    BOOK OVERVIEW

    The Quintessence of Love is not a simple interpretation of love in a romantic sense, but the enlightenment and the essence of true love. Life is not about finding love, but about understanding love, living out of yourself, and becoming love. All things are blessed with love, born into new life and gone through the sea of suffering; all righteousness is being illuminated by light and relieved from their weariness and perversity as well as sorrows and sufferings; seeking the righteousness of the high latitudes, breaking the emptiness of history and coexisting with all things—this is the essence of human beings, the foundation of the souls. This is The Quintessence of Love.

    Preface

    The source of the universe is love;

    Embody the light and become love.

    Understand love and be filled with love;

    Express love and interpret love.

    Our society has long forgotten about its transition into a fragmented information communication mode. Fast and short reading have become a trend. Almost everyone prefers the type of media or written presentation that can be easily understood at first hearing and learned at first glance.

    Many high-quality books, movies, media, and artwork that require lengthy analysis, evaluation, and promotion are no longer welcomed by most people. People are prone to learn everything quickly, regardless of subject matter. As long as one can become viral in a few catchy sentences, they will have the opportunity to enter the mainstream in a fast way.

    Although there are thousands of variants of changes, and the laws of cause and effect are extremely complex, the current environment indicates that people prefer the most straightforward way of information consumption and simplified ideology infusion. Conventionally, the process of knowledge accumulation is to read a book in its fullest first and then distill it down to the essence. But nowadays, perhaps the information is exploding too fast, the dimension of our worldview is no longer simply dependent on some homework, several tasks, and expectations. Driven by curiosity, we want to explore the world further and view it more comprehensively. Therefore, directly digesting the essence would be simple, convenient, and would quickly satisfy our curiosity and vanity.

    For someone with vanity and preference for shortcuts, it is not necessarily wrong. To achieve personal development as well as human social development, experiencing pain, eagerness, vanity, and laziness is all necessary driving force that can boost one’s spirit and action at some point. However, the mechanism of this effect is extremely complicated. As a person, if one is not familiar with the weaknesses of human nature and does not have an objective and rational understanding he or she will become a slave of these weaknesses, bearing all the known or unknown perplexity, pain and damage, sometimes even imposing on one’s trusted friends and family members. In today’s world, information and truth are inconsistent, and even most of them are always completely different. Many people are tempted by fragmented information and being brainwashed. When there is no mature ability to measure themselves and the outside world, one often chooses to use a single, inflexible, harmful, and unhelpful way of thinking, which brings many visible or invisible troubles to oneself, along with family and friends. It also reduces one’s value as a human being for having a diversified brain, and a beautiful and complete soul.

    A person’s life is just like a white pony’s shadow across a crevice; the journey and time goes by very quickly. However, the society, time, and cause and effect are impermanent. If one cannot make good use of one’s mind, soul, and wisdom in this long yet short life, then one will be indistinguishable from the walking dead. If this gift is resorted to violence, darkness, and lies, it will break away from the boundary of being a human being and enter the territory of evil. Although Lao Tzu once said heaven and earth have no preference, a man may choose one over another, but the heaven and the earth are all the same. The high, the low, the great, the small, all are given light, all get a place to rest. After all, one must make the ultimate decision in life among depravity, mediocrity, and sublimation.

    Indulging may bring one happiness for a while, but one must pay a great price, even including the sacrifice of one’s own body and soul. Mediocrity may be safe, but one is destined to be helpless at a certain point caused by the super-fast development of the outside world. The road to sublimation may be extremely hard, but in the process of climbing upward, one will learn to think, forgive, sympathize, and understand. One will no longer be narrow-minded. One’s family will expand from relatives to countless people who have fellowship with one’s soul. One will understand why it is so foolish to be attached to getting things done overnight. In the end, one will feel the joy and satisfaction of the final epiphany over time.

    However, one must understand that although we are all living on earth now, it has been broken down into countless invisible small planets, into which way too many people feel lost. They abandon their soul in this so-called world of sensual pleasures. One ancient poet wrote that along the road, the colorful flowers here and there dazzled one’s eyes. It is so true to use this as a metaphor. We indulge ourselves into the various seas of flowers in the world but forget that not all flowers can withstand rain, snow, and wind. They also have times for blossom and times for withering. In the end, maybe everything is just emptiness.

    Since 2015, we have been exploring and calling for the awakening of human beings and improving everyone’s awareness of life. We have gone through many detours and made countless mistakes during this process. Meanwhile, we also have way too simple understanding and actions in terms of the principles of sacrifice and benefit. However, we have
