    Who lived this story!

At this time in my life (82years) and after our country has been in several other wars; I am aware that few, if any, will have an interest in reading my story. The Korean War was known as The Forgotten War, so it doesn’t surprise me. Nevertheless, there may be a day when my son or grandchildren may ask; what did Dad-Grandpa do in the military? So it is for them that this story is written.

    INTRODUCTION

To begin, I must first give credit to the infantry for they are the ones that, on a more constant basis, faced off the enemy. There is nothing to compare with the enemy being at close range, and in some cases, close quarters. The incoming bullets are directly aimed at the Soldier/Marine on the line. And there is nothing that can compare with the guts, amazing strength, fear and yes, the actual courage that these young Americans must display to defend their position, troops in support, and the country that they represent. Whether by design or volunteering, these are the real heroes of the fighting soldier. To these Americans I take off my hat and bow my head in deep grief for those that made the supreme sacrifice

To the Infantry and Departed Brothers in Arms:

    You have my undying gratitude!

This is my answer to what I did during the Korean War.

Joseph A. Cappella (Joe), A soldier!

Who so ever finds and reads this, will to a small degree, get some understanding of what the Korean War was like during the period of time I served with the 48th Field Artillery of the 32nd. Regimental Combat Team of the 7th. Division. 12/1950 through 12/1951.

THIS IS A PARTIAL HISTORY OF THE 48TH FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION

Besides the following major combat missions, the 48th FA Battalion participated in with the 32nd. RCT, the battalion served in support to several other Divisions. It was in reserve only one time. It was
