About this ebook

Grace abounds in the final installment of the Seeking Our Humanity trilogy. The eight friends, who originally committed to healing the Earth, continue to reach out, and wonderful new people with similar passions for saving Mother Earth enthusiastically join the cause. Friendships among the characters deepen, as do their relationships with the Earth and with the Visitor from another plane who first brought the news that Earth’s crisis was grounded in humankind’s violence, anger, and greed. Visibly present or not, this gentle man is an influential presence in the lives of the Family of Friends. Serving as a Guide and Spiritual Companion, he assists them individually and collectively as they face the deep-seated fears that underlie so much of humanity’s negative behavior and energy.

Through their development, we, the readers, are assisted in facing the reality of our own personal impact upon self, others, and the Earth. We learn that our behaviors matter and that the ramifications of our words, actions, deeds, and ill will have devastating effects on those around us, including the Life Being Earth. This is a reality that must be faced. And we can! There is reason for hope! We are capable of making the necessary changes. Now, in this pivotal moment in time, we can make the most important changes in our history. We are not alone in this endeavor. For the sake of humanity and for the well being of the Earth, it is time for all the people of Earth to take the next step in becoming the peaceable beings that we are intended to be.

Readers of Seeking Our Humanity, Part III are blessed to recognize themselves through the heartfelt development of our different characters and are moved to grow with them, more and more, toward becoming beings of loving kindness.

    INTRODUCTION

Dear Reader, welcome back! We are most grateful for your return. As you well know, the Seeking Our Humanity series is a trilogy that introduces the people of Earth to the reality of our planet’s declining health issues. In the first book, you were encouraged to seek more information regarding the truth of the Earth’s precarious situation. And this you did! You learned that the evidence provided by our scientists is indeed true. You also learned that another factor, the negative energy produced by our own misguided emotions and actions, is the primary reason for her present state of ill health. Although this truth was not easy to hear, it is essential that we accept it so that appropriate action is taken on her behalf.

In reading the second book of the Seeking Our Humanity series, you expanded your awareness about Earth’s tragic predicament by learning more about your own role in her failing health. And you also gained awareness of the wonderful truth that you, and all others, have the ability to restore the Earth back to full health. Even though this unbelievable truth may cause many of us to raise an eyebrow, we must open our hearts to the reality that we are all endowed with this gift of healing. Through heartfelt conversations and repeated opportunities provided throughout the fictional story, you learned how to access and to share your own innate healing energy with the Earth. You also came to understand that the Earth requires more than just our healing energy. She needs consistent and enduring emotional and ecological stability. For this to be maintained, we must change our ways.

For some, the idea of change will be insurmountable and these unfortunate ones will cause delays in the Earth’s healing process. However, another reality that was learned through the so-called fictional tale is that we must speak the truth about what has been learned because when we do, more people will see the merit of this project, and the numbers who want to change will grow rapidly around the planet.

What, you may ask, will this change demand of you personally? And the answer is simple. You must be willing to become the person you were always intended to be. Dear Friend, we are all intended to be peaceable beings. Never was humankind intended to be a species of violence. This development was an unfortunate evolutionary mishap that is capable of correction.

Imagine what this beautiful planet would be like if there really were peace on Earth. Just imagine! No anger. No hatred. No fears. No violence. Alleviate these negative energies and the Earth will recover quickly from the cancerous nature of these disease-like emotions. Remove this factor from her diagnosis and continue the sustainability measures already underway and the Earth will thrive as she once did. The truth of Earth’s health is known. Regardless of the disinformation that continues to be purported, there is global awareness of the Earth’s frailties, and people are making changes to assist her. This good work is already in progress. However, few are aware of the reality that humankind’s own negative energy is the predominant cause of her ill health. This reality must be faced and accepted. And then action must be taken.

Everyone must honestly face the reality of their impact upon self and others. If you speak in a tone that causes pain to another, then change is necessary. If you act in a manner that harms another, then change is demanded. If your behavior endangers another, then you must face the truth and change your nature. You are not here to be disruptive. You are not here to be hurtful. You are not here to be unkind to anyone. No one deserves to be wounded by another. No one has the privilege of harming another. This is a reality that everyone must face.

Dear Reader, please continue reading. And know that you are not alone. Others will be reading this book as well, and each who does will be facing similar challenges. You are not alone. All of us must face our behaviors and we must become the people we are intended to be. We are intended to be peaceable beings. We must do this for ourselves, for our families, for our friends, our neighbors, and all those strangers that we are yet to meet. We must become peaceable beings, beings of loving-kindness, for the sake of our humanity and for the sake of Mother Earth.

