About this ebook

In the Bible there are a lot of trees. In the Garden of Eden where God created man and the animals, but before he did that, he created some fine trees.

Why did God create trees? Why did he do so with the bark, the branches, the leaves and the fruit all so different? Why did he not do it all of the same kind?

Trees sway in the wind, and sometimes, storms and hail have come down on the trees. How did God work out the flexibility of trees? When the seasons come and go, the trees will still be there.

Man, in all his wisdom, has forgotten the tree.

God Made Trees, Why?
Author

Robert Wyeth

After university I went to the London Bible College. I expected to prepare for missionary work, but the Lord didn’t want me to go there. I carried on as a project engineer, working in industry. I have been going to church for a number of years, and I have been an elder, so some things are good and the rest of them are bad. One friend commented to me, "After I am dead, I will be an angel. Floating around doing good for anybody." Really? Particularly so with the concept and themes of the Bible. You are children of God, welcomed in the kingdom of God, do you want to be an angel? Remember the good and bad angels. What will happen to the bad angels?

If leaves still hold onto their trees, the coming winter will be

You cannot judge a tree by its bark, so don’t go by past experiences.

    Summary of The Book

God likes trees; that is why he created them before he made the sun and the moon, the fish and the birds, the animals and mankind. It was the first thing that God did. It was very good, so God was pleased and satisfied.

Do you know how many trees and shrubs God created?

If you had a tree seed and planted it in the soil, eventually, the seed would grow, moistened by the rain. It would take a long time before the tree was mature. If you had a shrub, it would take five years, but a tree would take longer than that; it would take about twenty years to grow up, branch out and mature.

Why did God create trees? The bark is green and grey; the branches that come out are green, turning brown; the leaves on the tree are bright green, but not just one sort of green – all shades of green. In the autumn, before the leaves fall, they have all sorts of colours: yellow, orange and red.

Most flowers on trees are white, but not all; some trees have acorns, some have nuts and some have fruits that you can enjoy. Trees are not just brown bark and green leaves; they are more than that.

Trees sway in the wind, and sometimes, storms and hail come down on trees. How did God work out the flexibility of trees? Even when hurricanes come onto the shore, a frightening occurrence that we endure, and the trees are battered, they are still supple and moving. The leaves are gone, but the tree is still there.

Man, in all his wisdom, has forgotten the tree.

When a tree has come to the end of its life, its trunk is not supported as well as one might expect, causing the tree to lean over; the core roots disappear as the tree ages. At these times, the tree still is graceful and supports its branches. Then, the tree is finished and breaks down but leaves its bark for animals and insects.

When you go out and look at trees in the forest, the woods or a city, remember that God created all trees. Just think: why don’t we find all trees of the same species? Oak, cedar, hazel; God created all the trees that we find and can enjoy.

    SECTION 1

    God Made The Trees

To decide upon the nature and identity of trees in the Bible, we must avoid a number of questions, which could be:

That they are identical with those trees here where you live.

Their names are very different across the world.

Different versions of scripture reflect incorrect information.

The names are accurate now, but not so in the Bible:

Thus, the apricot is termed an ‘apple.’

The white broom is described as a ‘juniper.’

The terebinth becomes an ‘elm,’ and so on.

Only those trees that occur in the Bible are listed here. They are well known and easily identifiable because of their fruit, leaves and branches.

God created all the trees in the Garden of Eden.

Then God said, Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds. Genesis ch.1 v11

The Lord God made all kind of trees grow out of the ground - trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. Genesis ch.2 v9

They were very good and pleasant, not like the trees we have today; there were no cankers and no insects biting through the wood. In fact, after man sinned and God
