About this ebook

Abraham is one of thousands of children who fled on foot after enemies set fire to their villages and often killed their families. The children walked over a thousand miles across Sudan and Ethiopia, ending up in refugee camps in Kenya. During their march, they suffered from unending hunger and thirst, illness and injury. They had to keep alert for danger from lions, crocodiles, and enemy soldiers.

Although Abrahams faith falters at times during his journey, he later discovers that his trust in God grew during his desperate march.

To all child refugees in the world.

The plight of the Lost Boys of Sudan deeply touched me when, as a reporter, I interviewed some of them. I want to tell their story to children in the United States to arouse awareness of child refugees everywhere. In this story, Abraham typifies children aged five and up, and John represents those above ten years old.

Untold numbers of children, called the Lost Boys" fled in terror from their homes and families as civil war raged across Sudan. To escape, they walked barefoot hundreds of miles across three countries, striving against hunger, thirst, crocodile-infested rivers and lions. Their story will enlighten children about child refugees and inspire faith, fortitude and determination in their own lives.
