The stories in this book are about ordinary everyday human beings as we are each challenged and often socially seduced biologically, psycho-socially, spiritually, and economically as biopsychosocial and spiritual beings. These are also riveting true stories of the biopsychosocial and spiritual being who demonstrates the courage to stand strong during challenges of social seduction not just for oneself, but also for others. Many of us muster up the courage to do the things that are right according to our spiritual faith which for me includes my Christian ethics meaning even when we do not necessarily feel like doing them. We find the courage to not do the things were being hedonistically enticed or seduced into doing when we know its not morally right, or against our practicing spiritual ethics which clearly tells us not to do them. While many biopsychosocial and spiritual beings pray, some chant, others meditate, study/tarry, etc. Often this is based upon our individually unique beliefs and practices we are allowed here in America. My Christian Ethics however are rooted in the Science of Biblical Hermeneutics which truly empowers me with full armor and the sword of the spirit that sustains and keeps me steady allowing me to maintain my inner peace in the midst of storms including the ones shared in this book.

I have changed some of the names including friends, professional associates, educators, and of course patients in order to tell these riveting stories while also providing confidentiality. As an allied healthcare basic medical science didactic and surgical clinical educator, Christian Evangelist, and neo human developmentalist, these true life stories are also presented from a biopsycho-sociocultural, technological, and Faith-based spiritual perspective. They serve in this book as excellent academic curriculum companions with rationales especially for the various sciences. These are riveting stories especially those of social atrocities revealing the obvious thought lives of some dark-hearted biopsychosocial and spiritual beings throughout our united states and world at large still today; but also joys of our families, social communities, professional work & education environments. This book also includes riveting true stories of the biopsychosocial and spiritual being who demonstrates the courage to stand strong during challenges of social seduction not just for oneself, but also for others. Many of us muster up the courage to do the right things according to our spiritual faith which for me includes my Christian ethics requiring such even when I do not feel like doing them. My Christian Ethics leads me to muster up the courage to not do the things I’m being hedonistically enticed or seduced to do when I know it’s not ethically right, or against my practicing spiritual Faith which clearly tells me not to do them. While many biopsychosocial and spiritual beings pray, some chant and others meditate or study/tarry, etc. Of course this is based upon one’s individually unique beliefs and/or practices one is allowed here in America. My Christian Ethics however are rooted in the Science of Biblical Hermeneutics which continuously empowers me via Father God’s full Armor – my Sword of the Spirit. His Word sustains me and keeps me steady allowing me to maintain my inner peace even in the midst of big storms including the ones I’m sharing in this book. Praise Him!

As an Allied Healthcare Basic Medical Sciences Didactic and Clinical Educator, curriculum developer, Christian Evangelist, and Neo Human-Developmentalist, I’m sharing these real-life experiences as lessons perhaps primarily for various professionals working in the medical/allied healthcare fields, social services, cultural psychology, human development, spiritual development, technological literacies, present and future students of these various sciences; however also for Americans at large.

There are personal and family stories linking micro and macro level sociological dynamics indicative of the power of our enduring family foundational legacy of love, our joys, and life-changing challenges with nevertheless continued allegiance to our unique American communities’ at large representation of arguably being the greatest nation in the world. The stories of my early years involve empowering community organization and boycotts for necessary social change. These riveting stories are also of academic relevance as they pertain to stories of: social stratifications, poverty traps, human capital, health-illness continuum scope of life, operative procedures, medical and nursing interventions, taking sides with position statements for example on reproductive verse therapeutic cloning; effects of drugs including prescription pain pill drug epidemic on the biopsychosocial and spiritual being; stories of physiological pain from traumatic injury and optimal daily functioning in spite of having to manage residual physical limitations with intermittent exacerbations. There’s a story of a most delightful patient during her musical trip back in time with Alzheimer’s; chronicles of the internal (muted) world of autism. There’s my beautiful and truly precious niece’ story of being a truly blessed recipient of double organ transplantation. There are numerous stories on various technologies that may be facilitating and liberating, neutral, or even a threat to the overall integrity of the biopsychosocial and spiritual being. There are stories of immense joy. And stories of social atrocities. There’s also a bit of ragtime red gossip. However it’s primarily indicative of how the break-up (divorce) pain of a single couple can painfully affect an entire group of closely-knitted friends going forward.

The Legacy of James A. Mays, M.D.

In this Social Seduction Series I Section Three – titled Legacy, James Arthur Mays, M.D. is featured for his real-life modern-day South-Central L.A. 1960s like character of Marcus Welby, M.D. Dr. James A. Mays’ story is one that surely needs to be told and needs to also be included as a part of American History. Dr. Mays surely wants his story to be told. And I am honored to have this opportunity to chronicle this story of my long-time friend, a brilliant man and medical doctor primarily in photos and documents.

