About this ebook
Many pieces include a Norwegian accent and an assortment of writing styles. Recalling the past proves nostalgia is worth saving, worth the surprise.
Bettie Linke
Author Bettie Linke continues to write from her central New Jersey home. Her wide scope and experienced freelance style has been published in various newspapers and magazines as a contributing writer for over twenty-five years. Her writing began after a family trip to Lillehammer, Norway, telling all in a travel article that this personal story was about walking the streets at this famous sight before it was established as the home of the 1994 Winter Olympics. Most of her writings are nonfiction with a slant for humor. Poetry and prose have entered into recent calendar articles after publishing with Xlibris in September 2010. Being an active writer in various writing seminars, workshops, and writers’ groups over many years has broadened essential networking and has sharpened her writing skills. Her first self-published book, That’s the Spirit, continues to inspire her readership from the youngest of age eight to the retired senior of age ninety-two. Attending a Rutgers University Osher-Lifelong Learning Institute program called Writing from Life Experience for Family, Friends and Fun stimulated great interest in compiling an anthology of her writings and short stories. That being successful after book signings, presentations, and readings, That’s the Spirit has become a coffee-table book and is available in hard or soft copies as well as in e-book format. There was no need to have second thoughts on this newest publication, Tales of Benny the Beagle. Written as a children’s book or for a lover of an all-American brown, black, and white beagle, its short chapters show action, comfort, and love. In this instance, the book is Ben’s voice telling the stories. Filled with life situations, the beagle just happens to be a family pet, with the author taking the role as Benny’s grandmother. Fun for all age groups and any season, Tales of Benny the Beagle is just waiting to be loved in return. Photos of Benjamin help aid the writings by showing his strengths, accomplishments, and now as one of the family since coming from a rescue shelter. He is not just any beagle; he is a welcomed friend. Bettie Linke (a.k.a. Marie Linke) may be reached at marielinke@aol.com for comments and/or queries.
