    Chapter 1

    Roscoe Falls

    The year was 2007 in a small town outside of Lexington, Kentucky. The crowd had gathered to watch the local equestrian sporting event. Some of the city’s most rich and powerful people had gathered to watch. There were BBQs being conducted, flea markets, and other local events. One of the local favorite horses to win the event was a Tennessee Walker stallion named Roscoe. Roscoe was a young horse of two years, but he was a well-developed horse. His muscles are toned and sleek, and his mane is long and silky. His stride is one of courage and confidence.

    The event had been a close race for Roscoe. One of the more experienced older stallions had just completed a record jump, and it had cost Roscoe to fall behind in points. His only hope was to jump every fence in the event with no penalties and raise the bar of the last hurdle to the highest point possible. Roscoe’s owner and trainer were confident that he could do it, but he had never tried to jump such a height.

    One of the judges came over to Roscoe’s stable where the owner, trainer, and rider were talking the attempt over and asked them what they wanted to do. The men came to an agreement. Raise the bar, the owner said, and Roscoe stomped his hoof in agreement.
