Tales from the Darkside - Gareth Grizz Ball
SHORT THOUGHTS.
HATE.
Just a thought
About what we talk,
Babies have no hate,
So treat everyone like a mate.
PEOPLE WATCHING.
I like to sit
Watching people
walking past,
All in such a hurry
to go…nowhere
clad in Italian suits
Designer dresses,
busy ignoring each other.
Poor…poor…people
HELLO
Hello, how are you?
I’m doing fine
Goodbye I’ll see you
I hope you liked my little rhyme.
BLUE DOGS.
Blue dogs running around my walls
My brain freezes and then it calls,
It isn’t really fair
To see what’s not there.
THE MOUSE.
See that mouse?
He has his own house
And a big mortgage too
To pay off the inside loo.
THE CHARM.
Someone threw a charm
Made the tattoos crawl around my arm
But I don’t mind the charm they threw
Because it gives me a different point of view.
THE TRAIN.
Hey! Here I am again
Riding on a steam train
Don’t know where I’m going to
Just hope we stop and pick up you
HEAVENLY BODIES.
Heavenly bodies
Are curvy you see
All the better to hold to me
Oh, heavenly bodies
I MISS YOU MY DEAR
I thought of you today
In a very special way
Thoughts made me feel so good
Just like I knew they would.
’cos I loves ya.
GREEN RICE TEA
Green rice for tea
That’s what it will be
I’ll even invite me
To attend my green rice tea
IMAGINARY FRIEND
My imaginary friend
Isn’t talking to me
She said it’s the end
You see.
TEA
Something that’s good for me
Is a nice cup of tea?
Hot and steaming
It keeps me beaming.
POLITICIANS.
Oh bugger it
Another greedy politician caught
With his snout in the bucket
Guess we’ve got the best to be bought
ALARMS
The alarms gone off
The old man’s died
Whoops, no he hasn’t
The machine has fried
RAIN
The rain is gusting past
The wind is blowing it fast
I’m glad I can hide
Warm and dry inside.
THE COLOUR OF YOUR EYES
The colour of your eyes
The clarity of which surprise
The look that will hypnotise
And make me forget your lies.
A PLACE FOR ME
If I look with all honesty
The only future for me that I can see
Is a nursing home
Where I can roam
Incessantly
AND I THOUGHT LIFE
WAS LONG
My youth has gone
When I was strong
Now old age is nearing
And my vision isn’t clearing
Shit! I thought that life was long
UNDERWEAR
You look good in fancy underwear
The skimpy stuff you used to wear
The type of stuff that turned me on
Especially when it was gone
Honest babe, it’s a pleasure we can share
LADY VAMPIRE
Why is a lady Vampire?
Sex on a stick
Is it so she can set us on fire?
And with her teeth can prick
MMMMM
God look at the bum on her
With tits to match
And between her legs
The loveliest piece of snatch
All waiting for me.
ANGELS
What’s an angel you might question?
Is it a winged being from Christian religion?
Or a beautiful girl that attracts a man’s stare
With dresses all the way up there?
AMBUSH
Lying in wait
In the dripping green
Frost forming on barrels
On moving parts
Fingers freezing hands numb
Breath billowing in vaporous clouds
Waiting silently
Waiting Waiting
ears straining for sounds
Foreign to the jungle
Eyes for movement,
Noses smelling for unnatural odours.
Noises! In the distance
Approaching
Approaching slowly.
Rifles cocking
Bullets loading bodies tensing
Awaiting movement
Foreign voices whispering
Tobacco smoke wisping
Give a ways in the forest green
A metallic click noisy kit
Closer closer
Movement sighted
Slow creeping movement
Coming closer they come
Targeted in the
Killing zone.
A STRANGE PLACE
I woke up in a strange place today
From home I think it’s far away
The sky is purple, there are two moons
Nearby a rock is carved in ruins
Where I am I have no idea
But of local people I am in fear
For lying in plain view
Are a butchered body or two
With spears through chests, they are nailed to the ground
Lying beside broken shields so round
large scavenging birds doth fly.
In the cloudless Purple sky.
Trying to guess where the dead came from
I scan the
