About this ebook
The views expressed in this book are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Coalition of Chiefs for Bono East Region.
Political administrative regions are created in response to complex economics, politics, and endless array of forces. In a developing country such as Ghana, region creation is primarily seen as part of a broad process of industrialization as a result of spatial dynamics of population and economic activity.
New regions affect population dynamics as, for instance, when businesses extend their presence and operations into them. This increases the population of the existing districts and municipals within the region. Those districts and municipals that become too big may be split up into smaller units.
Thus, the new district and municipal assemblies join the existing ones to spread socioeconomic development across the country through local governance. This helps fulfill the core mandate of districts and municipals, as drivers of socioeconomic development.
To help minimize historical distortion, this book tells about the untold story behind the Bono East Region and the impressive contributions made by certain individuals. This will serve as their legacy so that future generations can read about those contributions and accord them their rightful places in history.

Foreword
Following overwhelming outpour of calls from chiefs, politicians, and opinion leaders across certain parts of Ghana for additional political administrative regions to be created, President Nana Akufo-Addo did set up the Brobbey Commission of Inquiry.
Among the terms of reference for the Commission, per the 1992 Constitution, was to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the existence of a substantial demand
for the creation of new regions. The Commission recommended the creation of six new administrative regions in Ghana. On December 27, 2018, the Electoral Commission conducted referenda, per constitutional provision that resulted in overwhelming ‘YES’ votes.
Among the new regions was Bono East.
Narratives of major historical events of Ghana have often been handed down to latter generations in the form of the so-called ‘oral tradition.’ This leaves much room for distortion of facts with passage of time.
This book tells about the untold story behind the Bono East Region and the impressive contributions made by certain individuals. This will serve as their legacy so that future generations can read about those contributions and accord them their rightful place in history.

Acknowledgments
Writing a story book of a magnitude, such as the creation of a new region, is somehow akin to filing for bankruptcy. In both situations, one is confronted with what appear to be limitless debts. It is impossible for me to acknowledge individually the countless men and women whose ideas, financial support, morale support, and other contributions made this historic event of a Bono East Region a reality.
The criticisms that I received, while not always adopted, nevertheless were generally on the mark, and have added clarity and inclusiveness to the finished product. I am grateful to Mr. Edward Anane, CEO, The Techiman Times newspaper; and Mr. Eric Konadu-Yiadom, CEO, Eric Spy Construction Ghana Limited, Techiman.
I am also grateful to the following media organizations and union within the enclave of the Bono East Region: Classic FM, Asta FM, Akina FM, Winners FM, Free FM, The Citizen Times in Techiman; Akyiaa FM and Jerryson FM in Nkoranza; Adars FM and Duapa FM in Kintampo; Star FM in Atebubu; Alive FM in Yeji, and the GPRTU.
I also express my sincere gratitude to all Chiefs and traditional rulers, Municipal and District Chief Executives, and Members of Parliament in the Bono East enclave; Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Anyimadu, Clerk of Parliament of Ghana; Mr. John Owusu Agyeman, Legal Consultant, Aduofua Chambers, Techiman; Mr. Prince Yaw Donyina, former Municipal Chief Executive, Techiman; Mr. Obed Asante, CEO, Ghana Nuts Limited Techiman; Dr. Kofi Amoako-Gyampah, CEO, Amoako Healthcare City, Techiman; Dr. Kofi Opoku-Agyeman, CEO, Opoku Agyeman Hospital, Techiman; Mr. Joseph Adom, CEO, J. Adom Construction Limited, Sunyani; Mr. Danso Abeam, CEO, Ghana Link Network Services Limited, Accra, who made tremendous commitments to the cause of the Bono East Region project.
