About this ebook

There is nothing wrong with working in the field of genetic science. In most cases you will be helping law enforcement or curing illnesses. But you need to protect yourself. Do you really want to produce human wolf hybrids for the government? Always ask "Why do we need that!" DNA, Deoxyribonucleic Acid was described as the building blocks of life. At the time I was in school you couldn't play with the blocks. In the last ten years we have been able to play with them with reckless abandon. In new science even seemingly innocent things can go horribly wrong. What is produced with genetic science depends on motivation, usefulness and profit. In this fictional story, we find out what might happen if an animal was produced that looked completely human. The science involved is very possible. You can't inhibit scientific experimentation. What one enlightened sovereign nation might inhibit, another could allow. Human nature is far from benevolent.

The Animal Experiment - Les E. Cormier

    CHAPTER ONE

    All about Slaves

E mir Sabaha Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabaha was having a little get together of his contemporaries. He when with his contemporaries was called King Al-Sabaha. King and Emir meant the same thing. His contemporaries were mostly powerless potentates. They were from Asia and the Middle East.

In preparation he had the sand beaten down. He had carpeting installed on the desert. Over this they installed giant tents. All the luxuries were provided. The tents had television, air conditioners and refrigerators. They had all the luxuries of home. Expensive comfortable furniture nothing, was forgotten or left out. The guest’s began arriving. Once enough of them had arrived, King Al-Sabaha had a party in his main tent.

The tent was covered in fine silks. Belly dancers performed to drum music. There were tables laden with expensive food and drink. Most of the men in the room lacked real political power any longer. Some of course still did like, The Sheik of Omen. They were however all extremely wealthy men. That had a type of power attached to it. Most were oil rich as all the heads of OPEK were there. They represented money in the trillions.

For this particular type of gathering, they were allowed to bring their entourage. Now they didn’t bring a string of babe’s with them. That was hardly status here. They had more men than women. They had Doctors, Lawyers, Politicians, and Scientist in tow. That was what you had to have to gain status here. A lot of them of course had one babe in tow. They were something stunningly beautiful that wasn’t a wife.

King Al-Sabaha was at the head of the room. The others would come by and introduce their people. Then there would ensue probing and conversation to evaluated their people. Their reward was praise from there fellows for having such good people. A lot of times good business came out of it. These were always the best. Doctor Byron Weathers was with the King of Thailand. He was to be introduced to King Al-Sabaha. The man in front was a plastic surgeon.

When the surgeon was introduced he said, I would like to make every women as beautiful as Tara. The King said, No one Tara is enough. Everyone laughed. Tara was the king’s stunning beauty that wasn’t his wife. She was a Small boned Oriental with olive skin, almond eyes, really large round breast and heart shaped hips. No doubt the King was thinking about her personality. The surgeon couldn't be valuable, because of that comment.

Then it was Byron’s turn. They announced, This is Doctor Byron Weathers, Nobel finalist in Genetics. Byron bowing said, You’re Majesty. He then turned to Tara and bowed again. Tara said, Do you not want to make women beautiful like Tara? Well geneticists have different views of things. We would prefer to make a serum. That women could take to be beautiful or not as they wished—

Yaaah, screeched Tara, That would be terrible! Yes for you women I’m sure. But we men might take a different view. Especially ugly ones like me— Tara grunted, Ukk. She folded her arms and stomped her foot. All the men absolutely cracked up. It was like the funniest thing ever. You could have taken a dozen embarrassing photos. The King of Thailand was on his hands and knees. His gold braided hat was on the floor. Everyone was holding their sides in stitches.

The King of Thailand didn’t pick Byron because of his scientific ability. He had picked him because of his unusual and interesting ideas. Byron was a hit with them all. Tara was however miffed by the whole thing. She stuck her nose in the air.

Of course Byron had to be at the King’s table for more discussions. The Kings table contained most of the money and all of the power. The only women at the table had money or power or both. The Emperor of Japan didn’t qualify. He didn’t have enough power or enough money. He was at another table being hosted by somebody less important than King Al-Sabaha.

The King of Thailand had earned a place at the head of the table. He sat on King Al-Sabaha right. Byron was seated on his left. King Al-Sabaha had a roasted lamb in front of him. He cut some and put it on his plate. He then gouged out an eyeball. He said, Doctor Weathers would you like an eyeball.

