    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The woman of God who has most inspired us through her prayer life is Evangelist Mary Ravenell, First Lady of Samaritan Baptist Church of Trenton, NJ. She is a woman of prayer and integrity, and is fervent in the things of God. The law of kindness also is written in her heart.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her (Proverbs 31:28). Our confidante and friend!

A special thanks to Elder Mae E. Wilcox, First Lady of Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries, Trenton, New Jersey. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellent them all (Prov. 31:29). An example of grace!

A special thanks to Bishop Jerome S. Wilcox and Bishop Joseph Ravenell, who are the shepherds and Bishops of our souls. Thanks to Evangelist Catherine Johnson who the Holy Spirit inspired to put the first phase of the Prayer Stations on cardboard paper. To Cynthia Lewis, our silk banner designer of phase II—both women are filled with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge and in all manner of workmanship (Exodus 35:31-33).

    TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

    PRAYER STATIONS VISION

    Vision

It is our vision that prayer revival will break forth throughout the body of Christ as a result of believers praying the Word of God. That miracles, signs, and wonders will be evident as souls are delivered and set free by the power of God as they meet the Holy Spirit at each Prayer Station.

That Prayer Station banners, book and journal will be in places of prayer and worship and in the hands of believers.

It is our desire that each believer will be blessed as they pray the will of God in their lives and the lives of others!

Salvation is our number one priority—that souls will be made whole.

    Vision Scripture

    Acts 4:29-32

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken were they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul:"

    Mission

To take a believer from no prayer life to the greatest dimension in communications and intimacy with God, through prayer.

    Mission Scripture

    Rom. 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

    THE BIRTHING OF PRAYER STATIONS

Again I say to you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them—(Matthew 18:19-20).

Prayer Stations are a gift and vision from God, who inspired Byron Ravenell and Georgia Hood to write it down and carry it to the nations. The two had never met before, but shared two things in common; they both were believers in our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ and attended prayer services at the same location, Samaritan Baptist Church in Trenton, New Jersey.

Prayer Stations are banners (of various sizes) at designated locations (churches, etc) where believers go; expecting to receive results from God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, in the lives of both themselves and others. It also serves as a location where the power of agreement is activated by faith. Prayer Stations provoke aggressive and out of the box praying.

The first phase of Prayer Stations were on cardboard paper and very dynamic and authentic, but were relative to Samaritan Baptist Church only, however, the Lord was preparing the vision for his global use. This vision could not be contained in a corner.

There were specific requests the Lord made that were to be included in the global Prayer Stations, phase two:

    1. The format for the new banners was supernaturally inspired.

    2. Banners; Praise and Worship, Binding Satan and Salvation were added, i.e.,

    • Prayer Station I, (Praise and Worship) is quite unique and has focal points that lead the believer into worship. It builds the believers faith to receive from God and know that God can do anything.

    • Prayer Station VI, (Binding Satan)—There were 12 disciples and one was a devil, so at this Prayer Station the believer takes time out to launch an aggressive attack on the enemy.

    • Prayer Station XII, (Salvation)—All the necessary scriptures are written out to lead an unbeliever to Christ without a bible, there is no need for focal points.

    3. Supporting scriptures were added to each Prayer Station.

    4. Each Prayer Station should be numbered—starting with Praise and Worship and ending with the Salvation banner—for God is a God of order.

    5. Use focal points that are soul stirring and reflective. (Focal points are issues that concerns humanity to be prayed at each Prayer Station.) Use focal points that will cause the one praying to deal with his own issues first that they may be made whole. Use focal points that will provoke the one praying and or the unbeliever to repentance.

    6. A piece of the armor in Ephesians 6:11-18 should be at the end of each Prayer Station (the believer is to put on the whole armor of God in praying the word). At Prayer Station XII the believer will go into the strong man’s house and take back the souls that belong to God. This is warfare and the believer needs to be fully dressed and armed with the Word of God.

    7. Add a Salvation Prayer Station with the scriptures written out so that an unbeliever can be lead to Christ without a Bible. This is the only Prayer Station that has no armor from Ephesians 6:11-18.

    8. Specific material and hardware was given to be used for the banners. (the original banners of phase 2 are 2X5)

    9. Last but not least—an angel was added to the stations with an emphasis to sounding the trumpet for a call to prayer.

Had God not brought Byron and Georgia together, the Prayer Stations would not be what they are today. God has charged the visionaries to relay His message of focused prayer and intercession to the nations.

The move of God is supernatural, miracles, signs and wonders are being performed as individuals by faith meet the Lord at Prayer Stations. There are testimonies of healing, deliverance, salvation, restoration and financial break through. In addition to that, Children are praying the stations and are being blessed. What a charismatic move of God!

God loves us so much that He has given us yet another guide to receiving what He has for His people.

As always, to God be the glory.

    INTRODUCTION

    What is prayer?

In order to be effective in prayer we must first understand what it is. Prayer is a request, petition or entreaty that needs to be heard and responded to. Christian prayer is not mystical but simple communications with God through our mediator Christ Jesus. It is the petition of a child to a Father. By faith we lay hold on God’s heart who knows our needs before we ask Him.

Effective Prayer—Prayer is asking, seeking and knocking, three-dimensional. The first letters in Ask, Seek and Knock spells ASK—Prayer is simply Asking (petitioning) the Father, Seeking (communion) Him, and Knocking (interceding). Prayer is talking with God. More than just asking, it is confession, adoration, thanksgiving, confidence and fellowship with God. Therefore, keep on ASKing and you will receive what you ask for from God.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened (Matt. 7:7-8).

Prayer and Faith are intimate and married to each other.

Not praying is considered a sin for it is the foundation for a successful Christian life. Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way (1 Samuel 12:23).

