The Odd Twins is a continuation of the life and times of twins that were born minutes apart. The unique aspect of this birth is that they have different fathers. The mother was impregnated by two different men around the same time, and consequently, they may have been born with unique powers and are explicitly different in their characteristics, mannerisms, and appearances.

As if this were not enough, it turned out that the two fathers were brothers which complicated the situation, leading to a rather depressing conclusion in book 1.

Book 2 takes us further into the lives of these odd children and allows us to experience the trauma and havoc they cause. Good and evil are brought to light.

It is an enthralling tale that takes the reader to an area that has been unchartered and mind-boggling.

The lives of the players in book 1 are exploited, and many of their secrets will be revealed.

The roller coaster ride continues! Illicit and ill-conceived conception has its consequences. Enjoy the ride. Experience those consequences!

The war is over. The western allies, along with the Soviet Union, have defeated the Nazis and the tyrant, Hitler, committed suicide on April 30, 1945. He did this as a way of avoiding the same fate Mussolini had met on April 28, 1945.

Allied forces closed in on Milan. The Italian dictator Benito Mussolini was captured by Italian partisans on April 25 and executed three days later. The other Fascists, apprehended, were taken to Dongo and executed there. The bodies were taken to Milan and hung up on the Piazzale Loreto of the city.

Inspector Castelano and her partner, Guardino, were having a philosophical discussion regarding good and evil.

In a sense, Jesus and Hitler have something in common, Gina blurted.

Wow! What a ridiculous statement if ever one was made! He turned his head to the side to make certain no one heard his partner make such a crude comparison.

I know, the comparison of the two would make someone infuriated. I am not implying that they are similar or that they are both evil and good. I am simply stating that they have something in common. Jesus was considered to be King of the Jews and Hitler was known as King of the Nazis. Our beloved Jesus represented all that is good and suffered on the cross so our sins would be forgiven. On the other side of the spectrum is Hitler who represented all that is considered to be evil. I mean, look at how many Jewish people he had murdered. This was a man who was pure evil and had no regard for human life and could care less about sin.

Why are you even bringing this up? Have you lost it? He again glances around the small dilapidated eatery to see if anyone was staring at them. He picks up a glass containing red wine and takes a rather large slug.

No! I have not lost it! I am just making a comparison because the two remind me of the Odd Twins. It seems one is good and one evil.

And how do you know that? You hardly know the Twins.

Are you kidding? I see them in my head and I feel their presence. I can tell that one of them is evil and the other good.

Yea! So which one is evil?

He fills his fork with spaghetti and begins to chew.

Like the spaghetti? I can make it better!

She picks up her fork, breaks a meatball in half, and begins to chew.

Like the meatball? I can make it better!

    They both laugh.

So tell me which one is evil?

I am not sure, but if I had to guess, I would say it’s Damian.

She picks up a wine glass and puts it to her lips and begins to sip it slowly. As she does so, she eyeballs her partner. Not realizing it, she is rolling her tongue on the edge of the glass and licking it as if it were anything but a glass.

And what makes you think that?

He is very moved by her sexual demeanor and finds that his private part is posturing, ready for action. Swerving in his seat, he suddenly excuses himself and heads for the bathroom. As he rises, he places his hand over the posturing giant and moves toward the bathroom.

Gina was totally aware of his condition and gave him a huge grin. She stops licking the glass and, as if in a hypnotic state, slowly turns toward a window on her left and stares out as if someone was glaring back. She is not certain, but she is sure that it was not her conscious intention to lick the glass and excite her partner.

Antonio returns and finds his partner in a state of awe. She does not respond to his presence and continues to stare out the window. He sits and simply stares at her. After a short while, she slowly turns toward him and glares into his eyes with a sense of trepidation.

What is wrong, Gina, are you okay? He stands and approaches her.

    One of them was here.

    Here?

He turns his head and looks around the small eatery. Not seeing anything unusual, he grabs her by the shoulder and forcefully yanks her out of the seat. As he is doing so, he knocks down a glass of wine, and due to her resistance, he knocks down the plate of spaghetti.

Other patrons and employees are staring at the not so dynamic duo.

He takes several coins and a bill from his pocket and throws them on the table. It may have been an excessive amount. They are soon sitting in the police vehicle with Antonio in the driver’s seat.

    You know I always drive.

    He ignores her comment.

I think you are really losing it. What the hell happened back there?

I’m not sure! I felt as if someone were contacting me and calling for my help. At the same time, I also felt that someone was making me lick the glass in an unusual manner. I am not certain it was one of the twins or a young female.

Young female! That is a new one! You must be nuts!

I certainly am not! Perhaps you need to chill and take what I am experiencing more seriously.

Chill? How can I? What does that even mean? How do you come out with these things? Nothing you say makes any sense.

Are you going to report me? If you do, I surely will not kiss you again.

They both laugh. Antonio steps on the gas and the vehicle screeches away.

Will you give me a five-shot?

He is recalling when she first introduced the five-shot to him. They side glance and laugh.

Soon, the two inspectors are sitting behind their desks. The experience they have gone through, and the fact that they had to take a human life, has undoubtedly left them with a feeling of remorse. Though a long period of time has passed, the agony still lingers.

The lead inspector is typing a report and occasionally stares over at her partner. She is titillated by his masculine appearance, and she can’t seem to forget what he said when she suggested that the kiss she gave him would never happen again. His reply was a simple We will see!

Numerous months have gone by, and though tempted, she has kept her distance. After all, she was not the type to see two men at the same time. Or was she? The therapist was enough to handle, and satisfying his sexual appetite was enough for any woman to bear. The relationship with Gino was kept secret. The question of confidentiality always played in her mind.