Byron said, Is there something significant about the eyeball? Yes the eyeball is supposed to make you smarter— Oh I can always use more of that— Byron accepted the eyeball and popped it in his mouth. His only comment was, chewy.

In the old days we had slaves to stuff them much tastier. I guess we could pay someone to do it now. But it galls us sometimes to pay for such things. The money means nothing. But to pay for a worker that’s what bothers us— You miss having slaves. A geneticist could fix that—

The eating and drinking and conversation ground to a halt. King Al-Sabaha said, How would you fix something like that? We all have slaves. We call them Beast of burden, Livestock, pets. But they are our slaves. It would only be a matter of making an animal look human. Of course the start up capital for such a venture would be enormous— King Al-Sabaha said, What’s enormous to you doctor? Oh I would say sixty billion at least—

This was what the men at this table were into, investments in the Billions. Say you had your sixty billion Doctor. How would you proceed—? Well I would have to buy a functioning Genetic Pharmaceutical company. Then expand it and make it a profitable business—

From that I could have labs all over. Only part of the lab needs to work on the project. The rest of them can work on making profitable things. I can do the lab part. But my business building skills are not so great. I would think though the people here would know some good business people—

Of course they did, but first things first. King Al-Sabaha said, Do you know what we expect a slave to be? No not exactly— Well first a slave must have relatively low I.Q. a high-grade moron really. Then they must be passive and controllable— The king of Thailand threw in, They must be handsome and comely. The Sheik of Omen said, They must come in a variety, black, white and everything else. King Al-Sabaha said, Most of all they must fit in with the people of the household and take orders.

Byron thought, Could he really do it. They all seemed serious about it. He thought well some primate genes. This and that it could be done. It wouldn’t happen right away. They were just now producing the Genetic Technology necessary. Yes, he thought with the way things are advancing in genetics. It could be done. It may take a few years but defiantly would happen.

Byron said, Well… That is not such a difficult order to fill. I can build passivity into the genes. The amount of intelligence is based on how much animal gene’s they have. I can change looks by varying the gene pool to produce white, black or whatever. With some good training or brainwashing if you prefer that term. You would have what you want. A pretty controllable passive animal you can own. That would be perfectly human looking. But can be your property.

The interest in what Byron was saying had peaked. Everyone went back to eating, drinking and other conversations. But before this happened, a number of them looked at King Al-Sabaha. Like let’s do something about this. Then the party ended with everyone well fed.

They were relatively drunk on some expensive wine. They went to pick up their stunning beauties that were not wives. They headed to a tent. The stunning beauties were also drunk on expensive wine. So everyone had a good night.

As each of them left they went up and said good-bye to King Al-Sabaha. A lot of them slipped a piece of paper to King Al-Sabaha. Considering the way some of them were dressed. Where they would conceal paper was a mystery. Finally King Al-Sabaha retired from the party with Tara.

The papers turned out to be pledges. That amounted to over eighty billion dollars. King Al-Sabaha was so well liked, because he never took advantage of his contemporaries. They naturally wanted him to deal with the matter of slaves. He would arrange to fly in some business experts. The Team, they were so good. They had their own designation.

There were two men that made up, The Team. One was John Brooks. He was a Wall Street expert. He had taken part in many hostile takeovers of companies and raped them. He played the other side of the field also. He had protected companies from being taken over. He was also the main reason Gillette, didn’t get gobbled up.

The other was Berry Zimmerman. He was a fine tuning expert on internal company control. He dealt with proxies and corporate boards. He worked with the powers within the company and its internal organization. He reorganized General Motors when it swallowed EDS. He did as much for many other corporations worldwide.

Physically they looked like an odd couple. John was over six-foot, a robust country boy from Arkansas. Berry a short, thin, Jew with horn-rimmed glasses from New York. Despite their differences they worked together very well. They were the best business experts in the world at that time.

John and Berry arrived. King Al-Sabaha had them ushered in for a private audience. King Al-Sabaha told them that there could possibly be an eighty billion dollar investment. One they could take part in. Of course both men were extremely interested. They wanted to know what could make it happen. King Al-Sabaha explained the situation about slaves.

He then said that this wasn’t enough. He couldn’t have his people put up eighty billion just for slaves. There must be a profit in it. He wanted to know if the Genetic Pharmaceutical Company could produce profit in the Billions. John said, No from the description. It would just support itself and the project. King Al-Sabaha looked gloomy. He said, No profit in it then?

