    Anything Impossible - ST Author

    1

"H appy Birthday Rachel!" My two best friends yell right in my face, from the behind my bedroom desk. My ears hurt but I don’t show it because I’m grinning from ear to ear.

You’re seventeen I can’t believe it! Jessica shrieks in her overly high voice. Of course Jessica would be more excited about my birthday than I am. So, aren’t you going to ask what we got you? Jessica asks and starts jumping up and down. I laugh at the two idiots standing in front of me. They act like I just got accepted into college or something.

What did you guys get me? I shoot back, a huge smile on my face, showing them that I care. Look in the box, Lisa urges with a grin. She shoves a small purple white laced box into my

hands. I know they’ve gotten me something jewelry related, they do it every year. Look! Look! Jessica squeals as she usually does.

Okay, I’m looking, I’m looking! I roll my eyes as I slowly unwrap the purple, shimmery, wrapping paper to find a small velvet black box inside the larger purple one. I look at my two best friends who are grinning like evil witches who just turned someone into a toad.

Open it! Lisa shouts and I nod, laughing at their eager impatience. I slowly open it and find lying there, a stunning diamond studded, heart-shaped necklace, staring back at me. Oh my god! I scream, going high on the last word.

Do you like it? Lisa asks in excitement.

Yes! How did you afford this, I mean not trying to be rude, but it looks pricey, I pick up the necklace and lay it at the base of my neck to see how it looks. I love how it looks on my tan complexion and smooth skin.

That’s none of your concern! Jessica says with a smile and a wink. I watch as they both snap pictures of their present and quickly post on every social media application that was ever created. I have to say that my friends are proud to be friends of mine and vise versa.

It’s really amazing. Thanks guys, I say breathlessly, after I look in the mirror next to my bed. Jessica nods and smiles, and Lisa does the same.

Later that night, as I’m lying on bed on my laptop doing some biology homework, I decide to take a break and video chat Lisa and Jessica, who both had just thrown me an all girls surprise party. They’re the best, I couldn’t ask for better friends and I honestly mean it.

Hey guys, I say into the microphone. I observe the two girls who are both wearing colorful pajamas and internally laugh at their childish fashion choices.

Hey! they both say at once. I almost die of laughter after I realize that Lisa and Jessica’s pajamas are actually the same. They must have bought them together because that’s something Jessica would suggest doing.

That was the best birthday, thanks so much guys, I spill and they both nod proudly. I can’t thank them enough for making more of an effort to please me than my actual family does.

No problem, bestie! Jessica trills, I hope all the boys wished you a Happy Birthday! Is Jason taking you anywhere special tonight?

No, he took me out yesterday since he had plans today. And of course all of them wished me a Happy Birthday, I note. The boys wouldn’t be the good friends they are if they hadn’t wished me a happy birthday. Timmy even went all out and posted a collage of our crazy relationship.

What did Jason get you? Jessica asks, curious like she always is. Only at that moment, I realize that I forgot to show them what Jason had gotten me yesterday.

"Oh, I forgot to show you! It’s a Pandora charm bracelet. It’s really pretty," I show the bracelet to the camera so Jessica and Lisa could see. Each charm has a meaning, and that’s what makes the gift so precious to me. He’s really a great guy and I hope we’ll never break up. At my times of sadness, he’s the one that cheers me up and makes me laugh. I love Jason like I’ve never loved anyone before.

Aww, they both say simultaneously, again. It’s like they can read each other’s minds. It would make sense since we all literally spend almost every moment together.

So, anything new going on with your gorgeous boyfriends? I ask them both of them in a fangirl voice which makes both of them laugh.

I’m going bowling with Timmy tomorrow night. Wait, you guys should bring Jason and Steph, triple date! Jessica squeals as she claps her hands really quickly, a typical Jessica act. Timmy’s Jessica’s boyfriend who she has been dating for over five months now. They’re one of the cutest couples ever, and I’m not just saying that because they’re close to me. They’re honestly so perfect for each other. They even kind of look alike which freaks me out sometimes.

I don’t know, I mean, I have a lot of homework, I groan in annoyance with my horrible teachers of this dreadful junior year. I’ll ask Jason. Lisa, you’ll go with Steph?

Maybe, but guys, something seriously bizarre is going on. I’ve been hungry all day and no matter how much I eat, it wont go away. Lisa sounds concerned. She wouldn’t be telling us this if she didn’t think it was serious. That only makes me a little more terrified for her because she’s almost never nervous.

Oh crap. You should go to the doctor, Jessica looks concerned as well as I am.

No, I hate going there, asking me personal questions and being way to physical. No way, I’ll just have to wait until it passes. Lisa sighs, possibly trying to ignore the fact that she has a serious stomach problem. Leave it to Lisa to try to ignore the truth to benefit herself.

You were fine two hours ago, Jessica points out, referring to when Lisa left my house and gave both Jessica and I monster hugs.

It started an hour ago, Lisa shrugs, holding her stomach as we all hear it growl. What does it feel like? I ask, hoping the concern in my voice is reassuring. Horrible, Lisa starts, I feel like I’m gonna vomit!

