A Prologue from Mike Orozco
I have always wanted to create characters of my own for as far back in my life as I could remember.
The protagonist characters of the War time Paragons are a symbol of heroism and triumph over all that is evil and corrupt in our present world. Whether during the golden age of the superheroes in the 1940’s or in the late 19th century.
With the second Paragon story ‘The Paragon Amalgamation’ I bring in some of the characters during the war in Korea. As I had considered for the first story set during WWII, but missed the opportunity.
I think to myself of how I could get my own characters to be seen serving the war effort fighting the communists of Korea in the 1950’s.
I personally have never served under any of the branches of military myself, but recall one individual in my life who had.
My great Uncle who had served in Korea and became a distinct patriarch of his own family. I never had the chance to know him in my adult life as he had passed on before my 22nd year as a young man.
What I do recall is one thing which he had told me once and had been known to say quite frequently.
In war, You either kill, or be killed
a direct sentence from my great-uncle to me as a boy.
Furthermore, I wish to explain to any and every person who had served in any of the militant branches and their families that I wish for the story to display the character’s involvement in the conflict, but certainly not of war itself.
I also wish to my readers that this is just the beginning of my story telling and there will be many generations of Metagenite superheroes throughout the years.
There will be more to come, God help me, and much more of my work to explore.
Thank you all for reading, sincerely, Mike Orozco.
This book is dedicated to my friend ‘Cowboy’.
I miss you, pal.

The Paragons’ new Accession
As if through a mist, Bret’s image wandered looking slowly but surely at a place where there is absolutely no pain or grief in existence, only peace. Looking down, Bret could see himself speaking to another man, not just any man, but Herman Donner, his old friend and associate.
I remember when we went that last time to the Palm tree shades night club, you, me and Fighley
Says the man in the glowing white cowboy uniform sitting next to Bret Caller.
It was not seen yet exactly where, how or what they were sitting on, they just were. One could not see or hear all of the details of speaking when dreaming, neither could Bret. Bret’s clothes are in civilian attire, a brown pair of pants, perhaps a plaid shirt, whatever he imagined he may have been wearing.
I had met W.C. fields
, says the glowing bright cowboy Herman to Bret, I see him now and again,
Bret listens to him remark.
He died about three years after you Herman
Bret tells him Then,…. you died, but not at God’s hands
continues Bret.
I don’t expect you to avenge me, it is not your way
adds Herman to the subject.
I should hope not, my good friend
says Bret.
You wait until you see Heaven, you cannot imagine the beauty it is and the serenity it possesses,
Says Herman in addition to Bret.
Bret looks down for a moment and notices they are sitting suddenly on a moldy large log.
Is it like clouds and light and-
Anything in life you ever desired for the best is up here waiting my friend
Adds Herman cutting in to Bret’s description of it.
Herman stands up, tips his hat, then walks toward his glowing white horse, petting the side of the white horse.
Bret follows him for a short amount of steps.
There is one more thing, Bret
Herman says to him, looking directly into his eyes, Beware of the dark one
Herman tells him in addition, then climbs up on his saddle.
Bret is standing there with a dumbfounded look on his face What do you mean, my friend?
asks Bret. The next moment, Herman steers his horse to one side beginning to Gallop away.
Herman?
asks Bret, but it is too late, Herman is riding twenty feet away and more into a fog. A vaperous fog. Then the fog finds its way around Bret.
Bret is startled and wakes up, opening his eyes slowly. He turns to see Beth Jane, his wife, next to him. Bret slowly smiles reaching his hand to her forehead and caressing it.
Bret recalls the last thing Herman had said to him in his dream. He recalls the way Herman died just over three years earlier with a heroin needle in his arm and Herman, naked and at the bottom of a water filled bathtub.
He steps down his house hold stairs and looks at the grandfather clock given to him by a family inheritance. Bret then walks through the kitchen doorway and sees a smaller clock by the towel basin and hanging kitchen utensils and sees it is the same time, 7:45 a.m..
I believe I will get myself to move
, He says to himself, walking back up to the bathroom of his in the hallway, removes his clothes inside then proceeds to take a shower.
Has it been five years?
Bret asks himself, soaping his muscular body and washing his short dark brown head of hair.
When he is done dressing himself up, Bret looks at his red haired wife Beth Jane, still resting and kisses her on her cheek.
ooh
She slightly moans My, you are in good spirits today, aren’t you?
reacts Beth Jane to him.
Is today the first day of summer?
Bret asks her.
Not for another week
She replies, standing up and placing on her robe.
In the start of the summer in 1948, The Callers have now introduced a new member of the family, Samuel Caller. Everybody loved the baby, who was born three months earlier. Big sister Susan became fond of him, half expected, since she was not the baby of the household anymore.
Casey Renney, the elder child and first born of Beth Jane, now twelve years old, had just become an adolescent and had troubles at school, including some unruly peers. Once the boys at school had seen Bret drop off Casey one morning, their attitudes toward him changed instantly. Casey could say he now belonged with somebody at school now.
This morning Beth Jane will go to work at her job as a typist for the police in the same precinct as her brother in law, Officer Michael Caller. Every so often she would see Officer Caller walk around the precinct by himself, with his partner or bringing in some form of person ready to be booked.
Before, Bret
