    About the Author

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my beloved - and very real - "Sparky-

Rat" Brethren at Jessie-James Comics, located at 43rd Avenue and

Peoria in Glendale Arizona. Come and play with us one and all!

    Foreword

The first time I met Michael Morgan, he was such a polite and well-behaved four-year old. He was also bright, inquisitive and I could see he was destined for something special. My advice to him at that time was to enjoy the simple pleasures in life as he grew up.

He not only took my advice, he surpassed it. By tapping into the power of his imagination, he brings fun and simple pleasure to all those who discover these wonderfully imaginative characters in his Cat-Boy series.

I am honored and delighted that the character of General Joe is based on me. I wish young Michael Morgan the very best in his writing career and success in all of his endeavors.

    Chapter 1

    Mafia Mayhem

Chaos rages at the Mafia Knight Mansion – again. Derek Streeter, notorious hit man for the feared Mafia Knights, has taken his boss hostage in yet another attempt to steal his wealth and power. Curtis Cortes sits at a tight table that is way too small for his weight. Do not allow his bald and fat appearance to fool you. He is not a villain to be taken lightly (in any sense of the word!) With Streeter’s gun to his head, he hurries to sign all the paperwork scattered before him, leaving everything to Derek Streeter in his WILL.

Shaking the weapon vigorously, Streeter yells at him, Sign faster! (Somehow Curtis never realizes he can’t kill him until after the paperwork is done.)

Okay! Curtis whimpers, breaking into a sweat.

The Mafia Knights, of course, have sided with Derek Streeter. Armed and wearing their shiny armor, they cheer on their new, far more profitable leader-to-be.

You the man, Derek, Zech hollers, lost in the crowded mob.

Yeah, Sabby applauds, Show the Boss who’s boss!

    *     *     *

Outside, the cops have the mansion surrounded. The entire force must be here! It’s not the first time it took all units to bring down the Mafia Knights, especially with Derek Streeter in command!

Suddenly, they hear an unexpected DING! DING! Huh? Officer Frank turns toward the sound of an approaching bicycle bell.

I’ll kill him! Council-King Cat-Boy declares. The renowned thirteen-year old superhero wears a black cat costume, complete with pointed ears, whiskers, and a tail with a life of its own. Today, he is also wearing a black and blue cap labeled Sparky-Rat across the front.

Frank tries not to snicker at his hysterical entrance. Cat-Boy is riding down the street on what must be another commandeered vehicle - a sparkly, pink bicycle covered with smiley-faced daisies. Using his super speed, the bike must be doing at least ninety! The rubber on the bike’s tires has burned away, and Cat-Boy is riding on the melting rims! The dust cloud he stirs up is consumed by the black smoke shooting from the flames. Somehow, Frank manages to keep a straight face, but he’s the only one. The other cops roar with laughter.

"How dare he interrupt Sparky-Rat! Cat-Boy booms, leaping off the still-moving bike. The bike keeps going and crashes into a nearby fire truck on standby. The fire truck falls sideways onto the bike, and catches fire itself. Many firefighters flee from the burning truck, arms flailing and screaming girlishly, Fire! Somebody do something! FIRE!"

Officer Frank grabs him by the scruff, saying, Cat-Boy! Calm down!

Cat-Boy thrashes to break loose, ranting, "Don’t tell me to calm down! I had to leave the Sparky-Rat Brethren for this nonsense!"

"What’s with the fru-fru bike?" Frank asks.

Chief Bernard P. Andrews overhears Officer Frank and says sarcastically, "Maybe real men really do wear pink! Then looking at his own macho, blue uniform, he shakes his head and says, Nah!"

Ignoring the Chief, Frank asks Cat-Boy, Where’s the Battle Ship?

    It’s being repaired! Cat-Boy bellows.

    Being repaired? Frank inquires. Why?

Rolling his eyes, Cat-Boy groans, Because it crashed!

Frank gasps, Crashed! Who crashed it?

Cat-Boy looks guilty, but doesn’t answer. Anyway, he begins, "Looks like you have everything under control, as usual. Still you insist on calling us in every time that half-shaved ape pulls these repetitive stunts!"

Frank interrupts, Where’s the rest of Team-Cat?

Dismissively waving his hand, Cat-Boy hisses, They’re coming! Shaking his head angrily, he adds, Don’t change the subject!

    Sorry, Frank says sarcastically.

Cat-Boy yells, Why can’t you just go in and deal with Derek Streeter yourselves?

We can’t do that, Frank retorts.

    Why not? Cat-Boy demands.

Frank answers, "Streeter said he will kill Cortes if we try!"

Cat-Boy’s eyes open wide. "He did?"

    Frank nods. Yes.

Cat-Boy draws his sword, yelling, CHARGE! as he kicks in the front door.

    *     *     *

Shoot him! Derek Streeter’s psychotic cackling echoes throughout the mansion. Bullets fly everywhere as the Mafia Knights open fire.

Cat-Boy couldn’t care less. "For Sparky-Rat!" he roars, charging the mob, using the unhinged door for a shield. POW! One thug goes down, hit and run style. BLAM! Plowing straight ahead, he tramples another. OUCH! Many Knights fall, not thinking to step aside, their bullets unable to penetrate the door-shield.

Unfortunately, Cat-Boy can’t see where he’s going. CRASH! He smacks hard into a wall.

Oh Bath. Cat-Boy gulps, finding himself surrounded, and backed into a corner. Countless Mafia Knight goons swarm in for the kill. Taking immediate action, he throws his hands over his eyes. The Game-Cat in his pocket sparks to life, and zaps him.

Yes! Cat-Boy cheers as electricity courses through his body, Perfect timing! WHAM! He slugs the first tin man. Electricity courses through his metal suit. THOMP! He punches another, knocking him out cold. KA-POW! Within seconds, all the enemy Mafia soldiers are knocked out. Cat-Boy smiles. Thanks Jonesy, he says, before running off. The Game-Cat sparks with frustration.

Mafia Knights soar into the air as a wall explodes into flames. Save some for me, Bro! Magma-Man laughs, making his entrance. The thirteen-year old brother of Cat-Boy wears orange and white battle armor, with slight yellow and red mixed in.

Thrashing through fiends, Cat-Boy yells back, "Nobody disrupts Sparky-Rat and gets away with it!"

Bashing two goons together, Magma-Man cheers, That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

YAAAAAH! Wiggles shrieks from the roof, shooting downward from an open skylight. Roughly around six-