You sound like you’re in some serious pain, Jessica says, sounding worried beyond belief for her friend.

You should really see a doctor. I suggest, get over your fear of being questioned or slightly touched by anyone other than the people you know.

Maybe tomorrow. It’s getting a little better all of a sudden, Lisa says looking a little weirded out. That was very unusual. Lisa suddenly gets out of her crouched and pained position, to completely normal.

That’s strange, Jessica says quickly are you sure you’re okay?

Yeah, It’s weird, but it’s really all better now, Lisa suddenly changes her mood. Lisa is just sitting by her laptop, looking like she’s thinking something through.

I’m glad you’re better Lisa, but guys, it’s already midnight and we have school tomorrow. I’ll meet you both at the bus stop tomorrow morning, okay? I ask them both and they nod in response, and Jessica yawns as she waves both of us goodbye. Minutes later, I’m drifting off to sleep in my warm bed and pitch black room.

O nce I wake up at seven in the morning, I suddenly feel like my stomach has turned inside out completely. I can’t even get out of bed, the pain is too unbearable. There must be a bug going around or something, because it feels exactly like what Lisa was describing to us last night, except without the binge eating part. I barely roll out of bed, groaning from the pain, and immediately text Lisa and Jessica on my phone.

    GROUP SMS

Me: Guys my stomach is killing me.

    Jessica: OMG. Are you okay?

    Lisa: Are you okay?!

Me: I’ll try to ignore it. See you at the bus.

After I finish with breakfast, my makeup, and all the other important stuff I have to do every morning, I walk to the bus stop in the cold outside world. It’s freezing, and I feel like throwing up even though I took two advils. I have to come to school today because of my stupid math test, otherwise I would be at home drinking hot coffee and watching Netflix. As I get closer and closer to the stop, I find Steph standing there with his hands in his pockets. Other than him, I don’t see any of our other friends.

Steph has dark brown hair that makes him look mysterious and green eyes. Today he’s wearing a black sweatshirt that has nothing written on it, with a pair of light jeans. I wouldn’t say Steph’s ugly at all, he’s actually a really attractive guy, but not my type at all. He fits Lisa’s criteria perfectly which is why they hit it off since day one. He’s kind of quiet but he can get loud sometimes. He’s mysterious and I always feel like he’s hiding something, nothing too serious but I may be wrong. He is supportive, caring and protective over his friends, like all of us are.

Hey, Jessica or Lisa come yet? I ask Steph, who’s nose is red from the cold.

He shrugs. Not yet, he makes eye contact but when he does, he grabs my forearm tightly. R, you look really sick.

I’m fine, I’m just a little nauseous, I respond in a light, if forced, tone. I need to take that math test. I let out a laugh and he smiles, shoving his cold hands into his jeans.

You sure? he asked in a moderately concerned tone, smirking away. Once I nod, he reaches into his backpack and pull out a Chanel perfume. I gasp, completely ignoring the pain I’m in. Steph always goes out of his way to please everyone he can. I’m sure it was his mother, Jessie’s, idea because he literally has no idea what a girl would want as a gift.

This is actually amazing, thanks so much. I hug him tightly after he hands me the perfume from my favorite company.

My mom recommended it. She said she knows what you like, he adds and we both laugh. Steph is already seventeen as of last month and he’s the oldest out of our group of friends. He moved here from England with his mother in middle school and his British accent is still the same. He and Lisa are definitely the mature ones, and as Timmy likes to call them, mom and dad. Moments later, I watch as Jason, Timmy, Jessica and Lisa coming down the street towards the bus stop. Lisa and Jessica run up to me looking like they have something important to say, leaving the four boys to walk on their own for the last ten yards. I laugh as I notice the guys rolling their eyes at my best friends.

Rachel! Are you feeling okay? Lisa asks, with huge eyes staring at me. I can literally see Steph quietly laughing at his girlfriend for being this dramatic.

Are you healthy?Jessica pats my face all over to check my temperature. I laugh, telling her that

    I am okay.

Happy late birthday, girlie, Timmy hugs me tightly. I honestly think he is the cutest person in town. He talks like a girl would every time he talks to us even though he’s even more than straight. To add to his goofiness, for my birthday, he had a customized shirt sent to my door that had a picture of us making ugly faces on the front. I laughed for hours and showed everyone I know. He’s definitely my favorite friend and he knows it.

I love the shirt. Thanks Timmy, I shoot him a smile and he nods, grinning that famous Timmy grin that shows off his baby face. When he goes over to hug Jessica, my heart almost drops. They’re so perfect together and there are no words to explain it. It makes me happy seeing them so in love with each other. His dirty blonde hair, sky blue eyes and tan complection matches how Jessica looks exactly. A match made in heaven.

No problem. He laughs as Jason steps in front of Timmy. He looks extra preppy today and he does it because he knows we all like it, especially Jessica. A button down light blue collared shirt and a pair of khakis really do the trick. He almost looks like a rich private school kid.

Jason steps in front of Timmy, purposely trying to annoy him. Jason winks at me before taking my cold hand in his. I suddenly realize that the pain is almost completely gone… weird.

