I, Max Jin, am now ten years old. I was born in 2005, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. I now live in Aurora, ON. I am a fourth-grade student soon going into fifth grade, and I have a few hobbies such as reading, practicing martial arts, playing basketball in a house league, playing video games, drawing little comics, talking with my friends, playing board games, card games, and also enjoy watching magic tricks. I like reading chapter books with fiction, adventure, and action, maybe fantasy too. I also like writing fiction, as for me, it’s easy to come up with a storyline that isn’t based on real facts. I live with both of my parents and my older brother.

The Adventures of Blaze and the Monster of Darkness - Max Jin
I STEAL SOME GOLD
Blaze
Hi. My name is Blaze. Weird name, I suppose. I live in a city, though I don’t remember the name of the city and in a dark alley with a makeshift roof made out of extra wood I found. I have bright yellow eyes, pale skin, medium brown hair, medium height, and skinny. For some reason, I don’t remember anything about my past, which is weird. I don’t have any parents, (I told you, and I don’t remember anything.) What’s even more weird, is that I always feel like I’m being watched, and every certain moment I see a kid about my age, about fifteen, maybe a bit older, but that’s all I could see. It’s because (I’m hesitating because I know you would never believe me). He would teleport when I look at him, and he seemed to have little ice dust flowing around him. This is extremely weird. I don’t know, but when I went into the alley, I met a gang of kids—maybe sixteen—who came at me with switchblades backed off when my hand suddenly burst into white-hot flames and crackling electricity. At that time, I shot electricity and fire until they retreated, their butts on fire and lightning in their veins. I don’t know how I did that, okay? Sometimes, I get a bizarre vision—no … it’s happening now. …
In my vision, saw myself half dead, holding a nearly-shattered flickering fire sword. A few feet behind was the kid who disappeared when I see him, almost dead, with a broken left ankle, broken left leg, a bent right arm, and lying down on the floor, sparkling dark electricity. There were three more figures in the distance. My dream self jumped and brought down the sword on a massive pitch-black shadow with white eyes. But when the shadow saw the blade coming down, it used its giant hand and struck my dream self … ugh (vision ends) … Okay. Whatever, so I live by myself, right? So I did the riskiest thing. I only have about no water, a few slices of nothing, so I was desperate to do this, okay? But I regret it so much, and one regret leads to another. So this is the story.
I ran swiftly on the inactive road. When I reached the bank, I went inside it, said hello,
and went to the back and went into a secret entrance that for some reason, nobody but I knew. I slipped in and by using one of the switchblades I stole from the gang, I melted a fifth of an ingot of gold and cut it off. Then when it was still hot, I used some of the ice dust I captured and when I put it on the gold, it cooled down instantly. I walked out of the secret room and walked to the manager. I plopped down the nugget of gold on the desk. The manager looked up from his computer, and his eyes widened, his forehead starting to sweat. Then he stammered. W-w-w-where—how d-did y-y-you g-get t-that?
Then I said, No questions. Do you want to trade?
A few minutes later, I gave the piece of gold, and he gave me a hundred and sixty dollars in cash. When I walked down the street, I saw five policemen all staring at me. Then the man in the middle talked to me in a rasping voice. I have been waiting for you for more than an eon, Blaze, son of flames.
All I could think was, Wow, that’s a pretty long time. But I doubt that they want to be nice to me. I blasted them with lightning, which was appropriate, because there were thunderclouds in the sky. I ran back to my shelter and did a bunch of sharp turns in the city and lost them.
A few weeks later, I wished I had fought those policemen instead of running, because I paid the price for it today. I was doing my own thing, walking around my shelter. While I was inside, the five policemen arrived at my makeshift shelter, cornering me.
Huh, you people never learn,
I said.
The leader with the rasping voice said, Come, you are our prisoner, you are too dangerous. We shall do this the easy way or the hard way.
The man on the very right laughed stupidly like, Hah, hah, hah,
and cracked his huge knuckles and pounded his fists together and did an assortment of other things, which aren’t very pleasant, that involved his clenched hands.
Then I