John said, I wouldn’t say that. There is a lot of profit in it. You just told us you are setting up a company to provide slaves. You are no doubt thinking of slaves for you and your friends. I happen to know the slave trade was very lucrative. There is no reason you can’t arrange to sell them worldwide. You could probably sell hundreds of millions of them. That would generate billions in profit. I think you could triple your investment—

This news brightened King Al-Sabaha considerably. He said, Gentlemen, you just became part of an eighty billion dollar project. That was how Genetic Research Worldwide was born.

Mr. Zimmerman finally put in his contribution. I will fine-tune the company to be totally under your control. But still be totally independent— King Al-Sabaha How would you arrange that?

Mr. Zimmerman explained, You and your people will hold all the common stock. Threw you I will have all the proxies. I can distribute them to internally control the company. We can raise revenue with Preferred Stock and Corporate Bonds. The profit could go out as dividends on the common stock. The proxies would allow me, to set up anything I wish for its corporation structure.

Mr. Brooks used his knowledge of the stock market. He bought all the stock in a Genetic Pharmaceutical Company. That was located in Oxford, England. The company had two products that were undeveloped. This was because of the lack of funds. Bryon made sure they were developed. While Bryon was doing this, John was obtaining additional smaller labs and other research facilities.

The first of the products developed was called Glow. In fact it was called, Grew, Glow Gold. It did two things one it increased estrogen in the woman’s body by twenty to twenty-five percent. Then there was a genetic based bonding agent. That increased skin elasticity. The results were a softer shapelier woman with fuller lips and more feminine.

The increased skin elasticity, cause many wrinkles to disappear over there whole body. It caused the firming up of breast and other body parts. The product was not cheap. But it was highly desirable. It sold extremely well and helped build up the company.

The second product was called, Grew Fat Free. This product became the number one diet supplement. It was so popular because all it did was affect the amount of fat processed and stored in the body. The body always did have ways to dispose of fat it didn’t need. The person only had to diet to get to the weight they wanted. Then they needed to find out how many Fat Free tabs. They needed to take to maintain that weight. It could be three or twenty-four or more depending on how much they ate and exercised.

The product didn’t affect their metabolism. It only reduced fat storage. They didn’t need to go hyper crazy. This product sold very well also. It helped build the foundations of Genetic Research Worldwide. The company acronym was Grew.

During the time John and Byron were doing their thing. Mr. Zimmerman was building his perfect Corporation. He started with the old men. They weren’t really that old in there thirties. They were Business and financially savvy. The men were the Senior Vice Presidents they held proxies. There job was initially to run the company. But also they had to recruit and train the executive staff.

They recruited children. A special type of person was needed to distribute and deal with the final product. There was not a single Executive Vice President or even an up and comer. That didn’t have an Uncle amongst the old men. They had known them their whole lives. Nobody knew them better than their Uncles.

Byron Weather’s started the research and set up the laboratories. He however died in four years. By then though, the company was a juggernaut heading for its goal. It was self-perpetuating and Byron’s death was just a bump in the road.

The Executive Vice Presidents out ranked. The Senior Vice Presidents in the corporate structure. But that hardly mattered. The old men held proxies. In a proxy fight the Executive Vice Presidents stood no chance and they knew it.

The executives at Grew may be short with and seemingly uncaring about their real fathers. But they were never like that with their Uncles. The Uncles had provided them with everything. Their fathers provided practically nothing. The fact that there Uncles had, Instilled a certain psychology in them didn’t register. Just that they had been there. Spending time with them provided them with toys and games. Also anything else they needed.

Even in the best of companies things sometimes go wrong. One Executive Vice President, Gerald Shockley became a blockage. He tried to divert the company from its goal. Twelve phone calls he was finished. Eleven of the calls went to the other Executive Vice President’s. They were asking for their proxy votes. The old men held forty-nine percent only two percent was needed for total control. Of the eleven calls all of them gave up there proxy votes. It was there Uncle’s after all. Leaving Vice President Shockley with his four point one votes to ninety-five point nine votes.

Proxy votes are like soap. They can slip out of your hands. The twelfth call was to King Al-Sabaha. Proxy votes were based on common stock. The common stock holder gave the barrier the right to vote their shares. That could be withdrawn, and the proxy votes given to someone else. The Shockley’s proxies were transferred to one of the old men. Now it was one-hundred percent to zero.