We can do this, Dear Friend. This is not too much to ask of anyone. We all have the ability to change. Within each of us is a good person waiting to be more than she or he presently is. Imagine what the world will be like, when we all choose to be beings of peace.

Take the next step, Dear Reader. Turn the page and begin the mission to save the Earth while becoming the person you are intended to be.

    AN EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE

As we embark upon this new journey of becoming persons committed to saving the Earth, a moment of gratitude must be taken. Old Friends, Dear Readers, you have traveled far to be here at this particular place and this particular time, and hearts are full because of the efforts made. Although few of you have memories of your journey, those of us who hold the memories wish to thank all of you for all that has been done on behalf of the planet Earth.

Dear Ones, our work is not done. The Seeking Our Humanity trilogy is here for a reason. The books are a reminder that the mission continues and that action must be taken and continued. Awaken, Dear Friends, and remember! You are here to aid the Earth!

As you take your next step to becoming a person of peace, others will do the same, and with each new peaceable being, the Earth’s recovery is hastened. Isn’t that a beautiful vision? As we heal ourselves, she heals in turn. Soon, she will be back to full vibrancy and the old ways of negativity will no longer flourish on the Earth. That is reason for deep heartfelt gratitude.

To everyone, far and near, who has changed for the sake of the Earth, please feel the gratitude in our hearts.

    In peace be!

"G ood morning, Dear Friend! Are you up and about?"

Of course, I am and obviously you are as well. So tell me everything! My Sister of Choice laughed wholeheartedly. Her vibrant energy filled the room. I could almost see her face before me, and then, reality struck. Are you on the front porch, Barb?

Yes! she giggled. And I’ve been by the bakery! Am I welcome or shall I head for home?

Of course, you are welcome. I’m on my way! And with that said, I placed my journal on the side table in its reserved space with the favorite pen situated perfectly upon it. These little habits made life so much easier. The journal and the pen were always in the same place. This was a certainty that I could rely upon. On the way to the front door, I flipped the switch on the coffee pot that had been prepared the evening before and was waiting to be of service.

When entering the living room, I heard a faint tapping on the front door. It sounded like a fingernail quietly, but insistently, reaching out for attention. I used the nail of my right forefinger to respond in like manner. A burst of giggles could be heard through the door.

Let me in, please! Or I will eat the croissants without you! The thought was unimaginable. I quickly unlatched the door and welcomed her in. Hugs were exchanged and the giggles continued as we marched towards the kitchen. Barb revealed that she had already completed her walk, which was evident from her walking attire and the tasty treats in hand.

And was your walk informative? I asked.

How do you know that? How do you always know when I’ve had an unusual experience? Such interactions were the norm for us. For reasons that we were still discovering, Barb and I seemed to enjoy a very strong psychic link with one another. We remain in awe of these strange happenstances and continue to be surprised by them every time they occur. I shrugged my shoulders and then noted the frequency of her wonderful events.

Barb, you are a magnet for unusual experiences, so I just naturally expect that you have had one when we come together. And, let’s face it; your walks are typically filled with an abundance of new insights and possibilities. I can hardly wait to hear what has happened this time.

You’re right, of course, Barb replied as she grabbed the placemats and set the small breakfast table. I am blessed with many wonderful experiences. I don’t know why I am so fortunate, but I am very grateful because these events bring me such joy. And sharing these experiences with you makes me very happy. Thank you, Sister! I’m not sure what I would do if you weren’t here and so lovingly available to my early morning visits. As I poured the coffee, Barb served our favorite almond croissants!

Barb, I feel equally blessed. Because of your generosity in sharing these remarkable stories, I learn from your experiences, feel your joy, and benefit from your abundant energy. My Sister of Choice blushed from the compliment and then very quickly turned pensive.

