Prologue
Ω
Wakeup, wakeup my beloved child.
Where am I? What happened?
You are safe, you were having a bad dream and called me.
Yes, I was living with a veil of darkness,
I was so afraid and sad.
Be at peace my child,
just remember who you are,
you are an expression of love and a powerful creator.
But I failed with severity too many times.
The past does not exist, my child. It does not.
The future does not exist either. It does not.
In the present moment…
you can chose to be whoever you want to be.
Who am I supposed to be? What is my mission?
Seek with faith.
Enjoy the now.
Be thankful and have a heart of gratitude,
the answers will come to you.
Do not be afraid.
You are not alone in this journey,
I am always with you and I love you.
Dream an amazing dream,
and what you truly believe, it will be.
Yes, you are that powerful.
Go on and start this new journey.
There is a whole new world inside of you.
It is full of wonder, wisdom, joy, and abundance.
It is waiting for you to be discovered.
Yes, I actually can see it now. Thank you.
It is a great journey. I love you.
Chapter 1
Ω
It was a hot and humid day when Peter was running through the dense and dangerous jungle in the land of the Tairona natives. His comrades had all died, victims of an uprising of some natives against the tyranny of the Spanish soldiers. Everything had been lost, the mission had failed and many of the men and women were killed by the powerful Tairona natives.
Peter could not blame the natives for the violent reaction. The good faith of the Spanish priests had not been enough to overcome the greed of the soldiers for gold and precious gems. Many of Peter’s comrades had forsaken their values and beliefs in exchange for a never ending hunger for wealth. A hunger that ultimately led to them contradicting and violating all that they had learned from their families and church. Now they were all dead and would never be able to actually enjoy the riches that they had stolen from the natives.
Peter ducked as he felt the air vibrations from a close encounter with a spear being thrown at his direction. He was running with all his might from the natives that were pursuing him. Peter had come to the New World for a fresh start, but at this moment, he feared that he would die. Peter feared that he would perish without finding the peace and tranquility that he sought for in the New World. Instead of peace, Peter found himself face-to-face with death. Peter could not believe his misfortune. All Peter could do while running for his life in the jungle from the natives was to think about the city of sin that he had escaped from. A city that would always be exponentially worse than his current experiences in the New World. Peter thought back at his moment of reckoning.
It was a dark night as Peter walked the streets of Cordoba. It was a full moon, but the fog and clouds of the night seemed to block the many rays of beautiful light that should have accompanied such an evening. It seemed as if the heavens were disappointed in humanity and its decisions. It seemed as if the heavens were closing themselves off from humanity and leaving it to fend for itself. And with the loss of the moon’s rays of light, the sins of the city seemed to multiply without end.
The usual whimpers and songs from drunks in the street filled the air. It seemed as if in every corner there was either a tavern or a brothel filled with sin. Peter was in the middle of the red light district of Cordoba and longed to evade the scrupulous characters that often inhabited it. Peter’s mind drifted off as he began to think of his dear sweet Laura. Laura was his lifelong crush. A crush that he knew he could never be with. Peter’s dismal economic standing and profession had longed been looked down upon by her family, and as a result, she was forbidden from being with him. So, Peter could only resort to looks from afar. Looks that would often be apparent as he gave mass at his church.
Peter then heard the drunken whimpers of men crawling home after a long night. Peter rolled his eyes at the poor excuses of humanity surrounding him and fastened his pace. Peter had compassion for all the suffering of men and women of the street. They all had a look in their eyes and faces that exhibited darkness, contempt, loneliness, and longing for the end but he could not wait to escape the sin that filled the street. Peter had just a bit further to go before reaching the safety of shelter.
However, Peter also knew that he had his own devils, sins, and faults to fight as he had also fallen into the temptations of life. Peter felt that he was losing his grip on life. He saw himself being intoxicated by the evil and sin that was ever present in the city and even inside himself. Peter knew that he had to start over. That he had to start a new journey to escape the endless loop of despair that he felt a part of. Peter knew that he had to go the lands of the New World.
Peter’s mind returned to the present moment. While running through the jungle, evading rocks, pitfalls, and low branches, Peter suddenly heard the sound of crunching tree branches. Peter immediately paused and hid himself behind a nearby tree. Peter slowly peered past the tree trunk and yelled out, as authoritative and assured as he could, Who goes there?
As soon as he yelled out his command, he saw a large black jaguar appear from within some bushes with beautiful flowers. The colors of the flowers gave way to the terrifyingly large beast. Peter was so far away from home, so far away from his loved ones, and, at that moment, he believed to be far away from his own beliefs as well. He had left the city of Trujillo, in Spain, when he was very young to become a man of God. He believed that bringing the truth to natives unaware of the teachings of God was the right and noble thing to do. Perhaps they had been way too harsh with the natives. The natives had not been respected or treated with any kind of dignity. They never gave the natives a chance to explain their own beliefs and devotions for their own gods. Many of his colleagues of the congregation had chosen to preach by the sword and by force instead of by love. Now he began to wish that he had never left his home and family in Spain. He wished he had never experienced the harsh and deadly months journeying across the sea to the New World. And Peter wished that he had never joined the small scouting party who had journeyed into the dangerous jungle. Peter turned his attention back to the black beast that was before him. He could feel the eyes
