A blast rips through a church in the southern Philippines and hurls a young woman several feet through the air, while killing many around her instantly. Her death comes slowly, as she lies helpless in the rubble.

A mother in Pakistan squeezes her eyes closed and then a moment later her lifeless body slumps to the ground. It is an honor killing. Her crime? She had become a Believer in Jesus Christ.

In Syria, several men are forced to kneel down as they are savagely beheaded. They, and many others like them, have been convicted of being a Christian.

It is a story that is being played out far too many times in our world. In Egypt, members of a Coptic Catholic Church were murdered while attending Mass. The slaughter of Christians is sweeping across Africa at an alarming rate, and in much of the Middle East, as well as in other countries, it is becoming more dangerous to be a Believer in Jesus Christ.

Some of their stories make the news but most are never told, and some stories, like their victims, are buried.

But what happens in the last moments when a Believer is killed or murdered? Where is the one true living God that they had trusted in?

    They can’t tell you. . . . .but maybe I can.

    This is my story.

    Introduction

    27208.png

I t was in the mid-1990s that my pastor asked me to write about a chapter in my life that I preferred be locked away forever. I hadn’t thought about it or talked about it, but suddenly I found myself writing about it. But as I began to relive that time it was as though it had just happened. The following is a true story. Some names have been changed to protect Larry’s.
