ACKNOWLEDGMENT
First and foremost, I want to thank my God YHWH whose name is ineffable, the only true God of all creation who blesses me with life, health, knowledge, and wisdom through Y’shua, the only God-begotten Son and Savior of the fallen world.
To my late grandmother Inanece Clermont, aka Grann Kami
who raised me and was one of the most important pillars in my life. She lived and died illiterate, but when I used to come home from school, she always made sure that I would pick up my books to study and get my homework done. I owe it all to her to be able to write this book.
To my incomparable mother Marie Lebrun aka Solange,
my very first love, the only woman on earth who has always loved me even when I was not yet born, who sacrificed everything for me, and who will forever love me unconditionally.
To my father Poidevien Desrosiers whom I wish I always had besides me as a friend. My whole life I always feel like a fatherless child longing for a father’s embrace and unconditional love. I miss all the years you have not been around. I wish I could turn back the hands of time to catch up with you on every second you weren’t there for me when I most needed you. Alas, the future I dreamed of in my childhood is now the past, which nobody can change. And as the old French adage puts it Le temps perdu ne se ratrappe jamais.
To my family: my lovely wife Concetta, the best thing that has ever happened to me, and our five children Vanessa Desrosiers, Sean A. Desrosiers, Brian V. Desrosiers, Christian J. Klungland, and our newborn Isabelle Desrosiers who are the object of our love.
To all my relatives in Haiti who survived the unprecedented January 12, 2010 earthquake that ravaged my homeland leaving nearly 300,000 people dead, millions of handicap and orphans.
In loving memory of the two professors and four students from Lynn University who perished in the earthquake because of their love for the poor: Dr. Richard Bruno and Dr. Patrick Hartwick, Stephanie Crispinelli, Britney Gengel, Christine Gianacaci and Courtney Hayes.
In the memory of all people like them who believe in love, compassion, and equality—Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mother Teresa.
To my second mother Maria Anna D’Alia, a woman with a great heart, my brother-in-law Peter D’Alia, and my aunt Audenzia Salvemini aka My Aunt Denny.
To all my friends who have supported and/or helped me one way or another to see to it that this book would become a reality, especially my friend Dr. Nicolas L. Pauyo, poet, author of Haiti: Re-foundation of a Nation,
Pamela Parker, Laura L. Doda, Tony Guerich, and last but not least my dear friend Michael Porrazzo, international published author and well known scientist and inventor.
Also, I would like to thank the following people for their encouragement on the long journey that leads to this book: poet and artist to
