frogmarched into a room with a bed and an adjoining bathroom. I lie on the bed and stare at the ceiling. After a while, my lawyer comes into the room.
My lawyer says, “A witness says that you street raced your Willys against a Viper V-10, there was a crash and the driver of the Viper died, after he ran off the road.”
I lecture my lawyer, “My Willys hot rod has maybe 200 horsepower. A Viper V-10 has maybe 600 horsepower. Can you convince a jury that I raced my 200 horsepower Willys hot rod against a 600 horsepower Viper V-10?”
My lawyer looks thoughtful and then says, “Not likely.”
I ask, “You tell me that, ‘A witness says that you street raced your Willys against a Viper V-10.’ There was just one witness to the alleged race?”
My lawyer looks thoughtful and says, “You’re telling me that a race involving a Viper V-10 would be an event, with more than just one witness.”
I ask, “Where did the race take place?”
My Lawyer says, “Out on Rural Road 11.”
I lecture my lawyer, “A race involving a Viper V-10 would be an event, with more than just one witness. The pre event would most likely take place at Hamburger Lane. With quite a bit of jawing first. The contestants would most likely have been a yellow Corvette, with a 427 cubic inc

I'm the co-author, with Sunset Thomas, of Anatomy of An Adult Film.I have 48 novels and over 299 short stories currently published.I spent my early years in the part of Los Angeles known as the South Central. I was known as Whi' Boy, which was sufficient to identify me in that place. I'm a skilled Kung Fu player, using a system that I learned from a Korean I knew only as 'Pak.' It would be easier to tell you the places that Pak wasn't wanted by the police, rather than the places where he was wanted by the police. Pak's Kung Fu system, augmented by some bits and pieces from some Chinese practitioners is quick and effective, or I wouldn't be alive today. My early education was mostly obtained by stealing books from the public library (I always returned them and the Librarian even began to provide me with reading lists.) I did go to high schools, but I never really learned anything there. I eventually graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA, with a degree in mathematics.I work as a Systems Analyst and also make a part of my living as a professional gambler (legal in Nevada.) I write science fiction and erotica. My published novels are:Anatomy of An Adult Film (With Sunset Thomas)1. Second Chance: God Killer2. Second Chance: Sky Pirate3. Second Chance: Scroll Seeker4.
