Chun has a passion to see Christ exalted beginning from his humble origins in Tudun Wada, Jos to the farthest ends of Africa and the globe. Beyond the darkness of poverty, disease, insecurity, failing economies and the dearth of leadership in Africa, he points to the light of the son of God that shines brighter than the sun. He writes in an engaging conversational manner with a firm conviction and deep desire for men, women and nations to establish their hope in God.

I have known Chun Bulus for many years and deeply appreciate his passion and heart towards a biblical transformation of society. He doesn’t claim to have all the answers but has amazing insight for a right biblical starting point to see Africa changed according to the principles of God, seeing righteousness, dignity and prosperity established for the people of the land. He has shown his love not to just be abstract but has blessed me and my family and touched the lives in Africa and beyond, with the love of our heavenly father.

This is to give credit to the author of this book, which I consider a wake up" call for the continent.

The author boldly states the need for youths to embrace God and grow with a mission to impact Africa.

Equally important is the admirable candor towards the indispensible requirement of character, dignity and wholeness as well as removal of limitation.

In this regard, I highly recommend this material for our young, aspiring African youth."

WHEN WILL THE SUN SET IN AFRICA? By Chun Bulus Chun

I saw a Coke recently with the line of advertisement, ‘There are a billion reasons to believe in Nigeria’. My mind went immediately to Chun Bulus Chun and his book, ‘When Will the Sun Set in Africa’? Chun Bulus sees beyond his home country Nigeria, his passion engulfs the whole of Africa. He believes the nations of Africa must tackle their myriad of problems and setbacks, and free themselves from the challenges that have held them captive for too long. As a Christian leader, Chun Bulus sees the strategic place of the biblical worldview in helping African nations chart their way forward and help bring about the type of change that is direly needed.

As a person privileged to travel and live in many technologically and economically advanced countries of the world, Chung Bulus, (to his credit, and as proof of his genuine quest for answers to Africa’s problems no matter the cost to himself personally), chose to return and live in Africa. He is living out the change he would like to see by example.

I have this keen prayer after reading, ‘When Will the Sun Set in Africa’: May the teeming youths of Africa be greatly influenced by Chun Bulus’ passion change through the advocacy of truth, and all that to contribute to the holistic transformation Africans across the continent are yearning for.

    CHAPTER ONE

    THE DAWN: NEW BEGINNING

In this chapter I elucidated on the Beginning, the Fall, Redemption, Restoration and Positioning as it concerns the relationship between a Creator who is quite personal in His dealings with His creation and Man. A thorough exploration was made of the perfect beginning of all things and the journey of fallen man through redemption to a point of restoration and his occupation of the position of dominion upon the earth. The readers are thus stimulated to envision a world were all mankind are through this journey, have been restored and have all the walls of lies from the Fall broken, and have occupied the position of dominion. We then see the necessity of all mankind embarking on this journey and the need for excellence in mans’ endeavor in all the spheres of influence.

    CHAPTER TWO

WHEN WILL THE SUN SET IN AFRICA

I brought out the numerous opportunities that abound in Africa and the need for the church (believers) to help position the society on a solid biblical foundation. This, being made highly necessary due to the trend of movement of world economic projections that point favorable towards Africa. For the sustainability of the prosperity of Africa, the societal strata must seek balance. In this chapter I reflected on the resources of Africa and the underlying reasons other civilizations failed in the past and how people of faith can cease this opportunity to portray and exemplify faith that actually relates to the needs of people and seeks to heal their hurts.

    CHAPTER THREE

    REDEEMING CULTURE

Though believers, yet still we are born into culture. We are cultural people, but we are not to exhibit our cultures. How will the truth of the scriptures be relevant to different cultures and persons? How will people maintain their faith within our society and live free from the ancestral and animistic mixture in values? How can the walls of lies from unredeemed cultures be brought down? So many believers are caught between living out their faith and the shackles of their traditions and cultures. This chapter not only teaches how these walls can be broken in the life of the believer, but also goes on to teach on how to bring about transformation in a society by transformation the inherent culture.

    CHAPTER FOUR

    CHUN’S STORY

In this chapter, Chun shares his story of how he overcame challenges from his humble beginnings. This story amplifies the need to constantly hold to Gods’ truth to be able to live life to fullness. This chapter will challenge the reader to believe his/her best days are still ahead. As a boy, Chun realized he was being protected and guided, even in frequent times of uncertainty. From hawking on the street of Jos to being a missionary in Europe and many areas of Nigeria, Chun never saw himself as a victim of circumstances and errors of men.

    CHAPTER FIVE

    DIGNITY

This chapter exposes what truly makes us human and persons of value. With such fundamental understanding we are able to recognize the true value of people, seeing beyond their circumstances and status.

