INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS LOVE? I THOUGHT I knew—until I was asked. With the realization that I didn’t know what it is, I decided to learn. I was asking a wonderful lady who I cared for to trust me and to follow me into the unknown, and as a leader, I was supposed to do whatever it took to know. This book was written for her, and I have chosen to leave the wording personal like I would in a letter, text, or e-mail. I know there are things she has experienced, and I know that understanding is already in place. Only my personal experiences are brought out; her life and privacy are kept private.
Life taught me what love isn’t—or I recognized many things that I initially thought were love before I realized they were just imitations of the real thing. As I learned what it isn’t, I began to understand what it is. I also began to remember and believe in what I want in this area of my life.
This led to knowing that I already have everything I need in order to be happy, along with some other things that have changed my life in positive ways.
Some questions may be answered later. Maybe you have your own answers for some of them.
Every chapter is tied together and interrelated. They build on each other and may seem like overviews of what has already been covered. My intent is that different aspects will come out when things are written about in a different light. Every topic is of equal value, but at the same time, some are more important depending on where we are in life.
This book is meant to be part of the understanding. In other words, there is more to love than any of us can accurately describe to everyone in one hundred pages or more. It is progressive, and in ten years, our views will have shifted along with our waistlines and hair colors.
Enjoy, laugh, and smile.
Craig

CHAPTER 1
Love Isn’t Sex
WHAT? ARE YOU SURE? LOOK at Hollywood and all the romance novels. They sure make sex look like love. I used to believe that sex meant love and love meant sex—and then the divorce came, and I, the typical male, learned that I didn’t know what love is. Now, I can pretend to know what women think. That is a favorite pastime of some of the male species. They give themselves names like man, doctor, boyfriend, husband, and a variety of other self-important titles. But in truth, I don’t. And because I am human, I know a little about love. I offer some guidance and direction. Love, as it develops, gives us the ability to connect with each other in such a way that we can know what the other is thinking.
For many years, the intimate bedroom scenes—the sex and the orgasms of life—appeared to be the crowning moments, the ultimate experience, heaven on earth, and more, and it can be when it is combined with love. If the act of sex were love, then the sick and repulsive acts of incest and rape and forced sex in marriage would be acts of love.
Consensual casual sex is more acceptable in society. Two people come together just for the pleasure, the companionship, or whatever else they want without the commitment that is an essential part of love. In these
