Dedication to
my wonderful parents for being my biggest role models and showing me that believing in myself is the first secret to success and ultimate happiness.
Secondly to my amazing Husband for not only loving me unconditionally, but always being my motivator and true best friend.
Love you dearly.
My last dedication would be to children and young people in care all around the world for their strengths and abilities to conquer and positivity in their transition from childhood into adulthood and ultimately making a difference as extra ordinary individuals in the society.
PREFACE
This book analyses the complex relationship between the support plans in place for children looked after (CLA) and their quality of care. In the provision of care and support for all children, there are national (UK) and international (United Nations) guidelines laid down, not only in achieving the five outcomes outlined in the document Every Child Matters
but also in achieving equality and human rights for every child, as enshrined in the United Convention for the Rights of the Child. This research will explore the extent to which these guidelines have ensured the quality of care provided to CLA aligned with the provisions in these guidelines. The book critically analyses the quality of care provided to CLA, employing the four Ps
as tools of analysis (participation, protection, prevention, and provision) as outlined in the Child Rights Convention (CRC). By using this framework, the book shows the importance of the four Ps in providing a high quality of care and support to CLA.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Foremost, I acknowledge the grace of God for making it possible to complete this research despite several challenges during the whole process. Secondly, I thank my family for their genuine love and support, without which the project would not have been possible.
And the final acknowledgment is to all my readers for taking time to read my book.
