The Battle off the Court: A Survivor Story

About this ebook
Timothy Kendricks
My passion for people is undeniable, I've always wanted to be a help to people in many ways. This is one of my ways: putting my all into something that will be remembered for a long time. I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of eighteen, not knowing if I would live or die. During that trial, I gained something called faith. That faith from God helped me pull through. Being a top recruit in high school, playing basketball and being nationally ranked among players who are playing in the NBA was everything to me. It showed me that I was just as good as those guys. I'm from Jackson, Mississippi. I'm the youngest of five children. I love family. There’s nothing better than spending quality time with the people you love.

PREFACE
Statistics show that writing is one of the best relievers of stress, and even the Bible says, Write it down and make it plain
(Habakkuk 2:2). Therefore my prayer is that as the words pour from my heart onto the pages, the stresses of my past situations will be released and all who read them will be touched.
My purpose in writing this book is to release the stresses of heartache and despair, which occurred during my diagnosis of cancer and my loss of the game of basketball. My goal is to get in touch with the readers through encouragement and show them that that the Lord always provides a way of escape during the trials and tribulations of life. After reading, I hope they will learn what I learned—that even though you can’t see your way out of your situation, God has a better plan and purpose for your life. You only have to acknowledge Him through the good and the bad while continuously asking for His guidance.
I want the book to relate to teenagers especially. Most teenagers focus on becoming professional athletes and forget about the other side
