Indoor ferns
We look at houseplant ferns and their fronds
TENDER houseplant ferns – as opposed to hardy garden ferns – often get ignored, which is a great shame. They are, after all, incredibly popular, widely available and hugely versatile in the home. Being shade-lovers, tender ferns can be perfect for any bathroom, hallway or other cool room, as long as there is some natural diffused or filtered light – they won’t appreciate much direct sunlight, which can be intensified through glass. They provide soothing greenery in many shades, shapes and styles and, even better, they are dead easy to keep! Let’s take a sideways look at the world of tender ferns.

Splendid spleenworts
ONE of our best-loved houseplant ferns is the). However, there are approaching 700 asplenium species, and most of them are known as ‘spleenworts’. They generally have decorative, lance-shaped leaves, and are very easy to grow.
