About this ebook

A storm, a seduction, a hidden identity . . . and a human with no idea what he just took home.

Colby Masters is a human in Shifter Town. To survive, he's had to become stronger, smarter and more deadly than the deadliest predators. So, rescuing a stray kitten from a stormy night doesn't mesh with his at-your-own-risk demeanor, but he just can't say no to those big golden eyes.

One problem: she's not a kitten.

And taking her home was no accident.

Now he has to contend with fevered dreams, midnight sin, and Heaven's Gate. Each more seductive than the last.

Then there's the Summer Solstice. It's a full moon. The wolves are running with the lions, and Shifter Town is a den of secrets. Secrets that push Colby towards a lethal reckoning with a woman who may not be real and an enemy determined to destroy them both.

Midnight Sin is a Short Story set in the bestselling Shifter Town world. It features Novalee Swan's trademark heat and emotional intensity and is perfect for readers who love sexy shifter romance and small-town charm. If you thought lions, tigers and bears were hot, wait until you meet Colby. Being human has never been so sinful.

Midnight Sin can be enjoyed as a standalone, but for readers who prefer chronological order, it's set after the events of Ever Unbroken (Shifter Town, Book 5).

    Chapter 1

Awhisper of seduction drew Colby’s gaze through the shadows. He followed it toward the dartboard nailed to the rough brick wall on the far side of the bar. His hands stilled around the glass he was polishing.

    She was here again.

    On Summer Solstice.

Which meant there was going to be trouble.

It was Monday, so it should have been a quiet, lazy night. That is, if any night could be considered quiet or lazy at the most popular watering hole in Rosewood—or Shifter Town, as the locals called it. But unlike Saturday, when he’d had to throw a trashed Siberian tiger out on his ass, or Sunday, when he’d had to break up a fight between two mean ole grizzlies, tonight promised to be tame.

    A false promise, it seemed.

Colby slowly began to polish the glass again while keeping an eye on the hunt unfolding. He didn’t feign disinterest. Sometimes, knowing they were under observation was enough to curtail barflies who got handsy with the waitresses.

But the woman across the taproom wasn’t a waitress, and he’d seen nothing to indicate she was shifter—although the three mountain lions nearby were staring at her like she was a gazelle.

He didn’t even know her name.

She stood in front of the dartboard, well behind the line, taking aim. Lithe . . . poised . . . as if unaware she was being watched. The pendant light
