About this ebook

The muse that inspired me to write this book was the result of the examination of my DNA, with which I was able to discover the origin of my roots. This result led me to investigate the different beliefs of each of these cultures; in the myths and legend that for years have become an indecipherable riddle. For these different ethnic groups that complements in my DNA 24% of the Native American race, 14% of the African-American race, and 19% of the Spanish race. Which directly or indirectly allowed me to enter into the unknown and paranormal world and at the same time inspired me to write a story that dealt with the mythological legend of phantoms, witches, the living dead and psychic that decorates and defines the novel of The Phantom of The Golden Harp.

    INTRODUCTION

T his story is about an indigenous laborer named Kupac-Amaleh who lived in the small town of Haverstraw, New York in 1918. His boss Dashira Robinson (Dasha), a witch of gypsy origin, after she was rejected by him, placed the curse of the wandering dead on the young Apache´s horse, Black Tail, for the rest of eternity, turning him into a living corpse with the magical power to take human lives with his fiery gaze every full moon. This curse also turned him into an atrocious Phantom every new moon, a terrible creature of darkness with the spooky power to enslave the souls of those he killed. This curse of the full moon can only be broken by the spell of Melissa Robinson. The curse of the new moon will be broken when Kupac finds true love in the last descendant of the Robinsons.

    CHAPTER 1

    DASHA’S CURSE

I n the small town of Haverstraw, that Friday, December 13 th , 1918, the silver moon illuminated the gloomy forests of Albany that led to the stunning Robinson estate. There was a harsh and powerful winter storm in the state while at the Robinson estate, dozens of laborers earned their living working in the ranch´s huge pasture. The animals were trained to become fine horses for riding and racing. In the prestigious estate there was also a cattle the laborers milked to then process the milk in the pasteurization machine, where it would later be distributed throughout the different shops in town. It was a bone-chilling night and the white snowflakes turned the slippery avenue into a lethal weapon for the circulating traffic.

John and Alyssa Robinson, a young farming couple, had been driving their dull blue car heading towards the estate after closing the big contract with the wine factory in Albany State. When suddenly, a white child appeared before their eyes, walking towards them, asking for help while moaning with sounds of death. Her white clothes were stained with blood and the full moon´s rays revealed the lethal wound by a sharp knife on her neck.

They lost control of the vehicle and, because of the snow, plowed down the cliff on the right side of the road, just before reaching the village of Haverstraw. The Robinsons died instantly with the impact of the fall, while the papers that credited the Robinsons as the absolute owners of the Dawson’s wine factory flew, falling as if by magic into the hands of the supposedly wounded little girl, who instantly turned into a blue-eyed woman wearing an outfit from 1818, adorned with a white belt decorated with half-moon drawings and a talisman on her right hand that showed the powerful hierarchy of her magic.

    - At last I have the contract papers! - exclaimed Dasha, the gypsy witch as she gripped the papers tightly in her hands. With en evil laugh she was lost in the dense fog, disappearing from the scene of the events.

She took absolute control of the Robinson estate, the wine factory, basically, of all their material belongings; however, Yandra Robinson, the Robinson’s youngest heiress, was hidden by an elderly couple when she was just one year old, while terror was taking over more and more of the Haverstraw village residents because of the terrible deaths of the men and women who appeared in the forests with their throats cut in Dasha´s rituals, because that’s what the men of the gypsy community of New York called them back then.

She, 30 years later, remained the sole owner of the estate, her power stretching over much of the county and surrounding towns. The chores of the ranch became even more demanding, so Dasha the witch was forced to hire new employees, among which was a young 25-year-old indigenous man, whose parents baptized him with the name of Kupac-Amaleh, meaning Eagle Eye.

Dasha, the gypsy witch, had challenged time and space with her magic, because despite the passage of time, her skin remained flawless, as if the effects of old age had no power over her body. She drew the attention of the new laborers when she walked, swaying her slender waist.