This was the condition the old men wanted him in. So he could be promoted. Yes promoted, to President and CEO. As it turns out the President sat and ran the full board. But nothing was ever done that wasn’t approved by the Executive committee. The Executive Board ran the company.

Shockley had zero proxy votes. He only had preferred stock and salary. Yes he ran the company with everything filtered through the Executive Board. He was really essentially powerless. He had money and status but that was all.

The President served another purpose also. He was the corporate scapegoat. If anything happened that would affect the corporation negatively. The President would have to pay the price. Money, status or even prison they would be sacrificed for the company good.

The Chairmen\Chairwoman of the board was also powerless. But she served a different purpose. She was the legal and political arm of the Corporation. She made the announcements to the press. She was the social and media presents.

She catered to the politicians for political power. She catered to the rich for social power. Both were good things for a world corporation. If it came to it she would be sacrificed also. They may even have to give up one of the Executive Board members. They were prepared for that also. There would still be eleven left to continue the corporate goals.

The current President and CEO, was very happy to take, the Demotion to Executive Vice President, he gleefully took the open seat on the Executive Board. Where he had power and proxies, money and status was crap. The unruly Executive Vice President was no longer a problem. He was the President now. Everyone had learned a lesson. Never try and divert the company from its primary goal.

The science of genetics grew in leaps and bounds. It was advancing ten times over each year. The company inched ever closer to its goal. The first thing needed was a Birthing Machine, at that time they were called artificial wombs.

They had two different experiments one was the artificial womb, developed at Juntendo University in Tokyo. It amounted to removing fetuses from animals and placing them in clear plastic tanks. Filled with amniotic fluid, stabilized at body temperature.

In this way, they kept the animal fetuses alive and growing for days. By connecting their umbilical cords to machines that pump in nutrients and dispose of waste. The problem with this method was they disconnected from the feeding tubs often. To reach term the fetuses had to be paralyzed with drugs.

Producing the fetuses in animals transferring them to tanks and then replanting them in animals. Wasn’t a system Genetic Research Worldwide wanted. However the technology was useful.

The second method was produced at Cornell University’s Centre for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility. They used endometrium, the lining of the womb. They learned how to grow these cells in the laboratory using hormones and growth factors. They grew layers of these cells on scaffolds of biodegradable material. Which had been molded into shapes mirroring the interior of the uterus.

The cells grew into tissue and the scaffolds dissolved. Then nutrients and hormones such as estrogen were added to the tissue. Finally, embryos were put into the laboratory engineered tissue.

The embryos attached themselves to the walls of the prototype wombs and began to settle there. The embryos put down roots and veins into the artificial wombs walls. Their cells differentiate into primitive organs and develop a primitive placenta.

Unfortunately do to some stupid American law. The experiments had to be terminated early. The scientist and engineers at Genetic Research Worldwide Inc. (Now being called GRW Inc. or just Grew), thought the two technologies could be merged together. Besides the developments were to allow human mothers to have children outside of their wombs. Grew had a different aim. They didn’t want to produce human children at all.

Genetic Research Worldwide started their own research and development. Someplace where they wouldn’t have any stupid laws to trip over. They called there project, Birthing Machine Development and Research. Within a year they had their first Birthing Machine. It produced an animal infant in three to four months. The thing was, the infants rarely survived more than ten days, fifteen days being the max. Something happened in the Uterus that made children viable. But the scientist at Grew didn’t know what it was.

With Scientific research the problem was eventually solved. Part of the solution was because of refinement and improvement. A more viable umbilical cord attachment was made with stem cells. It stayed attached for the whole gestation period. The second solution was discovered through persistent research.

It turned out that fetuses required constant stimulus. In Uteruo, they heard their mother’s heartbeat, body functions, and contact from the outside world. Fortunately with the help of a computer all this could be produced artificially. It was also discovered a psychic static discharge was produced between mother and fetus. This could be artificially produced also.

The final solution was discovered by accident as is often the case with advances in science. One of the birthing machines got contaminated. It was a discount model being tested. The scientist and technicians worked speedily to correct the problem.

The embryo had to struggle to survive the contamination. The resulting infant lived longer than any other almost three months. It seemed life had to be a struggle from inception until death. They would have to purposely contaminate the fluid to instill the survival attribute in the resulting infant.

