About this ebook

The Genesis Project

How old is the universe? In what dimension is God? How will the world end? What is dark energy? Are dinosaurs in the Bible? Why doesnt God grow old? Does the Bible talk about spaceships? When was Adam created? What are black holes? How did the world begin? How will the world end? Was the world created in one week?

These and many more are the questions answered in The Genesis Project. The book takes a look at the science of Genesis. You will learn about UFOs, higher dimensions, parallel universes, wormholes, time travel, antimatter, alien civilizations, and much more.

Little did we know that when God said, Let there be light, billions of years later, the remnant of that light will appear on our TV as static. This is a very enjoyable read on the origin of creation.

    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to a true friend - Ituah Ighodalo

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ

    (1 Corinthians 2:16)

This book is an exploration of the mind of God - His scientific genius.

    GOD IS NOT GREEK

On the surface, the Book of Genesis reads like folklore. That the Universe was created in seven days does sound like a myth if we must be honest. My children have seen the fossils of dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum. They know for a fact that dinosaurs existed tens of millions of years ago. Yet some say the world is only 6,000 years old. They believe the Bible says so. If the world is only 6,000 years old, how do I explain the dinosaurs to my children? Is the truth of their reality at odds with the faith of their father? Or should they just believe?

Perhaps we’re not reading the Bible right. Perhaps science does not contradict the Bible. In order to know the Bible we must study the Bible. Studying is not the same as reading. And we’re encouraged in scriptures to study: Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15). We must study the Bible analytically. Without this, we’re not dividing the word of truth.

When the obvious contradicts faith, the problem cannot be with God or His Word. God must be true. He won’t be God otherwise. He is Truth. We need to reconcile the contradictory obvious with our faith.

The science of creation is not an easy topic to write about. There is the science - a very difficult science to understand - and there is the challenge of communicating that science in digestible language. I spent two years studying the science. That was the easy part. The harder part was explaining what I’d learnt. I have tried to write this book 9 times! After a few chapters I was always stomped. The science of Genesis is not easy to explain in ordinary language. It is extreme science.

The genius of God is that He was able to code the Book of Genesis in simple prose. He camouflaged scientific technicalities in plain language. And that’s why we became presumptuous and I dare say simplistic in approach to the Book of Genesis. The Book of Genesis is a scientific manual.

Why did God reduce the Book of Genesis to a narrative? Because the Bible cannot be a book for scientists only! Or else Heaven will be full of scientists. What about the rest of us?!

The Book of Genesis is a scientific manual.

I didn’t want to write a science textbook. I wanted to write a pleasurable book about the science of my faith. I sought to follow the narrative simplicity of God’s style to explain difficult science. I wanted to write a book that many can understand, and enjoy, even if they lack faith.

The Western world talks about the myth of the Bible today because they lack a rational understanding of truth. Though I do agree that faith cannot be rationalised but we must explain truth coherently. If we don’t, we inadvertently turn the Bible into a myth. And we should not be creating myths. We should be creating awe. God is not mythical. He is awesome. God is not a Greek god.

Am I saying we need to validate our faith with science? Of course not! A quest for truth does not validate the existence of truth. The existence of truth validates the quest for truth. If it does not exist, why search for it? Science cannot validate faith.

I do not however believe that science is anti-God. Some scientists are anti-God no doubt, but science cannot be anti-God. If the secret things belong to God and those things that are revealed belong unto us and our children’s children as the scriptures declare, then scientific discoveries must qualify as those things that are revealed. Science is the patrimony of our race. Scientific discoveries are our genealogical heritage.

When we speak of the science of creation, we are indeed talking about the science of the Creator. I hope this book will show you the brilliant mind of the King, and just maybe His kingdom. Please keep an open mind. The science of creation is stranger than science fiction.

    BEFORE CHAPTER ONE… GAP ANALYSIS

There are two approaches to the interpretation of the Book of Genesis. The first is what is popularly known as the Gap Theory. It assumes that there is a huge unaccounted for time gap between Genesis1:1 and Genesis 1:2. That’s where the dinosaurs fit in according to this theory. It is a historical approach.

The second approach is what I term the Relativistic Approach. It is totally science-based. It is what this book is all about.

While the Gap Theory solves the dinosaur timeline problem, it has enormous challenges.

If the Universe was already fully formed in verse one and the first Earth was destroyed between verses 1 & 2, why does God need to create light again? Light already existed! It was the Earth that was destroyed not the Universe.

The second problem is that it does not solve the photosynthesis problem. The photosynthesis riddle is that trees were created on Day 3, but the Sun was created on Day 4. The theory does not address the problem.

If your child asks you difficult questions about creation, just give him or her this book!

The third problem is that it does not solve the water problem. Assuming the waters below the firmament is the sea, which water was above the firmament? And why would God store water above the firmament, even if temporarily. That’s not the physics of rainfall.

The fourth problem is that the Sun was already existent when the Earth was being recreated. But then we see the Sun being created again on Day 4. The theory cannot solve this problem.

The fifth problem is that the Gap Theory has no specific timelines. It is totally anecdotal.

It is for these and other reasons that I had to take a second look at the Book of Genesis. An alternative model had to be created to solve the challenges of the Gap Theory and synchronise modern cosmological knowledge with the historical reportage of creation in Genesis. This alternative model is the Relativity Model, the subject matter of this book. It is totally scientific in approach and solves all the challenges identified.

It is either we create a new model or we fall back on the blanket declaration of God’s omnipotence: God can do the impossible, the illogical, the irrational and the incomprehensible. But that begs the question of why God would give us a detailed narrative of creation when He could have terminated the narration just after verse one - In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth. Instead he spent fifty-six verses and two chapters explaining the step by step process of creation.

We can also assume that the narration in the Book of Genesis is not sequential, that the details of creation are reported in a chaotic manner, and that is why trees were created before the sun. But then that doesn’t sound like God. Is He not the one who instructed that  …all things be done decently and in order?

The good thing about the Relativity Model is that it incorporates the Gap Theory and solves the dinosaur problem as well. It simply pushes the dinosaur timeline further down. And it still makes room for a pre-Adamic race as envisaged in the Gap Theory. Even more beautifully, it is in total accord with modern science. Now, what our children learn in school about the creation of the Universe is no longer contradictory to their faith. If your child asks you difficult questions about creation, just give him or her this book!

    WORD

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then God said, ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’ Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament, and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day. Then God said, ‘Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear,’ and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth,’ and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the third day.

Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,’ and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness.
