    Earth God’S Footstool - Tannye

    CHAPTER 1

T he storm descended like the blackest night an hour before dusk. Hundreds of lightning flashes suddenly came in quick succession and the thunder sounded like exploding bombs. The worst of the storm seemed to be sitting on top of their home. Leaves, small twigs, and moss, were blowing into Tesia Ochsner’s pool in her backyard.

Tesia looked out her kitchen window as she loaded the supper dishes into the dishwasher. Tesia was a woman in her early forties, her blonde hair flowed down to her shoulders. She looked concerned as the wind and rain whipped around in circles. It was October in north central Florida, and there could be small tornados when the cold and hot air collided.

A twig suddenly bashed hard into the kitchen window making Tesia jump. Then the weather alert radio sounded it’s loud alarm and a male meteorologist made an announcement in a computerized stern voice.

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until seven p.m. for Marion County, Florida. The most severe weather is centered in the Southeast part of Ocala. This storm is capable of producing quarter size hail, and winds up to sixty miles per hour.

Payton came running to her mother in the kitchen, What did it say?

Payton was ten years old and in the fifth grade. She was beginning to develop as a young women. Her blue eyes sparkled with excitement and her long blonde hair whipped back and forth crossed her back as she ran to her mother for a hug. Payton’s white porcelain skin made her look like a china doll. Her unusual beauty and grace caused people to think she was older than her brother, yet she was the baby sister.

We are under a severe thunderstorm warning, answered her mother as she stopped to hug her.

Then the radio alarm went off again. The meteorologist added, Tornado Watch, in downtown Ocala, Florida. Conditions are right for the forming of a tornado. Take cover in an interior room!

We need to go into the closet in the hallway. Get your brother, shouted Tesia to her daughter over the thunder. They headed through the house towards the bedroom areas.

The lights flickered off and on. Tesia found both of her children in her son Luke’s room looking out the window into their back yard. They all were mesmerized by the three hundred year old oak tree in their back yard which looked now like a tilt-a-whirl carnival ride. The large branches were rotating in the wind up, down, and from side to side. They had never seen the tree do that before. They all felt scared and ran towards the closet.

Their mother said as they ran, A limb may come down right through the roof.

Luke was twelve years old. He was intellectually bright and in the seventh grade. He had the goal of being asked to be in the International Baccalaureate Program at Vanguard for high school. He was serious about his future.

Luke’s hair was a mixture of his parent’s hair. In the summer his hair looked blonder due to the bleaching of the sun like his mother’s. In the winter his hair looked red like his father’s. He was only a little taller then his sister, she had gone through a growing spurt before him.

Luke felt invincible in many ways, but he remained obedient and respectful to his parents. He thought that his mother especially was over-protective. He had a sweat ring around the neck of his t-shirt. He had been exercising in his room with his weight machine before the storm hit. He wanted to be buff and to have a ripped chest. He desired for the girls to like him, and they did, but he did not know what to do about it yet.

Payton squealed as she stepped into the closet and huddled inside. Mrs. Ochsner hugged both of her children tightly. Payton said what they all were feeling, I wish Daddy was here.

Luke began to pray aloud. He was the spiritual leader whenever his Dad was not home, and he was always sensitive to his little sister’s fears and protected her. He prayed for their home to be kept safe and their neighbors, too. He asked for his Dad to be out of the storm wherever he was. Please God, calm the storm quickly and give us peace. They all felt a calmness come over them. They were not going through the storm alone because God was with them. Payton thought of the bible story of Jesus and His disciples in the boat when a large storm came up.

She said the bible verse out loud, Even the wind and the sea obey Him, (Mark 4:41).

Tesia thanked her children for their faith and they continued to hug for a minute because their mother would not let go of them. Loud booms were still being heard from the thunder. Finally, Luke protested and began to pull away. Payton did not mind, she felt safe in her mother’s arms.

A few seconds later, there was a loud explosion in their backyard. It shook the ground and it rattled all the windows and doors. They could not help but run back through the darkened house to look out the window of Luke’s bedroom. Nothing had come through the roof. Thank You God!

They could see when the lightning flashed that a massive tree limb was down. There were pieces of metal and several small fires. The tree branch had pulled down a power line, it was jumping up and down giving off sparks. It looked like a small plane had crashed. They could see no wings only part of the body of the plane. Silver grey pieces of metal transformed their backyard into a disaster area! There were electrical looking foreign things on the ground on fire. They looked closely, but did not see any people to help.

The plane had taken out their tree house. The whole family had built the tree house together several years before. Splintered green colored pieces of wood from the treehouse were scattered across the backyard adding fuel to the fires.

There were metal triangular struts which had aluminum sheets crumpled up, and still attached to them. The triangles were attached to what looked like a metal curved spine. The aluminum material seemed to be the body of a plane. The silver was shiny, but it also seemed to be transparent when the lightning flashed. They registered this fact in their minds, but it did not make any sense to any of them.

Tesia thanked God in a silent prayer that the plane had not hit their home directly. Then she went into ‘Mommy mode.’ She grabbed her two children by their arms, Come away from the window. Call 911, she ordered her son.

