About this ebook
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if the beholder is Pygmalion Kastellanos, then beauty is fiery pink dolphins soaring the blue sky. Utterly unrealistic. However, the sculptor does desire to love and beloved, something that Maya Xeneakis—his old and compassionate housemaid knew for a long time. Now that Pygmalion threw all on the line, Maya was determined to stay by her delusional master. Even if he might destroy himself to fulfill his dream of love.

Chapter I
As Eos¹ painted the sky with a pinkish glow….
An alarm clock rang, hammering nails into the skull of a sleeping man of bronze skin, waking him up. He shifts his body beneath the silk of his blanket and turns to the side, the empty side. Brushing off the smooth surface with his lean arm, he sat up on his king-size bed. Leaning back on his bedpost, the man’s gaze to his closed bedroom window. He sighed and loosened up his neck, then his shoulder, followed by a stretching exercise of his arms.
‘Knock! Knock!’
Get in!
the men’s hoarse voice echoed from inside.
A woman with greyish black hair tied to a bun came in and stood near the bed. A lilac gown covered by a white apron framed her pudgy stature. "Kalimera² master Pygmalion, your bath and breakfast are ready." the middle-aged said with her face down, as if she was hiding something.
Pygmalion noticed her demeanour Fine, leave,
the master said. The women bowed and walked out of the master’s bedroom in a hurry. Why are you running?
he stopped her.
The housemaid fisted her shaky hands and told the truth, Forgive me but your breakfast isn’t ready, I must go or it might get burned.
she squeezed her apron.
A loud groan filled the room. Pygmalion stood up from his bed, his half-erect cock in the air. Get to it then!
his sharp spear voice attacked the old maid’s ears.
Y-yes, master.
she stuttered and left his room.
And Maya!
the master’s voice echoed and snared her on the spot. He walked behind her Please make something for my hangover!
said the man while massaging his temples.
Already did.
Maya bowed ninety degrees and left completely.
Pygmalion exhaled, grabbing his phone as he strolled to open his bedroom’s window. The men pulled back his wavy brunet locks, his husky and bare torso shimmers beneath Helios’s gentle glow. However, looking at two birds cuddling on a tree branch made his face scrunched up. He clicked his tongue and left his room. Pygmalion scrolled through notifications on his cellphone as he walked through the hall with many statues of his own expertise. Once in front of the bathroom, he putted away his phone and performed his morning routine.
Down in the kitchen, after much efforts Maya set the table with her fineness and made a supper for her, but an echoing doorbell from the gate halted her footsteps. She rushed to the front door to meet their morning guest. May I help you?
Maya smiled at the blond young boy in front of her.
A wedding invitation for Pygmalion the sculptor.
The boy handed her an over-perfumed purple envelope with ribbons.
Wait, young man!
Maya grasped the boy’s shoulder from running away. Maya sprinted back into the kitchen and returned with a loaf of bread. Here! Take it, sweetheart.
Maya gave the bread and pinched his cheek. Maya laughed when the boy swatted her hand from his cheek. He left while munching the bread like it was an ambrosia.
Back inside the manor, the master of the house already filling his mouth with Maya’s delicacies. Maya smiled and approached her idiosyncratic master. An invitation.
she handed the envelope with both hands while bowing. Despite the pleasing scent it emanated, Pygmalion leered at it without a pause of chewing.
Read it for me!
said the master of the manor, and the housemaid nodded.
She opened the envelope and scanned the paper with her black orbs. "Thanked Aphrodite³! Alessandro and Zoe will be wedded! Maya said with glee, whereas Pygmalion’s face scrunched up.
The ceremony will commence this Friday." she brought the letter closer to his handsome face.
Sucking each of his fingers, Pygmalion stood up and left the dining room Clean this up!
he ordered. Maya eyed her master and exhaled. She folded back the invitation into the envelope and placed it on a table before she cleaned up the dining room.
The sculptor dragged his steps into his art galley and banged on the doors like a madman. He stared and approached a statue. You have abandoned me….
Pygmalion caressed the face of a young man’s statue made from ivory. He pulled his dark brunet strands back as he picked up a chisel and reached for an almost finished statue. His sharp hazel eyes focused and his hands performed their magic on the chisel to create human-like statue.
I need a someone.
he muttered to no one.
‘But all girls, all flawed,’ He continued on his work and huffed a puff. Pygmalion turned to some of his artwork of ivory, marbles and terracotta, a smile formed on his handsome face Someone as beautiful as my arts.
he said and worked his art in silence.
But of course he’s never really alone.
Maya eavesdropped behind the doors.