It didn’t take long for Grew to put the things together and produce a useable Birthing Machine. With infants that survived threw infancy and beyond. It had taken fifteen years to get this far. But the results would accelerate there objectives considerably. This was not a long time at Grew. They didn’t even have an Executive board yet. Maybe in another ten years or so they would.

They started using the Machines to produce these little creatures. It was purely experimental, it took over seventy thousand genes to produce a human. Only certain grouping functions were determined so far. Much more gene maping was needed. The machines helped that along. Then gene sequencing came along. This allowed for genes to be altered at the molecular level to act like other genes.

At the time gene sequencing appeared. GRW Inc. had installed its first four Executive Vice Presidents. They were all very young men between twenty-eight and thirty-two years of age. They were however well groomed for there jobs. They all had doctorates in genetics. They were well aware of what was going on genetically in the corporation. They were also finance and business savvy. They knew how to keep the company profitable.

The experiments were broken down into two parts. One was the labs in Russia called the Degeneration Experiment. The other was the labs in the U.S. and England called the Sequenced Gene Experiment.

One of the new Executive Vice presidents were put in charge of each. There were only four Executive Vice President now. But that would change as more would be added until they reached twelve. The maxmium size suggested by Berry Zimmermen and that would be adhered to.

The next problem was to produce cheaper Birthing Machines. They cost ten thousand each. They were looking at needing at least ten million machines. They took the eleven-hundred-sixty-five parts in the protype specifications and went out all over the world to find the lowest prices.

They succeded in getting the price down to eighteen-hundred-seventy-five per unit. Still that was eighteen billion seven-hundred-fifty million dollars. Well more then the company made in a year. They would have to buy them a little each year and store them for future use.

They set a goal of one-hundred-thousand each year. The bill was one-hundred-seven point five million a year. The discount units looked cheap compared to the shiny crome and glass prototypes in the Grew labs but they did work. Now it was a waiting game until they could produce a sellable model.

They added four more Excutive Vice President’s. They might have had the complete twelve but some of the old men had to be replaced. They were really old men now some in there seventies. The old men had provided enough specially indoctrinated men to fill up all the slots though.

    CHAPTER TWO

    The Animals

G enetic Research Worldwide Corp known as Grew, didn’t want there creatures called Para-humans or Sub-humans. They didn’t want them associated with the word human at all. They didn’t want the word chimera either because that was a monster in mythology. So they called them Animals. Even though they would look human in every way, they would be Animals.

There was only one final piece of business that had to be dealt with. Many countries and individual States in the U.S. Had laws as to what you could do to or with animals. Grew could not tolerate any that would interfere with the sale and use of Animals as slaves.

They chipped away at them with every means available. Politically, with bribery and even through coroprate designed protest and violence. Grew needed the laws changed. So the results they produced could be used or abused with complete impunity.

Grew had done a good job removing unwanted laws. The worst in the States was Michigan no animal rights laws at all remained. Of course nobody ran out to shoot his neighbors dog. Anything like that created trouble of a different sort, one which the laws did cover.

GRW Inc, decided on putting a lab in Michigan. They purchased a large plot of land it used to be part of the Northville Sanitarium. Soon a building went up and Geneticists, Biologist and other personnel were being employed there.

Grew helped developed new techniques for manipulating DNA. Originally adding a small amount of foreign DNA to cells would alter DNA. Later Gene splicing was done where DNA was grafted to other strands. This Produced more predictable results. Grew added to the science there addition was called gene sequencing. This was where genes were altered with radiation. They emulated different genes. Grew wanted them too emulate human genes.

Northville would be the home for the Sequenced Gene Experiment. Executive Vice President Jeffery Finklestein was put in charge.

    GRW Inc. Labs Northville, Michigan

    Genetic Top-Secret Lab Area D

Jeff Finklestein was inspecting the animals in the cages. There were two of them one male one female. There were also trainers in each cage to manipulate the samples. They were kind of cute. They had very human looking faces. Hairless for the female bearded for the male. The eyes were a little close together but otherwise the faces looked quite natural.

The body of the males had heavy fur on top. It thinned out further down. The females had light fine short fur all over. There heads had longer fur, you could call it hair. There hands were quite natural looking. But the arms dropped below the knees.

The female’s breasts were coarse and flat looking and had black nipples. The genitals were not natural looking. The males withdrawn inside the females closed up looking. Once done looking at them Jeff said, Okay you may precede. Jeff walked back to the briefing room.

