Dedicated to my mother—sacred and blessed
I was always a beggar, who aspired to philanthropy. I was poor, and had not. But the little I had, whether in efforts or loose change, I gave.
—Ulises Almaraz

Only love can conquer hate.
—John Lennon
I humble my pride, humble myself
To the prince
My lowly being
Humbled before the world
The royalty adores their finer foods
And so I present caviar, wine, and fruit
The lavish goods that strike your likes
As for my humble self, I present my ideas
My knowledge and wisdom
My service
To fight your wars and to build the empire
All I ask is for my lot
The place that I deserve
A U-logy
Death to a coward
Dishonor to the code of power
We open our life
Multiply by the hour
Our chosen truth above the devoured
I present this open hand of our lives to the world
One hundred eight chambers of our secrets held
Our new frame of thought is no low hand
This is the revolution of all that you thought
You knew . . .
Welcome to the life and end
A requiem
