Louisket Edmond

Mr. Louisket Edmond is a native of Haiti who was educated in his homeland and ran for representative to the Haitian Congress with the Tet Ansanm Political Party in Haiti. He campaigned against child abuse in school, against violence, against poverty in the island for freedom of speech, rights for Haitian expatriots to vote abroad and serve their country even if they had dual nationality, and child abuse in school. After losing the election that was fraudulent, Mr. Edmond came to the United States with tears in his eyes to pursue new dreams. He received his BA in Spanish and French literature from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and earned a teaching assistantship at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine where he completed a Master’s degree in teaching French. Mr. Edmond taught languages in different schools in the United States for many years: Community College of Philadelphia, Duckrey Elementary Public School, Camden High School, North Miami Senior High School, and currently in Connecticut at Northwestern Regional 7. He lives within four distinct cultures: those of the Creole, French, North American English, and Latin American. Shortly after the earthquake on January 12, 2010 which killed more than 270,000 people in Haiti and left more than 300,000 homeless, Mr. Edmond was worried about his relatives and fellow Haitians. He kept seeing the images of dead bodies in his head and was unable to sleep. Mr. Edmond began writing a book “The Tears of Haiti” in order to give his readers outside of Haiti some ideas about the life of the Haitian people in the island of Hispaniola and to keep his mind busy in this difficult time.