Unexpectedly, her handsome well-dressed partner turned and made direct eye contact. She immediately turned face down in an attempt to avoid his eyes. Too late! He took notice of her glare and smiled.

As if pretending not to notice, she again began to type. Unable to resist, her head turns to the right and she is again glaring at him. He pretends not to notice and turns his head toward the superior’s office.

Their superior officer sticks his head through the office door and signals for Castelano to join him.

Gina gives her partner another side glance and then enters the office. Antonio gives her a weird smirk and gives her a salute. Both laugh. They are not aware that the supervisor saw the hand gesture and the side glances they were swapping.

    Have a seat, Inspector!

She obeys the order without question.

We have to go over a few things. You know that it is department policy to have any officer involved in a shooting evaluated by a department therapist.

Does that mean I will have to go and see Mr. Magaddino again?

    Why? Does that upset you?

He gives her a strange look.

Well, it is not what I live for.

    She stirs in her seat.

Would you rather see someone else?

No! He seems to be fair and very professional.

Her face is a bit twisted.

Okay then, it’s settled, you will see him. I will set up the appointment.

The superior officer is a no-nonsense boss whose only interest is to get the job done and to get it done right. He has been known to reassign personnel over a simple violation of department policy.

Finding out about her relationship with the therapist would surely get her reassigned—perhaps to traffic duty in full uniform. This has caused her great concern, and at times, she has thought about ending the relationship with Gino. The therapist, on the other hand, was not the least concerned and insisted it would be okay. Though Gina knew it had to end, she could not bring herself to terminate the relationship with this hunk of a man who always appeared to be intoxicated but does not drink.

    Okay! Got it, boss.

I read through your report regarding the Joey Case, and I must tell you that I am very impressed with how you and your partner closed out the case. What I need to address is why you found it necessary to make a trip to Naples and how that was relevant to solving the case?

She twists in her seat. I went to Naples on my own time and conducted an off-duty investigation regarding the Odd Twins. I needed to know more about them and what kind of influence they were having over me and others. I could not get them out of my head, and as you can see by the report I submitted, Dr. Savastino suggested to me that the twins were the product of two different fathers and that may have caused them to have special powers.

Special powers! What? Like Superman or something?

    They both laugh.

No, nothing like that! At least not that we know of. More like the ability to enter people’s minds and take control of them—make them do as they wish and possibly move objects with their minds.

Do you believe that is possible?

I didn’t, but after speaking with Dr. Savastino and Dr. Cavalieri, my mind has changed and now I am a believer.

Your trip to Naples substantiated that theory?

Not a theory! I personally felt as if they were in my head, and that was affecting my ability to close the Joey Case.

That was not in the therapist’s report. Ummmm, I wonder why not?

Perhaps he did not feel it was affecting my ability to do my job.

Is that right? By the way, did he tell you that?

Not in so many words, but he did suggest that maybe I should look at the possibility of being influenced by the twins. She flirts with a quick vision of the grotesque pictures in her apartment.

Okay! So you went to see Dr. Savastino, identified yourself as an inspector, and then slyly maneuvered him into giving you information that could have been considered confidential.

She shakes her head and the pictures are no more.

I must admit that is exactly what happened, but no confidentiality rules were violated. She twists in her seat and smirks.

The special division (a unit set up to specifically investigate police misconduct) will have to make that determination, but it sounds to me that you are on safe ground. After seeing Savastino, you went to Naples to see a Dr. Cavalieri, Chief of Staff, at a place called Gifted Child Center and pretended to be a research student. Is that correct?

    Yes! It is.

According to your report, you were taken on a tour of the center and discovered that there have been other cases of a similar nature and that children born of similar circumstances were kept isolated in order to protect the public. Is that right?

Yes! It is. She is now fidgeting in her seat, almost as if wanting to escape.

You also recommended that the children of the deceased, both fathers, be placed in this center for evaluation and possible placement.

    Yes.

Have you followed up on that recommendation?

Yes! I have. Three months after the disaster at the Gaetano’s home, the entire remaining immediate family and a woman, the mother’s aunt, were considered EDPS (emotionally disturbed persons) and were considered a threat to themselves and others. Consequently, they were remanded to separate facilities. The Twins were sent to the Gifted Child Center and the others were placed in a special care facility and released after a nine- month mandatory stay.

Regarding Carmella, the children’s grandmother, you state in your report that you visited her about two weeks after the incident and found her to be devastated and almost oblivious. Can you tell me more about that?

Sure! I found her to be very unconcerned about life, and she was acting as if life had no purpose. It was as if she just wanted to perish. The death of her husband, Giuseppe, along with the deaths of her children, and the placement of her family in facilities left her with little or no will to live.

Approximately a year later, she took her life by not eating.

Yea! Her body was discovered several weeks after my visit. It had been eaten by various animals and what was left had been eaten away by maggots. The body, at least what was left of it, was discovered at her farm house in Caserta.

By the way, who discovered the body?

A man named Alberto had gone to the house with the intent of making an offer on the property. That is what he stated. It had been put up for sale. She could no longer handle the farm nor did she have the desire. It was agreed that when Maria was released, Carmella would sell her home and move in with her.

Can you imagine what that must have been like for Alberto? The poor man found the door of the house open, and upon entry, his first vision was that of Carmella’s body, what remained of it, at least that’s what he stated. Unfortunately, she starved herself to death before Maria’s release. Poor Alberto! Did he buy the house? How old was Alberto, and what did he look like?

"Yes! She starved herself to death, and
