Preface
My first book, In Search of Wisdom: The Pickle Jar Theory, after being released in October 2008, is being offered in over 150 different countries and 250 Internet sites. It contained a treasure of information concerning scientific wisdom revealed by God. In Search of Wisdom was described as a book that combines ancient wisdom and the science of today and melds both in a way that makes perfect sense. More than making sense, science of today is embracing and looking back at the scientific wisdom of the Bible, realizing it holds true today.
Fruit of the Spirit: Biblical Psychology is a continuation of wisdom revealed in the Bible as it relates to the psychology of the mind, physical health, and mental status. God warns us about ways of life that threaten our health and happiness. This book contains wisdom from a psychological perspective to prolong our lives and improve our health. This book will show how the Bible is the operations manual to obtain a healthy, long life physically and mentally.
Throughout the Bible, God gives health warnings to prevent illnesses. In this book health warnings are pointed out concerning psychological and emotional problems that affect our physical health.
The Bible was the first text to describe how emotions and mental thinking could affect physical health. It took over two thousand years for modern science to confirm this truth. This book will explore the psychological wisdom given in the Bible to improve our lives physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.
This book details illnesses caused by stress and negative emotions and explain in easy-to-read text the ravaging physical effects of a sinful, negative lifestyle. It is confirming to faith that health warnings inspired in the Bible are often superior to pills or treatment. How many people in mental institutions and hospitals are there due to a spiritual and/or emotional problems originating in the mind? The Fruit of the Spirit will give four case studies with examples of real clients who suffered from emotional disorders. The names in each case have been changed to protect client privacy.
The Bible addresses mental and emotional issues that may affect the heart and overall health. Proverbs set the foundation and highlights the importance of listening to and understanding biblical wisdom. The most significant warnings specifically identify hopelessness, anxiety, guilt, stress, anger, joyful living, envy, depression, and positive versus negative thinking. Each of these emotions and how they affect physical health will be addressed in this book.
In Proverbs, God tells us to pay close attention to his Word as it can prolong our lives. The following verses emphasize the importance of obeying God’s words and understanding their wisdom:
Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. (Proverbs 4:10)
All of the commands and wisdom provided in the Bible were for the purpose of prolonging our lives and living in harmony with one another.
My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight keep them within your heart; for they are life to a man’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. (Proverbs 4:20–23)
