WHY IS PUBLIC SPEAKING
IMPORTANT?
In today's environment, we are continually swamped with good and bad messages. Regardless of where you live, where you work or go to school, and what type of media you use, you're likely to be exposed to hundreds of people. There are thousands of advertising messages every day. Researcher Norman W. Edmund estimates that the amount of world knowledge will double every 73 days by 2020. Edmond, N.W.
(2005). End the most significant educational and intellectual mistake in history: a $ 100,000 challenge for leaders in education. Lauderdale, Fort Florida: Scientific Method Publishing Co. Because we live in a world overwhelmed with content, it is more important than ever to communicate information in a way that is accessible to others. To better understand why public speaking important, you should first consider public speaking in everyday life. Then we discuss how public Speaking can help you personally. Daily Public Speaking Every day, people from the United States and around the world speak and stand in front of a specific audience. In fact, there is also a monthly publication entitled
Vital Speeches of the Day
(http://www.vsotd.com) that captures some of the top speeches in the United States.
There are many different types of public Speaking, but they can generally be divided into three categories: informative, compelling, and entertaining based on their intended purpose.

Local community groups may want to learn about volunteering in New Orleans during the spring vacation. Or
you would like your classmates to share their expertise in Mediterranean cuisine. Common to all of these examples is the goal of conveying information to the public.
Informational speech is integrated into many different professions. Doctors often teach medical students, other doctors and patients about specialties. Teachers give presentations to both parents and students. Firefighters show how house fires can be effectively combated.
Informative Speaking is a common part of many jobs and other daily activities. As a result, learning to speak effectively has become an essential skill in today's world. Convincing Speaking A second common reason to speak to an audience is to convince others. In our daily lives we often convince and motivate others or in other ways to change their beliefs, take action and rethink their decisions. To promote music education in your local school district and encourage customers to buy corporate products or encourage students to college, you