Sister, don’t you think it is peculiar that I have so many delightful experiences? Before I could respond, she continued. Sometimes, I’m afraid to share my stories, because there are so many of them that I fear someone might think that I am just making them up. Barb had more to say, but the croissant called to her. The first bite was always the best. The powdered sugar traveled everywhere…across her face, all over her hands, and down the front of her T-shirt. It was a successful first bite! I quickly grabbed my cellphone and took a photo of her. She made an outrageous face, which accentuated the comedic nature of the moment. She scolded me for taking the picture, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

Barb, may I share my thoughts? She indicated a desire for my input. Dear One, the reason you have so many unusual experiences is because you welcome these encounters. Your heart is open, which makes you present to the opportunity. As we both know, these wonderful incidents happen all the time, but most people are too busy or too distracted to notice. You, on the other hand, expect the unexpected. You are the recipient of these many delightful experiences because you are vigilantly available. I took a deep breath and Sister Barbara joined me. We were both avid believers in the benefits of this act of self-care. For me, this brief action of inhalation served me in more ways than I remembered, but in this particular instance, it provided the opportunity for another thought to surface to the forefront of my mind.

And regarding your concern about sharing these delightful stories, I suggest you tap into your wisdom, Sister. You are an acute observer, capable of assessing a situation quickly and accurately. Use this skill, Barb, and trust your intuitive reaction to what you witness. Sometimes, your enthusiasm stirs you to share everything. I am one who appreciates your generous nature; however, there may be others who are not ready to indulge in all your gifts at once. The point is; your stories are important. Please don’t stop sharing them because of doubts and fears. Instead, be careful. And when I say that, I mean take care of your audience. Assess the reactions of your listeners and trust that you will know how much or how little to share. This is a skillset you already have, Sister. You do this in your work all the time. Perhaps you might be more mindful about using it in this aspect of your life. Barb sat with my feedback for a moment before responding.

So, you’re telling me to speak the truth and to trust myself. I nodded in agreement. Well, we’ve been hearing that message a lot lately, haven’t we? Again, I affirmed her comment with a silent nod of the head. It’s great advice. Both from you and from our Dear Old Friend. Her thoughts went astray as she reminisced about our Old Friend, our teacher and mentor, who had greatly expanded our perception of life.

Placing my hand on hers, I softly said, I miss him too, Barb. It was her turn to quietly nod. A single tear found its way down her cheek. We both took a deep breath at the same time, as if it had been a response to a spoken command, which of course, was not the case.

If he were here now, what do you think he would advise me to do? her question was based in her longing for connection. I understood the reaction. Our Old Friend’s presence was always comforting and uplifting even when the message he brought forward was difficult to hear. His consistent, positive demeanor was one of my most cherished memories of him.

Why don’t you answer that, Barb? How do you think he would advise you? She smiled and winked at me.

He would do the same thing that you just did, Sister. He would speak to me with loving-kindness and he would hold my heart in his, as he broadened my vision of the world. Her smile grew larger as memories of our teacher energized her. And I think he would offer another tidbit of wisdom for me to ponder. He would encourage me to be patient. Barb rolled her eyes in disbelief when she acknowledged this awareness. Mastering patience was still a work in progress for her. As you said, Sister, my enthusiasm often leads me to share everything at once. But our Old Friend would suggest that patience is called for. I need to slow down, observe the reactions of my audience, and then give them time to be with the new information that is being presented. As we both know, these experiences require time to absorb. So depending upon the listener, I must adjust how much is shared based upon their reactions and their desire to hear more. I’m beginning to have a greater appreciation for the responsibility that comes along with these unusual experiences. Indeed, these incidents must be shared, because the more people hear about these events, the more receptive they will become to believing them. I also realize now that speaking the truth about these experiences is a significant factor in the process of spreading the news of these unusual events. At all times, one must be careful to hold the listener in tender loving care. The experience they have listening to another’s story is as important as the actual event itself. Barb’s understanding was expanding beautifully. She now realized the power of her stories and the responsibility that goes along with the privilege of having these encounters.

I think our beloved teacher would be very proud of you, Sister. In my humble opinion, you’ve just reached another level of understanding regarding the blessings of these incredible experiences you are having. I suspect he is somewhere nearby and that beautiful smile of his is lighting up the Universe. Barb blushed again. Taking in compliments remained a challenge for her, but she did allow herself to enjoy my words of praise. And then she began to giggle.

Oh my goodness! she declared. I’m such a piece of work! She giggled some more while I looked on in confusion. Sister, this is what you’ve been doing for me for ages! You listen quietly, patiently, and then you assess my readiness for nudges and questions. You’ve been a wonderful role model! And I’m finally getting the message. Thank you for everything you do for me. For our years of friendship, for your words of wisdom and support, and for your tender, loving care of me! You’re the best Sister ever!