Luke took out his cell phone from is shorts pocket and dialed 911. He excitedly told the operator, I think a plane has crashed into our backyard. He gave the operator their address, then hung up as his mother pulled him through the dark house towards their garage.

Luke quickly began to use his phone as a flashlight. Tesia told her children to get into the car. The children protested, but did as their mother asked.

Tesia Ochsner was scared for their lives. She thought, if the plane’s fuel explodes we could die. There could be bodies strewn across our driveway. What if they block our way of leaving? Her heart was racing. She told herself, we did not die. We are okay. God protected us. Then she prayed, God, please continue to protect us and our home! Thank you God, and please help the people from the plane crash!

Get in the car now! Close your eyes and don’t look, Tesia firmly ordered her children. Tesia tried to open the garage door with the button, but it did not work because their power was off. She yelled to Luke,Help me manually open the garage door, son.

They knew what to do. Prior storms had knocked out the power briefly. Often there were heavy rain showers in North Central Florida once the afternoon temperature met its high. Yet, this storm seemed much worse than the usual. The weather had been changing and becoming more harsh and severe.

Luke and his mother fumbled around trying to manually open the garage door. Tesia found the cord that hung from the ceiling then yanked hard on it. The tracking bar was released and Luke opened the garage door.

Tesia wondered, did a tornado touchdown in my backyard and bring down a plane? Is it global warming, or the birth pains of the End Times causing the severe weather?

Luke and his mother got back into the car. Tesia could see from the lightning that there were no bodies blocking the driveway to the alley behind her home. Luke’s phone was ringing, and ringing. Luke was not answering it. Luke would not talk to his girlfriend on the phone in front of his mother or his sister. He felt awkward and shy about his first relationship with a girl.

Their mother was expecting a fire truck with the ambulance service to arrive at any minute. She could smell the smoke coming from her back yard.

Luke asked loudly again, Mom, why are we leaving?

Tesia tried to answer her son’s question, but the thunder drowned her answer out with it’s deafening booms. All that Luke and Payton could heard was the words, …blow up… fire ball!

Payton burst into tears and screamed, What about Betty and Thomas? Will they burn up?

Mrs. Ochsner turned on the engine of the car, and then she hesitated. Luke, go and get Betty out of her crate quickly. Thomas is outside somewhere, he was out before the storm began. Cats hang around their territory, so he will hide and be okay.

Tesia waited in the garage for Luke and the dog to get into the car. Payton rolled down the window in the back seat, and she called for their cat. The rain was pouring down hard and pooling in front of the open garage door threatening to flood the garage. Payton kept shouting for the cat, Thomas! Thomas!

Luke ran into the family room. He felt his way around to the corner of the darkened room where Betty’s crate was located. Luke put his hands into the dog’s crate and felt her soft fur. The blond toy poodle felt safe in her bed.

Come here girl. Luke grabbed Betty and started back to the garage. He carried the dog in his arms for a moment then put her down as he felt his way. Once inside the garage lightning flashed and showed that Betty was running ahead towards the car.

Payton open the car door for the dog to get in, but she ran past it and out into the pouring grey rain. They could hear the dog as it ran down the driveway barking as she chased something.

Payton screamed for the dog, but Betty did not listen. The thunder boomed and rumbled. She was gone into the grey darkness. Luke got into the back seat of the car with his sister. He knew she would be upset. He was not going to run after the dog in the storm. Payton was now crying.

Luke tried to comfort his sister, I’m sorry, I did not except her to do that.

Tesia Ochsner began to slowly back out of her garage. There was a much brighter flash of blueish white light at the end of the driveway lasting for a few seconds.

Payton asked through her tears,What was that?

The lightning must have hit a power line or something, her mother uttered. The blue light flashed again, lasting a bit longer than the previous flash. Tesia thought now, Maybe it is from an emergency vehicle pulling up the alleyway. No thunder seemed to follow the flashs.

Payton yelled in a tearful voice. Wait! Her mother slammed on the brakes. Payton opened her car door and ran out into the rain to find the dog and cat.

Her mother screamed, We don’t have time for this. Get in! Payton got soaking wet in two-seconds. The rain was cold with the first change to cooler weather. There was a yellowish white lightning flash that hit their neighbor’s yard with a loud boom that followed immediately. It terrified them all. Payton turned back and got into the car. She did not see the dog or cat anywhere.

Payton wailed to Luke to get off of the extra-large towel that they used to cover the back seat of their car from the messes that kids make. Mr. Ochsner liked to take good care of his vehicles.

Payton began to dry herself off with the towel tossed to her from her brother. Their mother backed out of the garage slowly. The family dog Betty was Payton’s best friend. Luke’s phone rang and rang. The rain poured, the lightning flashed and the thunder boomed.

Mrs. Ochsner felt over stimulated in her senses as she imagined a fireball, and dancing live wires in the alleyway. She just wanted to escape. She did not want to run over anyone, or kill her beloved pets. Now, she feared being electrocuted by live wires, too.