    CHAPTER SIX

    DIVERSITY

In these contemporary times, we are challenged with high levels of differences and ever increasing lines of dissimilarities. We are thus unable to see diversity for what it truly is; a rich gift. In this chapter we expound on unity in diversity and the celebration of uniqueness. The reader will come to understand it is acceptable to be different from others whilst maintaining the unity of faith and purpose.

    CHAPTER SEVEN

    EVANGELISM STORY

This chapter not only reiterates our great commission mandate to our generation but it tells us a moving story of how to live our lives, openly showing God’s love to individuals and nations.

    CHAPTER EIGHT

LETTER TO AFRICAN LEADERS AND AFRICANS

Often, the generational challenges and misgivings of our forebears in Africa seem overwhelming, but this chapter reveals refreshing hope through the practicality of the methods by which The Book (the Holy Bible) transforms nations. The ideas in this chapter goes above the blame game to reveal the ideal picture with everyone engaged in transforming their lives to transform nations.

    CHAPTER NINE

    POEM

This poem is a prophetic voice into Africa’s challenges; envisioning liberation to different areas and setting hearts free from bondage. The five verses of poem it speaks to different specific areas of the society.

    CHAPTER TEN

    BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES

In this chapter I try to bring out the timeless truths of the scripture and how it forms and builds society in the spheres of art and entertainment, government (provision of protection for freedom), science, family (provision of protection for building character), education (designing the platform for self-discipline and knowledge acquisition to move persons from one level to the next), church (building the principles for the morals of the nation and society). We bring biblical principles by which God instructed Israel to build the nation after leaving Egypt. Foundational TRUTH for nation building.

    CHAPTER ELEVEN

    WHAT LIMITS LIMITATIONS

Every human being is designed for a particular assignment but lies manifest in various ways to dissuade or deter people. In this chapter, the lie of fear is exposed and further shows how we can go beyond it to become all God has made us to be. Through various examples cited from the bible and history, I have revealed to us men and women who through commitment- determination of heart with single focus within the parameters of God to achieve their goals. As a case study, we examine King David. The reader will learn to practice the principles in this chapter, grow a positive faith, and develop a ‘can do’ believe system.

Also discussed in this chapter, are the limits to limitations. All of mankind through faith in God and His dealings with us, can limit the hold of limitations in daily living and the pursuit of purpose.

    CHAPTER TWELVE

    EVANGELISM STORY IN EUROPE

This chapter shows how through obedience to God by witnessing (despite our feelings or reluctance), we benefit. It is also important we show through our acts (even more than our words), Christ-likeness. The reader will learn how to preach Christ not necessarily by words. How can your life speak your faith and draw men to Christ in the market place.

    CHAPTER THIRTEEN

WILL THE MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS BE ANSWER TO AFRICA’S DILEMMA?

Studies and research has thus far guided our quest in trying to meet the daunting needs of the millions of people plagued by poverty and its associated human challenges. We explore the snags and limitations of the MDGs. Beyond this, I proffer roles to be played by the citizenry in the eradication of the generational poverty that is rife in Africa.

    CHAPTER FOURTEEN

IS THERE HOPE FOR EUROPE, LETTER TO YOUNG EUROPEANS

Here I explore the foundational values that built and made the west thrive. I also responded to the general conception I sensed among many European youths I interacted with while working and studying in Europe. Whilst being politically correct isn’t top on my list, I seek to draw attention to what made the west successful post the industrial revolution, and an admirable bride of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The young generation must return to the biblical truths discovered by their forefathers that demonstrates how great societies are built and run.

    CHAPTER FIFTEEN

    REDEEMING CULTURE IN POST-MODERNISM

With the advent of the twentieth century, doors of skepticism, empiricism, and new ideas were opened up; making it challenging to hold on to eternal principles. In this chapter, I made an attempt to demonstrate the underlying deception embedded in our modern culture and how it plays out in arts, music and other expressions. Either by naivety or by intent, the enemy has influenced both the society and the church by tampering with the culture. But the church must rise. Expressing an incorruptible culture: the God Culture.

    CHAPTER SIXTEEN

    THE INDISPENSABLE REQUIREMENT: CHARACTER

For any leader or individual to occupy his/her due place in the journey to purpose, character must be built. I present character, partly, as a tool for sustainability in business, family, friendship, and otherwise. We see how a person’s character can become a means of exchange and nudges the reader to give serious consideration to attitude and character development.

    CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

    HEALTH IN AFRICA

Here, I emphasize Gods’ interest in our social and physical wellbeing. In 2012, the five leading causes of death in Africa (AIDS, viral respiratory infections, diarrhea, malaria, and stroke) claimed more than 3 million lives in sub-Saharan Africa. When placed in comparison with the number of lives claimed by the leading causes of death in Europe, we begin to recognize the core of the solutions to the health and mortality problems faced in Africa lies not in scientific discoveries, but in a change in lifestyle choices. The reader will learn how to live a totally balanced life that prospers both in spiritual and physical
