To Serve and Protect: A Lunatic in the Making
()
About this ebook
This book is going to expose the intimate details of a quota system mandated by a police administration.
In this book, the reader will be shocked, appalled, amused, heartbroken, excited, and vindicated because it is extremely candid.
People speak in the clich sense of being a rebel within the scope of their occupation; this book exemplifies how one authentic rebel did just that.
This book will leave the reader as the jury to determine whether the author of his autobiography is a hero or a villain encapsulated within the garment of a blue police suit.
He is the author of several philosophy books:
The Path and Pinnacle of Consciousness
The Reinforcement of Consciousness
The Consciousness of the Spirit

I was born in Birmingham, AL, but I have travelled the world. My life experiences have given me the opportunity to observe and decipher why people do what they do. I am not a doctor studying human behavior in a lab. I am someone who makes an effort to make sense out of what seems senseless and predict what seems unpredictable behavior of mankind. If you like to ask why, my perspective may offer something to consider or cause debate. Regardless, I invite those that choose to explore the answers to why.

I thank God for gracing a fool.
I thank my wife for the honest and earnest words
that she presented in one of the chapters, which she composed.
I dedicate this book to those who would revolt for necessity, not for a whim.
Prologue
But I’m just a soul whose intentions are good, Oh Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood,
lyrics from a song by a group called The Animals. I felt that it would be apropos to begin this book with these words because I feel like I am one of those souls. After you finish this book, you will be able to decide. I am writing this book as therapy for myself and to divulge why the job as a police officer makes you feel insane as the tenure to reach retirement appears to be protracted. The events that I will mention in this book will not be your typical police stories, telling of cops working on their beat or tales of their street dealings. Instead, I want to highlight my experiences with an inept administrative hierarchy and myself being just a lowly, dumb cop with only a high school diploma. This is at least what they thought or presumed. I will reveal some actual documentation to corroborate my claims and render further elucidation, in the event that there is any obscurity in what I have presented. I am not presenting this work to elicit favor for the police department, nor am I trying to impugn its overall objective. I just would like people to understand the life of those who have to strap on a bulletproof vest and gun to safeguard a populace while contending with a zealous administration, which is set on waging fear on its personnel in order to overcompensate for their inadequacies. I never thought that it was practical to be employed within a job where your life could be taken at any moment yet have fear of your leaders to an extent of being almost paralyzed to think, act, speak, or question their competence because if you were to be fired by this organization that would have you pay such a hefty cost, then in the long run, they may have saved your life.
This mind-set greatly assisted me in toppling their grand identity, which they associated with their vacuous titles. And thus, they avoided any type of interactions with me whenever possible for seeing the depths of my relentless yet incorrigible attitude to demystify their leadership. Before I tell you my story and experiences, I would like to present to you my résumé at the time of publishing this book; it details voluntary education and endeavors in and out of the bounds of my employment with the department. I did this to equip myself to be a premier authority within the scope of my job and to understand the creature of man.