"Kalispera⁴ Maya~" The dark men peddling his goods at the port greeted Maya with joy.
"Kalispera Basil," Maya smiled at her favourite fish monger and friend.
Come see! There are plenty of fish in the sea and on my stand.
Basil offered, showing his set of white teeth. Maya’s eyes and hands searched through the piles of fishes she wanted.
Any catches of the week?
she asked, while weighing a salmon in her hands.
‘Take care of him.’ Iria said to Maya a long time ago.
Out of all the maids in her house, Pygmalion’s mother chose her to care for Pygmalion, and Maya never intended to fail or providing sub-par services. If anything, she’s devoted to Pygmalion, since he was a baby.
"Perhaps not yet. Poseidon hasn’t blessed me or my sailors yet, Efcharisto⁵!" Basil said as he served another customer. Maya hummed in response, still hunting for the best fish.
This necklace will go great with the dress you bought!
Careful you might anger Aphrodite by being more beautiful than her,
the other joked, and they both laughed.
Maya turned to see two chicks, one wavy blonde and one curly goatee. The ladies had lots of bags adorning their slim arms. Maya smiled at the youths in her eyes before handing Basil her champion of the day. Do you think Pygmalion might notice me?
the goatee asked, Maya’s hearing sharpened a thousand folds at the mention of her master’s name.
"Ughh- why ask about him?" the blonde threw a sour look.
I have a thing for artisan and I might have a chance with him.
the goatee winked and giggled. Maya wanted to giggle too, but held it in.
The blonde laughed. Don’t waste your time on him! Sure he’s hot, but nobody can ever win him,
she remarked. Now not only Maya eavesdropped, but Basil too. He’s taste in women is beyond believe, he hardly leaves his home and he’ll probably die a lonely virgin, anyway.
The blonde added, and they laughed before returning to their shopping spree.
The fish monger proceeding to wrap the fishes in papers, How’s the young master doing?
Basil asked. Despite never met Pygmalion in person, he knew him well. Maya’s stories about him were endless and of detailed descriptions.
Healthy, wealthy, lonely.
Maya exhaled with a frown. Basil chuckled and handed her the fishes.
You know, if he can lower down his walls, he’ll definitely win a girl.
Basil said.
That’s harder to be done.
Maya shoved in her groceries and pulled out some euros. The rare occasion Pygmalion go out seeking for girls was when he desired a one night satisfaction and nothing more.
Give this to him.
Basil handed her a red rose.
You know he’ll threw it away,
Maya took the rose from his meaty fists.
Took it or threw it. I adore the lad.
Basil said, and waved his big hand at her. Maya smiled and waved back, Maya left his stand by the pier and took the bus home.
On the bus to Pygmalion’s majestic manor, Maya’s eyes rotated all over her surroundings. A few seats from her, a boy and a girl fell asleep on each other shoulder. A wife and husband with their daughter seated on his shoulder walked on the concrete outside. When the bus passed by a park, a boy with his head leaned on the girl’s lap under a beech tree. ‘My my, love is an everyday phenomenon and yet young master is like a cactus waiting for rain’ she thought.
Once again entering the manor, Maya left Hesperos⁶ splattering the sky with a reddish-orange tint throughout the horizon and closed the door. Hollowed of life.
Maya sighed at the ever barren and silent manor. Not wanting to be late for home, she made her path to the kitchen and prepared dinner. While cooking, Maya would dart to the dining table. Huge table with a set of eight chairs and still she can only saw Pygmalion ate alone all the time.
‘If love exists in such ordinary settings than my young master will be loved.’

Mind lost in deep concentration, Pygmalion didn’t hear Maya’s interruption. Master, your coffee is ready.
Maya said for the third times and still he’s lost in his world. She exhaled while shaking her head.
Maya set the tray on a small desk and clapped her hands. Pygmalion diverted his gaze from the chunks of wood to the old lady beneath. Pygmalion frowned. What?
he asked with annoyance.
Your coffee.
Maya smiled and pointed at her brewery.
Fine, out!
he swatted a hand.
Maya bowed and left but halted her steps at the doorway About Alessandro’s wedding,
she turned to the ignorant handsome beast on the top platform. Pygmalion eyed her with sweater-sewn eyebrows. Can I get you an escort?
she asked.
Huh?!
His eyes widened. Pygmalion dropped his chisel and climbed down from the wooden platform. What. For?
he asked before sipping his coffee.
She fiddled with her long greyish hair, Thought you don’t have to go alone.
Maya smiled at him.
Turning the cup down with a thud, Just prepare my tux!
he said to the old lady. Maya nodded, grabbing the tray away, and left him alone. Pygmalion stared at Erebos’s⁷ presence out the window and called it
