Chapter One

Whatever God Is Able To Do, He’s Willing To Do

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Luke 4:18-19

And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

Luke 4:23-24

I was teaching a series, Learning to Utilize the Anointing, a few years ago at our church, Faith Word Fellowship, when God began dealing with me concerning this teaching you’re reading. In that teaching, one of the points I emphasized to our congregation was how Jesus’ hometown church didn’t see Him as their Answer, therefore they were unable to utilize the anointing that was on Jesus. They didn’t take advantage of what God the Father was making available to them through Jesus. Jesus showed up at that church ready to remove burdens and destroy yokes, but that church congregation didn’t believe what He declared that day. Every person who came to church brokenhearted that day, their Answer was standing in front of them. Every person who came to church broke and poor that day, the Solution to their lack and insufficiency was right there. Every person who was captive to something, maybe an addiction or a fear, could have been delivered that day. Every person that was blind or bruised, their Healer stood before them that day. But instead of stepping out first and acting on the Word that Jesus declared, they shut down their spirits and despised Jesus. Jesus then spoke where they were (He read their mail so to speak!). He revealed what was on the inside of them in verses 23 & 24. They wanted Him to do something first before they would believe and accept Him. They were established and stuck in the wait and see realm or the see then move realm.

In my discourse, I began pointing out that in order to utilize the anointing, you can’t wait and see, or see then move, before you act on the Word of God. The Word of God is the Source of the Anointing! You have to receive it as truth and not despise it. If you hear the Word and fail to act on it, you’re despising it. And truth despised is revelation denied! You didn’t get that! I said, Truth despised is revelation denied! And when you despise the Truth, which in turn causes you to deny the revelation of that truth, you’re also denying the results that are to be produced from that revelation!

There is always someone waiting to see something first before they will ever move all the way out on what God has said. God doesn’t want you to play this wait and see game. He wants you to trust His Word, and believe in the truth that He will never lie (Num. 23:19)! I told our congregation that they have a choice. They can either choose to be like this church congregation in Luke 4, or they can release their faith and believe that first of all, God has anointed their man of God - their Pastor! And their Pastor, because of a Divine deposit from God, is carrying a Word from God for them; and with that Word, is also able to command a victory in their lives! Then second, God has also anointed each one of them to aggressively remove the burden that may be harassing them and destroy the devilish yoke that may be oppressing them. See, we’re in this thing together!

The church congregation in Luke 4 didn’t see Jesus as their Answer! They didn’t recognize Him as their Gift from Heaven! So Jesus said no prophet is accepted in his own country. Let