Dr. May’s story I believe, should be taught to middle school and high school level American children with field trips to L.A.’ inner city Promenade of Prominence (POP) Walk of Fame designed for their encouragement. Dr. Mays has demonstrated patriotism with much love for this country having served as an Army Captain during the brutal Vietnam War as many of my own brothers have (also included in Section One). And he, Dr. Mays continues his acts of courage on the front lines for the community he has loved, served, and aided in so many ways.

Yes. Dr. Mays has stood strong on the front lines for both major and minor causes on behalf the poor, disadvantaged, and working-middle class American families over and over again at a minutes notice. He’s demonstrated the necessary courage to personally interact with the gang members of South Central Los Angeles to a point where one of his clinics was nick-named Little Baghdad. His efforts while publicly advocating on the local and national stages for much-needed legislation, political policy change, etc., were often born out of civil injustices and/or on the behalf of the many American unsung heroes.

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of documented histories of Dr. Mays contributions including him as executive producer of films, news-programs, news magazines, recorded musical poetry and written poems, video-taped community events, press-releases on C.D.’s, etc. He has written hundreds of medical and political papers in addition to authoring numerous books documenting historical events especially for inner-city families and children, for colleges and universities, etc. He has created a duo of inspiring superhero characters emphasizing the father son bond for minority children namely, African American and Hispanic American children. His Black Super Hero duo Radian and Radiance were created primarily as representative of an enduring loving bond with his own sons being a single father to them.

As the founder and co-founder of multiple community organizations, award ceremonies recognizing local talents, and annual televised Christmas variety shows, Dr. Mays has showcased multiple unknown talents, engaged in many acts of philanthropy providing especially the people of the South Central Community with gas cards, food baskets, clothes, parents against children filling up our cemeteries, Christmas in July, etc. The Promenade of Prominence Walk of Fame was created so the underprivileged children of the Los Angeles inner city and adults too may identify themselves with the everyday real and courageous hero’s such as Sweet Alice, Kenneth Hahn Sr., Johnny Cochran, and Black female neurosurgeon Deborah Hyde, strong leaders like Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Senator Diane Feinstein, Pastor Dr. Frederick K.C. Price etc., and not just the Hollywood movie stars, rap artists, and professional athletes etc.

If you ask this truly gifted man, James A. Mays, M.D. about the greatest loves of his life, he will tell you, his children, his mother, and the people and patients he treat and care for in the South Central areas of Los Angeles California where he continues in his medical practice still today.

Let me include here: say what you want about Dr. James Mays’ personal life, but please know that he has practiced his profession of medicine serving his community for over forty years consistently. Dr. Mays is truly the epitome of the widely scientifically researched Activity Theory unlike any practicing physician today, or previous physician including the 1960’s made for T.V. portrayed Marcus Welby, M.D. The dedication of Dr. Mays continues in spite of suffering two CVA (Cerebral Vascular Accidents, AKA Strokes) in recent years. Nevertheless, he has continued to avoid disengagement. Dr. Mays’ remains fully engaged per the Activity Theory practicing in his profession and advocating on the behalf of the underprivileged people of South-Central of L.A. and people everywhere.

Section Four includes TETILA’ Heart-Smart Forum professional allied healthcare basic medical and human developmental sciences education and community outreach. There is the introduction of the newest superheroes to help break the chains of infection in our schools, businesses, and communities at large; and T’s Meet God in the Kitchen of Healthy Life. This book serves as an excellent curriculum companion for the various sciences and offers multiple opportunities for CEUs (Continuing Education Units). The information needed to book Ms. Cox for professional educational seminars and community outreach speaking event is included in Section Four.

Many of the others portrayed in these true stories have been closely-knitted beloved friends in our (James A. Mays and Sharon T. Cox) social circle at one time or another over the past twenty-six years or so. Again, I have changed some of their names for the purpose of confidentiality. Was His Family Spiritually Constipated? His Flesh Is Now Under Attack.

And…Abusive Hearts of Darkness Surely Exist

I’ve learned that although dark hearted weapons truly do NOT prosper in the end, they surely form. I found myself surrounded by lone dark-hearted leaders having No External Checks, to their actions. A s I enter the room, all of my senses rush in. I smell the rotting flesh. I hear the silent intensity. I see the oozing blood. And I can even palpate the energy taking place right inside of this operating room. I’ve entered the midst of a vital struggle for life. But the most gifted and skilled are here, in motion, and with battle gear fully intact on behalf of sustaining this critically ill man’s life right here on earth. Each member of the team has thoroughly donned the surgical armor necessary to execute their uniquely divine roles throughout this escalating battle with a focus of defeating that old man death yet one more time, Praise God.

