    Juanita De Guzman Gutierrez graduated with a Master of Science in Education degree from Fordham University in New York City, New York, USA with a specialization in Reading. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines with a major specialization in English and a minor in Tagalog or Pilipino language. Tagalog is the official language of the Republic of the Philippines and is taught in all levels of schools up to the university. Miss Gutierrez has been a schoolteacher for thirty-three years in total since her graduation from the university. She has taught for twenty-three years in New York City, USA from pre-Kindergarten to junior high school levels.

    Upon graduation, she started teaching under the College of Education’s Department of English at the University of the East Secondary Laboratory School. This is the university where Miss Gutierrez studied and graduated from her high school and college degree in education.

    She has taught in the junior and senior high schools in the Philippines for ten years at the Guinayangan Barangay High School with her very own father as a Barangay or town captain equivalent of town mayor of the town who made the resolution from teacher’s salary to community improvement and safety. Miss Gutierrez’ mother was the first woman- councilor of the town and both of her parents winning unanimously without campaigning. The school where Miss Gutierrez first taught in Guinayangan Barangay High School in the hometown where she was born was founded when Miss Gutierrez mother, Mrs. Teodora Gutierrez was first-woman councilor.

    Miss Gutierrez was then elected teacher association president of whole town’s teaching force and has consistently received Outstanding Teacher teaching performance evaluations. As a school paper adviser and teacher of English and Tagalog- Pilipino Journalism, she led the students and newspaper into winning local and national awards.

    Miss Gutierrez then transferred to the City Public Schools of Manila teaching English Journalism at the Timoteo Paez Pilot School in Tondo, Manila, Republic of the Philippines. She was also assigned to teach English at the Esteban Abada High School in the City of