Oh, goodness! I thank you for those kind words, but you’re the one who is having an existential growth spurt, not me! You’re growing by leaps and bounds, Barb, and it is a delight to bear witness to your expansion process. Thank you for being in my life and for sharing all your wonderful experiences with me. I feel so very fortunate! The two old friends sat across the table staring at one another, each wondering what she would do without the other. Another, who was near, yet distant, also observed their interaction. He was indeed proud of both these Old Friends and he wondered when they would speak of their heartfelt connection. The future was advancing forward rapidly and much remained for these two to accomplish.

    A passage from

    Being Loving-Kindness

    (Chapter One)

"Please begin this journey of self-illumination by embracing the idea that you are more than you appear to be. This is the first of many truths that will be conveyed through your exploratory quest for your True Self. You are invited and strongly encouraged to chronicle about this and forthcoming truths, for in doing so, your ability to capture and comprehend all that is unfolding will be enhanced. For your edification and clarity, the truth is repeated and accentuated.

You are more than you appear to be!

How does it feel to see your truth written so boldly and beautifully? Is it not a wonderful notion to ponder? Do so now while you are still in the moment of relevance and allow yourself permission to revel in the awareness that you are indeed more than you appear to be."

    glyph.jpg

Sister, refresh my memory, please. When is your trip to the City by the Sea? The question about my travels took me by surprise. I was so immersed in my own thoughts about Barb’s morning walk that I did not pick up on her change of focus. So much for my telepathic skills! I gave her the dates and carefully observed her reaction. Her change of energy was obvious.

Barb, I need to discuss something with you. Are you up for that? Her dull, faraway look became bright and present again. She encouraged me to continue. Confusion about how to begin the conversation caused me to hesitate. I decided to simply speak my truth.

I’m torn, Sister. I sense that you are concerned about my upcoming trip, and I want you to know that I am open to talking about it; however, we haven’t yet discussed what happened on your walk this morning. That is why you stopped by, isn’t it? Which topic do you want to address first? The silence that followed was undeniably noticeable. I had to restrain myself from jumping in to rescue my Sister of Choice from what I presumed was an uncomfortable situation. Fortunately, good sense quickly returned and I realized that Barb did not need my help. She was perfectly capable of handling this situation, and in truth, it was my own discomfort that was overwhelming me.

Don’t worry about me, Sister! she interjected. I don’t need to be rescued. Just a little slow in processing my thoughts. Unlike my so-called telepathic abilities, Barb’s were operating efficiently. I relaxed into my chair and patiently waited for her response.

The truth is, she began, I am concerned about your trip. I’m afraid that when you return, you will announce that you are going to relocate. And I just don’t want to think about that possibility, but the thought still keeps circling about, and when it surfaces, I fall into a slump. So there you are! I’ve said it out loud, and we both know that this topic will be visited many more times in the days ahead. But we will both survive whatever is coming and we will always remain friends regardless of where our new locations are going to be. Having said that, I prefer to talk about this morning’s adventure. Her voice was strong and determined and logical. We were indeed destined to have many more conversations about our relocation possibilities, and it was normal that we would have moments of sadness and concern about the upcoming transitions.

Okay! Then let’s begin with another round of coffee and perhaps a few more bites of these delicious treats! Before I could rise from my chair, Barb was up and filling our cups. She had the energy of a youngster.

Shall I pop the croissants in the oven for a bit? And before I could even answer, my Sister of Choice was handling that situation as well. In less than a minute, the table was in order, and the next delicious bite was being enjoyed.

Oh, goodness! These croissants are exceptionally good today! My announcement made me chuckle. I say that every time we have these, don’t I? Barb giggled in her most delightful way.

Yes, you do! But it’s the truth! We enjoyed a few more moments of the sensual experience before conversation began again. Have you ever wondered how the culinary arts developed? How did the human species come up with these wonderful recipes? How and when and where did this all begin? Some day, I must read up on the history of food preparation. Barb paused for a moment before continuing. The truth is, Sister, I just take everything for granted. We are blessed with so many gifts of convenience and luxury, and I just take all of it for granted. I live most of my life in unawareness of the truth, the story underlying ‘everything’ that is before me. She paused again. That’s an astonishing realization!