Nevertheless, everyone here is completely aware of the critical nature of just how quickly things can change for the worst. And each of us are completely aware that the outcome here lies’ within the omnipotent Hands of He, who has created us all in His very own image. This patient’s life is in the Hands of He, who supplies us all with our every daily breath 365 days per year, and He, who has the ultimate power over ALL life and death.

The critical nature in here is so clear. The mere fact that there’s no music playing as usual with this highly functional musical team is unusual. More so unusual, there’s not a single word being spoken between these closely-knitted surgical team members. Everyone here instead appears to be in some kind of pleading, meditative prayer – praying deeply to Father God, or per se someone or something for a miracle stat intervention while remaining keenly focused and in motion for some sure cure to turn things around for this critically ill patient. And I pray that the turnaround is soon, given the looks of things right now.

The procedure being performed on this critically ill man is a debridement. The debridement of large areas of necrotic tissue from his septic body from waist down including his left buttock his left lateral hip and left thigh areas; and anteriorly from his left groin area.

This procedure was not on today’s schedule of elective surgical procedures. It’s clearly an emergency procedure to prevent any further claims by this vicious bacterial infection than that which it has already claimed upon his septic body. And while I realize how crucial it is to minimize the exposure time to the trauma of surgery including all the various respiratory suppressing anesthetic agents, the surgeon and his new fellow assistant appears to be debriding the necrotic tissue just a bit too expeditiously even for my student based upon the shock from her eyes. My student is displaying this look of concern about how expeditiously the new fellow surgeon is debriding the patient’s septic and necrotic body tissues. It appears particularly as if our newest fellow surgeon is literally carving pieces from a leg of lamb.

And what’s further frightening about it all is that the patient is barely hemodynamically stable. Looking at the data here on the patient’s chart confirmed by this horrific smell, the patient has a vicious case of necrotizing fasciitis AKA the flesh-eating bacterial infection via the streptococcus pyogenes genus. Streptococcus P. is among the worst of all bacterial infections. It has thus far wreaked much havoc on this poor man’s flesh rendering it most septic.

Necrotizing fasciitis:

One of its deadliest pathogenic (disease causing) microorganisms is Streptococcus Pyogenes bacteria AKA beta hemolytic Group A. Streptococcus bacteria under a microscope look delightfully like strings of mothers’ pretty pearls.

According to emergency room documentation here in the patient’s chart, the team in this O.R. suite #5 received him from the E.R. where his family had only first brought him in to this hospital in the middle of last night. The charting includes excerpts of his family’s statements and quotes basically communicating that their father had acquired this vicious infection several weeks ago. And that it somehow quickly spread all over the mid and lower parts of his body over the last two days or so.

Additionally, charting here indicates that upon admitting this patient to the E.R., the family had expressed feelings of guilt for not bringing their father in before the infection got this bad. Bringing him in sooner for treatment could have surely minimized the severity of his blood infection AKA septicemia and his subsequent levels of necrotic flesh. I mean no disrespect here whatsoever when I tell you that necrotizing fasciitis is a type of foul septic smell that should signal to any and every one that some really bad infection is going on even if the visual signs of infection are hidden from you. It’s the type of smell that’ll surely linger in your olfactory tracts requiring many days to clear itself out of your sensory olfactory bulbs and especially your olfactory cortex.

The family is right about the fact that they should have brought their elderly father in for a much-needed medical intervention days or even weeks ago. The smell of his rotting flesh alone should have prompted them to have him see a physician to at least be examined for signs and symptoms of infection.

Now we must all continue to pray as the surgical team expeditiously debrides this man’s blood-oozing everywhere septic flesh. It’s painful for us all to see just how much of this patient’s flesh has been claimed by the virulent bacterial infection. Areas include the patient’s epidermal, dermal skin layers, his subcutaneous fatty tissues, and even much of his muscle tissue.

The patient however, is blessed in that the team here is led by none-other than the renowned chief operating surgeon Johnathan Holloway, M.D. and his number one side-kick, the highly skilled anesthesiologist Richard Barry, M.D. This surgeon/anesthesiologist dynamic-duo has a most excellent track-record of operative success on some of the hospital’s most challenging emergency cases. This is one reason that each member on this operative team including the addition of myself has such great expectations of things somehow working out so that everything will overall be okay for the patient. Operating surgeon Dr. Johnathan Holloway and anesthesiologist Dr. Richard Barry are each far too arrogant with superb precision in their individually unique surgical roles to in any way whatsoever give in or slack off in their most difficult emergency cases for even a millisecond. One might even say that these two doctors are also so anal and methodic that only their subsequent customary success at a 99.9% rating is acceptable to them.
