Mikey and Sandy had always thought they were just an ordinary boy and girl, much like any other boy or girl. They lived with their parents in an ordinary house, on an ordinary street in an ordinary suburb. They were brother and sister- twins, in fact- but no twins could ever have been more unalike than these two.

They looked very different indeed. Sandy had silky, blonde hair, light blue eyes, fair skin and the cutest, tiny freckles on her nose and cheeks. Mikey, on the other hand, had jet black hair, dark brown eyes, deep-tanned olive skin and not a freckle in sight. He loved to play join the dots with Sandy’s freckles while she was asleep, much to her disgust, of course! They also had very different interests and hobbies and totally opposite personalities.

Like all brothers and sisters, as you would well know, they didn’t always get along. They often had their ups and downs but despite all these quarrels and differences the twins still loved each other very much.

Today was going to be their eighth birthday and what they thought was going to be an ordinary birthday, much like any other, turned out to be NOT so ordinary after all!

It was, in fact, a most EXTRA-ordinary birthday, a truly amazing and special birthday filled with magical, wonderful surprises that Mikey and Sandy could never have expected!