Jeff was one of the companies many Executive Vice Presidents. He was being briefed by, the Director of research Doctor Michael McGrouber. Everyone was aware that the real power and control at Grew was with the Vice Presidents and this one was on the Executive Board. Jeff Finklestein was young still, late thirties. He was impeccably dressed in a tailored suit. His dark black hair cut and combed perfectly. He was aloof and bright and extremely well educated.

The lab Director Doctor McGrouber was more like a typical college Dean. He was chubby with white hair and balding. He was wearing a white lab coat with a white shirt and tie. Grew was put together by only a few of the world’s wealthiest men. The Vice President’s were hand picked from all over the world. They were groomed for their positions.

    J. Finklestein was there to promote Grew’s main mission. He knew exactly what Grew’s mission was. He was one of the few men in the world that did. He had dedicated his life to it. From the time he was a small child in a Cabool in Israel. He was rewarded greatly for his dedication. In most respects he was not much different from the other Vice Presidents.

The Director droned on about the successes with treatments for spinal injuries. He talked about treatments developed for Muscular Dystrophy. He talked about serums to increase life spans. By adding antibodies and promoting the growth of new cells and tissue.

Jeff considered all these things important. After all they had to have income to promote the employment of top scientist. They had to run Genetic labs and facilities. He now however wanted to know about the real business at hand. That was the one. All the other business was only a front for.

Jeff said, What about the embryo research doctor, how is that going? Well we have managed to create a model with a human type ear, very difficult to manage that. Of course we are still failing in other areas— Such as what doctor—?

McGrouber said, The Arms length to the torso, excessively heavy body hair. The female’s breasts are more like a gorilla. This is because the skin is still heaver and courser then human skin. How much human genetic material are you using—? Well none we were charged to come as close as possible just using animal DNA only—

Jeff said, I think you have gone as far as you can in that area. I’m authorizing the introduction of human DNA into the experiments. Not more then twelve percent to start. Now Jeff was satisfied the twelve percent was covered in the new genetic experiment laws. The results would still be classified as an animal. Yes Jeff knew his business and Grew’s real mission. Grew’s mission was to provide the world with human looking slaves.

The company had a unique structure. The Vice President’s on the Executive committee made the decisions. They passed them on to the Chairmen and President. In this way if the head was cut off. Like a Hydra they could grow and new head. That would have the same objectives.

Jeff said, Doctor McGrouber how long do you keep the samples. Males eighteen months this tells us all we need to know. We keep the females longer about twenty-four months— Then you destroy them burn the carcasses and grind the bones up. Treat it with chemicals to remove all traces of DNA— Yes standard procedure Mr. Finkelstein— All the lab notes are only on self destructive finger disks. No hand notes— Yes as was instructed Mr. Finkelstein—

Jeff said, I’m asking you these things Doctor. Because as Director it’s your responsibility to make sure they are carried out. You of course send reports through the encrypted telex. Yes Mr. Finklestein I’m very security conscious. Have no fear I’m on top of this always— That’s good Doctor it is one reason we chose you. Now I’m afraid I must go as interesting as this has been. I have to catch a plane. Thank you doctor I hope to hear some interesting news in a few months— Yes Mr. Finklestein I believe we will have some—

Jeff gathered himself up from the comfortable chair. He headed for the door being trailed by Doctor McGrouber. We have mapped a lot of human DNA Mr. Finklestein. We should be able to pick the parts that will produce the best results— Of course Doctor I had expected no less. But we will still have to wait those eighteen to twenty-four months to see won’t we—?

Yes of course. But then I hope to give you some good news. Some great advances over what we have now— Well I hope to hear some of course. As long as your people are doing there best that’s what matters. After all, your group is in competition with other labs. All around the world don’t forget— I will not as I’m quite aware of it— Good—

They had reached the main door. McGrouber punched in the security code. The electronic door slid open. Jeff Finklestein exited the lab to the lobby. A young man stood up. He was defiantly oriental looking and should have been. He was born in Bangkok Thailand.

The young man was dressed in a chauffeur’s uniform. He was in fact Jeff’s chauffeur. But that was not all he was. He was a young person being groomed to a position of power at Grew. He had been trained militarily and was a marshal art’s expert. He was armed as he also acted as a bodyguard for Jeff.