Yes, it is, and I agree with you. I was intrigued by our topic. Our lives are filled with riches that we simply take for granted. From the toothpaste that begins our day, to the clothes that we wear, the food that we consume, the environment that we live in, the cultures that have been created by those who came before…for the most part, we know very little about all these previous developments that made our lives so livable. We’ve forgotten our beginnings to the point that we don’t really appreciate our current circumstances. Isn’t that fascinating? Silence consumed the moment and another bite of the sumptuous pastry was enjoyed. What brings us to this interesting topic, Barb? Does this have something to do with your walk this morning?

Well, I guess it began last night while I was spending time with my journal. It’s a beautifully crafted book, which caught my eye while enjoying some retail therapy on my last trip. At the time, I believed it would enhance my ability to be in the silence, and truthfully, I think it did. Its beauty captured my imagination. Each time I engage with it, I feel as if it is a sacred experience. That must sound crazy, but it truly is a ‘special object’ that accompanies me on my journey. Her words were heartfelt. I appreciated the way she spoke of her relationship with the beautiful journal.

Anyway, Barb continued, the point is that I am nearing the end of this journal and last night I became unnerved by the idea that I would soon have to replace it with another. Until that moment, I had not realized the depth of attachment I felt for this inanimate object. It puzzled me. And the topic arose again this morning when I entered the north trailhead. You remember that old gate that welcomes you into the trail, don’t you? I nodded that I did. Well, she continued her story, "this morning, I noticed it, Sister. I didn’t just walk through it like I always do. I actually noticed it. And it made me wonder how many times I’ve entered through that gate without any thought of its history. Who made it? When was it made? How long has that gate been standing there welcoming folks into the forest? I had never given it a second thought before.

And this frame of reference continued throughout my entire walk. Sister, I was profoundly aware of everything I saw this morning. Of course, I have my favorite sites, and a few favorite trees that always grab my attention, but for the most part, I am oblivious to my surroundings. That became exquisitely clear to me on the trail, as I actually took time to notice the abundance around me. It was the most curious experience. We live in a world that is filled with other life beings. Countless varieties of plant life, each with its own beauty and purpose, and they all seem to coexist in harmony. I was amazed by my lack of awareness of all these exceptional beings that populate our planet. I am stunned by my lack of consideration, my lack of interest in these other life beings. Sister, we walk the Earth surrounded by all its abundance, and we don’t even notice it. I am shocked by my lack of curiosity, my disinterest, and my ignorance about the other inhabitants of this planet.

It makes me realize how uninvolved I’ve been with the Earth, and it makes me realize how much I have taken her for granted. I have been disrespectful and didn’t even know that I was behaving in that manner. It’s startling! And it was a life-changing experience.

I now have a much greater understanding of why the people of Earth are not responding to her needs. Most of us don’t give her a moment of our time. We don’t notice her as a relevant factor in our lives and we don’t notice that our oblivious manner matters. We cannot see the harm that we are doing to the Earth, because we do not see her. We live our lives without cognizance of her presence. Oh, Dear Sister, we must change! And we must help others realize the state of oblivion in which we are all existing." Barb’s acknowledgements deserved a response, but I sensed that she still had more to say, so I remained silent.

Thank you, Sister, she responded to my thoughts once again. I do have more to say, but my words are failing me. The truth is: I had no idea how out of sync I am with the Earth. Even after everything we’ve learned in recent weeks, I am finding how detached I’ve been to the life around me. I’ve had more attachment to my beautiful journal than I’ve had with the Earth and all her remarkable inhabitants. A deep breath was taken and I joined the activity. Her words were much more powerful than she was aware. I could identify with everything Barb was saying, and I was certain that other people would as well.

My Dear Friend, your experience this morning is mind-boggling. Your willingness to engage with this information at a heart level is noteworthy, and the fact that you have shared your experience with me allows me to have a similar life-changing event. This is stellar work, Barb, and your description of your experience was exquisite. Because you shared your story with me, I now know more about myself. Like you, I can relate to every inadequacy that you identified, and I am now better equipped to deal with these shortcomings. I see that I’ve been neglectful and oblivious of the Earth’s presence, because your experience awakened me to the truth of my own detachment from her. I simply take my life for granted and do not give proper respect to all those who contribute to the wonderful life that I enjoy. You have given me much to mull over, Dear Friend, and I am very grateful that you shared your story with me today.

Well, Sister, you are very kind, and I know your comments are sincere. She sighed and shared a sweet smile. We have more work to do. This is another important aspect of our mission to save the Earth that must be added to our To Do List.

Yes, it is, Barb! Will the list ever end?

Our conversation ended with an exchange of hugs and well wishes for the day. Barb headed home and I remained