    - Isn´t our boss the most beautiful woman in the county? - Scott Matthew asked the native James O’Neil whose native name is Kupac-Amaleh.

    - It´s true that she is very beautiful, but I think we should focus on our work - James replied with a smile.

    - I think she saw you - Scott added.

    - Don´t even think about it, she would never notice me - said James -. Besides, I´m looking for a true love that doesn´t exist in the real world - the young man said, eagerly waiting to be called to start working.

    - Honestly I wouldn´t pay her any attention, quite the opposite, I´d rather die full of worms than go to bed with her - Scott answered with rejection.

    - Haven´t you heard what is said in town? - Scott asked. Miss Dashira Robinson has a pact with the devil! - Scott said in fear as the witch Dasha glared at him from her crystal ball.

    - Get in line - the foreman Elliot interrupted their conversation while each laborer went to work.

Scenes of the Witch Dasha and Scott

The cats´ meows gave goosebumps to all who heard them, while Scott was tossing and turning in bed trying to fall asleep to no avail. The winter winds blew so strongly that the temperature dropped to 10 degrees below zero and the laborer Scott tried to wrap himself in his double blanket. When suddenly, the doors of his wooden hut opened abruptly, and he heard a voice from beyond the grave.

    - Scott, I’m coming to settle the score with you! - exclaimed the witch in a mysterious and chilling voice.

He quickly took his gas lamp because of the dense darkness of the night to see who was talking to him. His legs began to tremble when he heard with certainty the voice that spoke and did not find anyone in his room

    - Who are you? - Scott asked, shaking in fear.

    - It´s me, your boss - the witch replied bursting with laughter.

The lamp that Scott held in his hand fell on the wooden floor causing the shack to ignite in flames, but when Scott heard the evil voice from the below the Earth he swore it said:

"Eye of the ice that burns in the heart of the fire, calm the power of the flames"

The ravenous fire was extinguished as if by magic, then a radiant light illuminated the room and he could see how a huge rattle entered the bedroom and was turned into the witch Dasha, while he was totally paralyzed by the evil spirits which did not allow him to move or speak.

    - Scott, I heard you say that rather than sleep with me, you would prefer to die eaten by worms, so listen carefully: when the first rays of light rise at dawn, your spirit will exhale and the worms of the earth will eat your flesh as you take your last breath and die - the witch finished before disappearing out of sight.

Two hours later, the first rays of sun welcomed dawn while Scott fell to the ground, lifeless, eaten by worms. Many of the laborers, terrified by the discovery, decided to leave the Robinson’s great estate, but due to the great misery which they faced, they chose to continue working for the master Dashira Robinson, or the witch Dasha, as the townspeople called her.

    - How can you be brave enough to continue working for that wicked witch Kupac-Amaleh? - asked Mycah, the mother of Kupac-Amaleh, a Scarface Indigenous woman known in the town for her gift of reading smoke clouds through her wild-leaf tobacco.

    - That´s enough mom, I do not want you to call me Kupac in front of my friends, my name is James O’Neil - he replied, embarrassed.

    - Son, do not be embarrassed about the name I gave you because I named you in honor of your grandfather Kupac-Aru, which means brave bear, I also had many problems with your father Andrew O’Neil after I named you Kupac - answered the indigenous Mycah -. I curse the time I married a white man - Mycah added in a fit of rage.

-Why do you hate him mom? - James asked, surprised by her attitude.

    - Because he left us to for the arms of a white woman - the indigenous women answered with a frown.

Suddenly, the police authorities filled the Robinson estate to investigate the mysterious death of the young Scott Matthew, while James O’Neil and his mother left the property.

    Scenes of the Brown family

It was a rainy afternoon in 1948, with winds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and whose wind chill felt like 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The rain raged and the strong winds made the two windows of the the young Yandra Brown´s bedroom clash.

She was thinking endlessly as she could not fall asleep, but after 4 hours of insomnia, she finally fell asleep, dreaming of the spirits of her real parents. They enchanted her with the melody of a golden harp which drove her to follow
