    About the Author

    Introduction

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10 NKJV)

This book was written through several years of study in intercession and prayer. It became very clear to me that there are limited resources for those called by the Lord to intercede. The calling of intercession is a rare one even though we are all commanded to pray as saints.

It is interesting to me that nowhere in the Scriptures is there a gift of intercession or a gift of prayer referenced. However, we can see very clearly that it precedes every mighty act of God and every victory of God’s people. We also see that all the prophets and the people who were used by God in the Scriptures were prayerful. Think of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, King David, Nehemiah, Isaiah, and so on. As you read through the Scriptures, you will see that they were all prayerful men.

Our greatest example is Jesus Christ. He, being God, prayed. This is His example to us. The disciples never asked Jesus to teach them how to evangelize or how to work miracles. Instead, they asked, Lord, teach us how to pray. This should tell us how important the disciples saw prayer to ministry. They also saw Christ’s power from the Father through prayer.

We, too, must humble ourselves and seek His face so that He can heal our land. Being called to intercede by God is a huge responsibility. We must avail ourselves to Him 24/7. No one person knows all the secrets to intercession. No one person is the ultimate prayer warrior. We all learn something new everyday. Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, we learn and are given more if we are faithful in the small things.

My personal calling to intercession was one great blessing that I stumbled upon. Having not been discipled in it, I had to go directly to God. Christ Himself taught me how to pray. It was only after I was already interceding for others when I learned I had the gift of intercession. While I had a lot of trial and errors in many areas, I counted it as a blessing because my vision of intercession was not limited by man’s teachings. My thinking of how God works was not warped by man. I was not allowed to adopt bad habits that plague various denominations. The pervasiveness of praying witchcraft over others was not passed on to me because the Lord Himself taught me how to pray.

If you are new to intercession and you don’t have a mentor, count yourself as blessed and go directly to the Lord.

(1 John 2:27 NKJV) But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

This doesn’t mean that you must not go to church or be part of a prayer ministry. What it means is that whatever you need to learn about prayer, God Himself will teach you. There are principles to intercession, some code of ethics so to speak, and if you live and walk by these principles, God will teach you how to pray.

The calling to start a prayer ministry is often a confusing one for many. Let’s face it, there are not very many places that you can go to in order to find how to start a prayer ministry. There are not many places you can go to for resources that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. There are so many things involved in running a prayer ministry. We also have to remember that while this is a spiritual gifting, we need to do whatever is necessary for the ministry to be successful in this world. This means that there are government regulations, policies and business strategies that need to be employed to operate successfully and maintain that success. However, what makes a significant difference is approaching these things with a godly view.

This book was written to help you start what I would consider one of the most important and effective ministries of our faith. It will point you in the right direction to get the prayer ministry started and will give you useful pointers and tips to make you successful. This ebook is also not just a one time reading resource, but one that you will be able to come back to one year from now and be able to see some of the points covered. Maybe you have already been involved in a prayer ministry and you are just looking for resources to formalize the ministry. This ebook will help you to do exactly that.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

May the Lord bless you as you continue to serve Him.

    SECTION 1

    The Birthing Place

The birthing place for all successful ministries is in the Secret Place. The Holy of Holies. In the Presence of God.

God wants nothing more than to have intimacy with us and the only way to build anything successful for the Lord is to get His blueprint.

In this chapter I will go over how to establish intimacy with God so that your ministry will be build according to His blueprint. While I can write about this, you only get the blueprint by practicing the principles that you will learn in this chapter.

To get a full understanding of entering the Secret Place of the Most High God you need to understand how people entered the Secret place in the Old Testament. Why? There is a formula here that most people miss and it prevents them from entering into the presence of God.

As outlined in Exodus 35 – 38 the tabernacle of God was built according to specifications given to Moses by God. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it. (Exodus 25:9 NKJV)

The entire tabernacle was 150 feet long. The Holy Place, including the Holy of Holies was 30 feet long. The Holy Place was twice the size of the Holy of Holies so the Secret Place or Holy of Holies was 10 feet long. The Holy of Holies was behind a veil that went up 30 feet high.

The only person allowed back then to enter this place were the priests and they had to be from the tribe of Levi. Anyone who touched or entered the tabernacle would die if they were not a priest from the tribe of Levi (Numbers 1)

The Holy of Holies housed the Ark of the Covenant of God. The dimensions were 3.75 feet x 2.25 feet x 2.25 feet. The cover of the Ark of the Covenant was called the Mercy Seat and this had 2 Cherubim (angels) over it. Once the glory of God filled the Ark of the Covenant, His glory shone up between the wings of the Cherubim.

"You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold; two and a half cubits shall be its length and