Uh, excuse me? Ugh, jerk! Timmy jokes, referring to when Jason cut him off from our conversation. Jason rolls his eyes and turns back to me when Timmy goes off about something to Jessica. Jason kisses me lightly and puts his arm around my shoulder.

You feeling okay? he asks with a worried expression that shows only in his big, brown eyes. I can tell he’s trying to look calm for my benefit, and it helps a little. You shouldn’t come to school just for a test if you’re sick, Rach.

I need to take that test, I say back staring right back at him. He knows that I’ll come to school if I have an important class to be at or to take a test. I do this all the time and he argues with me a lot about it.

Jason sighs. I should know not to even argue with you anymore.

I nod back in response, agreeing, and his reaction is priceless. Jason looks good today even though he looks like he just rolled out of bed. It’s talent how he can make his dark hair look good without effort, and his comfortable Adidas sweatshirts and shoes. He rants on about how he loves Adidas like no other company. Their stuff does look good on him though, so I don’t blame him. Moments later, we hear a roaring engine coming down the street.

It’s about damn time. I’m cold as hell, Lisa mumbles, making us laugh at her obvious impatience for anything. We all climb onto the crowded school bus and take our seats. I plop down in a random seat in the front, right beside Jason. His familiar masculine scent fill my senses, making me calm and at ease. Being with him brings me closure and comfort and that one of the reasons why I’m with him. He’s also a good person, wouldn’t even hurt a fly.

I take a quick glance at the back of the bus and find myself staring at Ryan Barnes and Lucas Malvin. They’re both noticeably arguing about something but stop when they realize people are starting to stare. Apparently, Ryan Barnes is really into really sketchy stuff but it’s really not my business to care or spread rumors. My head on Jason’s chest, I can hear him breathing lightly and it makes my heart happy. I love the way his voice sounds through his chest when he talks.

PDA sucks, Timmy yells from the back of the bus, referring to me laying my head on his chest like a normal girlfriend. I mean, it’s not even that much PDA. Normal teenagers do way more than what I’m doing now in public. I laugh so hard that I start to cough and my stomach hurts even more than it already is.

With hazel eyes, wavy dark hair, and a medium-height frame, I’m pretty average girl. Jason always makes sure to tell me I’m perfect, but in reality he knows he’s the perfect one. With his fashion choices, built body, symmetrical face, light brown hair and big brown eyes, he’s got every girl in town staring at him. Jason knows he’s attractive and that every girl in our school crushes on him, but he ignores it all. It seems to be that I’m the only one he’s interested in, which always confuses me.

Jessica has long honey blonde hair, huge deep blue eyes, and is a couple inches shorter than me, but way shorter than Lisa, who’s much taller than any of the girls in our grade. Lisa has shoulder length blond hair and cute grey eyes. Steph says that the moment he saw her he fell in love at first sight. I wouldn’t blame him, she has that effect on boys.

Finally, the loud bus stops at school, and the driver opens the doors with frustration, excited to drop us crazy teens off. I stand up to get off the bus when Kenna Grey, my sworn enemy, shows up in front of Jason and I.

Jason, you’re studying with me for the bio quiz, right? She asks in a totally flirtatious way, purposely trying to make me jealous. She’s really good at completely ignoring me even when I’m standing right there. She’s chewing her gum so loudly and It’s getting louder and more irritating by the second.

Um, yeah, he blinks quickly, not really sure what to say. I hate Kenna and always have, and I seriously don’t hate anyone! She always tries getting Jason’s attention so that she can attempt at stealing him. I’m sure she has a whole devious plan set up and thinks she has a chance with my boyfriend. To add onto that, she always does the worst stuff to Lisa, Jessica, and I ever since the third grade.

Jason, I nudge him. I am this close to almost smack the crap out of Kenna. Who does she think she is prancing around trying to steal people’s boyfriends? This happens at least twice weekly, and it’s the most annoying thing in the world. Jason knows I hate it, I rant on about it all the time.

He shrugs in response to Kenna’s question. I just remembered that I have plans, he responds, noticing my displeasure in her talking to him and taking up his time. Either way, I take pleasure in the look of annoyance that crosses her perfect face when she hears that Jason isn’t interested. I notice Lisa looking at Kenna like she wants to punch someone. It’s great seeing her get all defensive because she really does scare people.

When we get off the bus, I look behind me for a second and Kenna spits her gum into the bottom of my hair. Before I can even complain, I’m hit by a wave of severe nausea. My knees start shaking and I almost fall over. Luckily, Timmy and Jason are there to catch me by my arms. Steph notices too and runs over without a question.

You okay? The concern in Jason’s voice is noted, after he picks the mint gum out of my hair. No, I barely respond, in a very pained voice. I’ve never experienced something so painful in my life. It’s indescribable and I’m regretting ever coming to school, or not listening to Jason.

We’ll go to the nurse, Timmy glances over at the guys and for some reason, they all glance back at the same time.

I’ll come with you, Jessica says sounding like she’s about to have a panic attack. Lisa takes one good look at Kenna and warns her with only her eyes. She appears intimidated and walks away with her followers. We all walk to the nurse’s office, laughing quietly at