The model prayer Jesus taught his disciples

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen" (Matt. 6:9-13).

Prayer provides a gateway for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God’s name, God’s kingdom, God’s will, and God’s forgiveness are the primary object of this prayer. The disciples did not have to pray in Jesus’ name because the source (Jesus) was still with them.

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it (John 14:13-14).

    The Formula to Effective Prayer

God is the teacher, there are no tests to pass, there are no test scores that He gives when you pray—There is just one 2-part formula that needs to be included when you pray and it can be done in many formats according to the one who is praying:

    The Formula

1.) address your prayers to God the Father

2.) pray in the name of JESUS

In the name of the Son of God we are privileged to call God Father.

    What Jesus said and prayed:

You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! (John 14:13-14, NLT).

At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike (Matt. 11:25, NLT).

Notice that Jesus does not end his prayer in his name because he was the source.

    Prayer of Intercession

Intercession is the prayer of intervention made to God on behalf of an individual(s), nation, city, church, etc., with a particular request or need. Many times the reason to pray is only known by the Holy Spirit who is calling you to pray. When the believer intercedes he enters into his priestly anointing and provides a gateway by standing in the gap between God and man for His divine will and purpose.

Intercession in the New Testament Greek is Huper-entugehano meaning; above, instead of, exceedingly above, to confer with or deal with, to make intercession, and is accompanied with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. In the Old Testament Hebrew it is PAGA," meaning to impinge by violence, cause to entreat, to come between, meet together, pray, reach, and to run.

Many times the believer is faced with such difficulties that he cannot approach prayer skillfully. The Holy Spirit is present within the believer to assist him in those moments of moral, physical or emotional weaknesses. This is when the Holy Spirit helps with our infirmities and makes intercession for us according to the will of God (Rom. 8:26).

Intercession breaks yokes, demolishes strongholds and sets the captive free by the supernatural power of the Almighty God. Intercession carries a burden and a need to pray through, with intensity. When you have prayed through, the burden will be released in your spirit and you will know that you have completed God’s will in prayer.

The Old Testament sacrifices and prayers by the priest were acts of intercession that pointed to the work of Christ the greatest intercessor. Christ intercedes for Peter that his faith would not fail. He prayed not only for his disciples but also for all that would believe in him through their message. The greatest intercession of all was the prayer of forgiveness for those who crucified Him (Luke 23:34).

The biblical view of intercession describes Christ’s intervention on behalf of believer’s weaknesses and temptations. Christ’s work of intercession continues in heaven on behalf of the church. The entire body of Christ has been called to intercede. The Holy Spirit intercedes through the believer with classified information, for He prays according to the will of God.

. . . . because he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors (Isa. 53:12).

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Rom. 8:26).

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them (Heb. 7:25).

    Prayer of Travail

Travail in the Greek New Testament is Tikto meaning to give birth, bring forth or be born, as said of the child Jesus. In the Old Testament Hebrew it is Amal meaning, heavy labor, toil, gain by labor, to produce of labor, sorrow, suffering and has a negative connotation. It contains the nuance of drudgery, rather than noble work. In other words, it has the negative aspect of labor, the unsatisfied feeling of being on a treadmill (Key Word Study Bible, pp. 1646).

Travailing prayer is praying to bring forth-spiritual birth, God’s will and is accompanied with strong crying, groanings, wrestling, sorrow, and physical agony. To the one praying, travailing prayer is dominant in the loins as in natural birth and causes you to respond likewise. This experience is not long and drawn out, it comes upon you like a physical outburst and is a result of you praying or interceding with intensity and simply being faithful to the call.

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied; by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities (Isa. 53:11).

Paul also says it profoundly, My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you (Galatians 4:19).

Jesus travailed in the garden of Gathsemane, "and being in agony he prayed more earnestly and his sweat was as drops of blood failing down to the ground" (Luke 22:44). He was getting ready to go to the cross (the cup) and into the regions of hell as part of the process for procuring our redemption and prayer was one of the prerequisites for securing the assignment.

The "agony" in the Greek is Agonia, meaning; a contest, giving prominence to the pain and labor of the conflict. It is used to refer to the trembling excitement and anxiety produced by fear or tension before a wrestling match or a fight. It occurs in Luke 22:44 (cf. Matt. 26:37-38, John 12:27), denoting not the fear which makes one shrink and flee, but the fear which trembles in the face of the issue, yet allows one to remain and face it. (Key Word Study Bible, pp. 1682).

    Prayer of Supplication

Supplication in the Greek is Deesis and is a prayer for particular benefits (Luke 1:13, 1Tim. 2:1). In Luke 1:5-14, Zacharias was praying for his barren wife Elisabeth to have a child for both of them were well stricken in age. God grants his request and gives them a son in their old age. This was a prayer of supplication for the benefit to have a child, sometimes a vow is associated with this prayer, the Greek word is Proseuche. The vow made here was that the child shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; (Luke 1:15).

    Prayer and Fasting

To fast means to intentionally abstain from food for a specified amount of time and a particular purpose. Fasting is key to encountering results in the life of the believer. Fasting also allows the believer’s spirit to be sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit and positions him to receive results from God in the lives of others. The combination of prayer and fasting are needed for certain kinds of deliverance. "Howbeit, this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting" (Matt. 17:21).

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6).

    A Prayer for you

My Father, I pray that you will forgive me of my sin and transgressions. I pray that your glorious, unlimited resources will empower me through the Holy Spirit, which gives me inner strength. That Christ will make his home in my heart as I put my trust in him. That my roots will grow down into your unlimited love and keep me strong. That I will experience Christ’s love fully, that I will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from you.

Keep me from pride and presumptuous sin,
