About this ebook
Lester Davis became coach in the mid-fifties when the schools in the south were segregated and continued his coaching after integration. He like many others felt the sting of a reluctant spirit that didnt want to change.
Nevertheless, he didnt dwell on negative things too much. He pushed forward to victory, after victory with the united community to support his effects. United we stand Divided we fallAll for one and one for all...F.I.G.H.T...fight! was the teams motto of the seventies, eighties, until nineteen ninety. The motto was all so fitting for some of the battles that were faced by the teams. Really and truly they were in a fight; some were simply to let us know we can win no matter how small. And we did, many times. Coach Davis lead his teams from 1956-1990 to many victories, over 783 winnings.

As I grew up, I watched everything in astonishment, often times proud but afraid at the same time. I was raised early in my life by my grandparents, Ma-Ma and Pa-Pa, my dad’s parents and my great grandma, Na-Na, in my first years of life, while my parents worked in Monticello, Georgia as educators. My brother, Tracy was born three years after me. I watched the victories unfold and learned that winning could be obtained with faith and a lot of hard work. I, too, like many others of my own race felt the sting of integration with discrimination always before me. Even though I am living in a much different time of racial unrest, I have witnessed and experienced the separateness and pressures of always having to prove I am human with my race and that of another race of people. I’ve learned, we all need to have a goal or mission to keep us focused and lifted spiritually which will hopefully keep negative issues like hatred from being a part of my inner self. I watched my dad try to maintain inner balance, with his natural self and spiritual self. It is true that obtaining balance is one of the hardest challenges we as humans may ever encounter but don’t ever give up; fight the good fight of faith! Your victory is near with faith in The Almighty. Sometimes we have to push through walls and barriers that are trying to hold us back but never give up on your mission, which I trust will be of good nature. My parents influenced me to teach; how could I choose any other profession, after watching them experience the rewards and fulfillment that come from helping others? I was challenged as a teacher on many levels like my parents. I taught in the Monroe County School system for 30.5 years in Forsyth, Georgia. A good challenge makes a good game and a good life. Without challenges, life would become boring and dull and who needs that?

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Library Review: "Dramatic, gripping, and moving, this sequel to the award-winning We All Fall Down will captivate readers. It's September 12th, 2001, and New York City is at a standstill: somber, bleak and shocked in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks. Will knows he and his father are lucky to have escaped; others, like his best friend James' father are still missing . . . and soon presumed to be dead. Poignant and dramatic, United We Stand is a young adult novel about heartache, self-discovery, and the power of friendship."MY THOUGHTS:In honor of 9/11, which happened 11 years and 1 day ago, I decided to review "United We Stand" by Eric Walters. It takes place 1 day after 9/11. It shows the aftermath of 9/11. I like how Eric describes how everyone reacted that day. It made me feel close to those people who lost someone in the twin towers. I recommend this to all of my friends.