She pictured in her mind the explosion from a plane crash that she had seen on the TV news a few days earlier. A huge fireball consumed the plane. Many of the people from the plane had been killed, and some people on the ground were run over by emergency vehicles.

The fire and ambulance people would be rushing to their home any minute! Mrs. Ochsner wanted to get away. She wanted her family out of harm’s way.

They turned left at the end of the driveway and still saw no bodies, or their pets. Mrs. Ochsner managed to say, Pray that our pets will be safe.

As she began to move forward, there was a loud bang, and the whole car shook. They all were startled and Tesia Ochsner froze for a few seconds. Payton gasped and shouted, Something has fallen on top of our car!

Tesia imagined a body from the crashed airplane getting hung up in the trees that lined the graveled alleyway. She thought, the wind has blowed a body onto the roof of our car!

Tesia looked very hard at the top of her windshield. She could see something hanging a little over the top of it. She waited for the next lightning flash. She realized she was seeing fingers, and part of a face at the top of the windshield. Tesia squealed then accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the brake. Their car shot down the alleyway at high speed. With the next lightning flash, Payton and Luke saw what their mother had seen. They all screamed out loud together!

    CHAPTER 2

A strange face peered in from the top of the windshield. The head and large eyes looked swollen and damaged. The head was completely bald.

Please, please Mrs. Ochsner, Please Tesia, help me! They will hurt me. They will kill me! Slow down!

Payton began to shrill a high-pitched scream that did not stop. She repeated,Ehee, ehee, ehee, ehee, ehee…

Tesia thought, who are you, how do you know my name? Tesia did not recognize this person. She made eye contact with the large black eyes for a split second then looked away.

Tesia saw the lights of a fire truck coming down Eleventh Avenue ahead of them. They will turn into the alleyway. They will hit us, she thought. She slammed on the brakes. The body on top of the car went flying off hitting a clump of trees and then landed in the bushes.

Mom you just killed that person, shouted Luke. The fire truck did not turn in the alleyway, but instead went on and turned onto Ninth Street were their house faced. The car slid to a stop and Payton and Luke jumped out. They ran to look at the person who had been thrown off the top of their car.

Stop, don’t look, go get a medic from the fire truck to help. Go around to Ninth Street and get a medic, shouted their mother.

She did not want them to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Tesia worked in a mental health practice, she did not want her children hurt or psychologically scarred.

Before Luke and Payton could run to get help, a voice rang loudly in their minds. Stop, don’t go! They wondered if their mother had changed her mind. Luke and Payton looked back at their mother. She was still in the driver’s seat of the car with the door open. She looked puzzled. Then they looked forward again. Someone was standing in front of them in the bushes. It was where the body had been flung.

The lightning flash showed them a terrifying sight. They could not believe their eyes. Then the lightning flashed again. It showed a creature. It was a ‘snipe.’ It was a pretend creature that did not really exist. Nevertheless, here it was, walking towards them. Their hearts raced, their bodies froze with fear.

The creature began talking to them. It was hobbling towards them with a hurt leg! It was making a whimpering sound as it walked. It looked kind of human. It was naked and very skinny with long thin arms and hands. It had short legs and big feet. It had enormous black eyes with no whites in them, and a big round bald head. It was and alien!

The alien begged, Please help me. Do not let the others get me. Please, Luke, help me Payton. Please Tesia help me! They will kill me if they find me! The alien was in great distress.

All of this was being communicated without sound. The alien was not moving its small mouth as it talked to them. The thoughts were strong, like you were hearing a voice, but they were thoughts. They understood it, but they all looked at each other and did not know what to do.

What, what did you say? asked Tesia to the creature as she bolted out of her car. Tesia got between the creature and her children. Her arms were now stretched out as to shield Luke and Payton. There was an alien standing in front of them, looking at them, begging for help! Tesia thought, I must be hallucinating.

Your government and others will torture and kill me. Please help me. Tesia, Please help me into your car before they see me. The alien was calling Tesia by her first name. Tesia is an unusual name which means, ‘loved by God.’ How does this creature know who I am, and how to pronounce my name? Her name had been passed down from grandmother to granddaughter for several generations in her family.

I know you are loved by God, and that you love Jesus like I do. You are not hallucinating. Please help me into your car. Please, Tesia, Luke, Payton, help me to your car! demanded the creature.

The alien looked terrified. Its eyes squinted and pleaded with them for help. Tesia looked at her children again. What would be the danger to my children if I help this poor creature? She wondered, what would be the danger if I do not? She thought again. It is hurt! God would want me to help it. The alien knew all of our names. How could this be? Tesia wondered, is this all a bad dream? Can this alien control our behavior with its thoughts?

The alien eyes were large and almond shaped. It looked like the person in the ‘Scream’ painting that is so famous. It had pale grey colored skin. It was small and childlike. Its mouth and nose were tiny compared to humans, and it did not seem to have ears. Well, it had small holes on the side of its head. It was around Payton’s height, maybe smaller. Its thoughts sounded female. It did not appear to have
