    Leila sighed loudly as she placed her empty glass on the small table beside her.

    What’s up? her best friend Becky asked her.

    I hate my life, Leila responded in a tone that suggested this should have been obvious to Becky. It wasn’t.

    Becky snorted as she half sat up and looked around her. The two women were laid on padded sun loungers beside the crystal clear infinity pool, the hot afternoon sun beating down on them. It was like something from a holiday brochure.

    A uniformed waiter hurried over to them, bringing them fresh cocktails and taking the finished glasses away.

    Thanks, said Leila, not looking up at him. She waited for him to return to the house.

    What’s the snort for? she asked Becky.

    All of this, Becky answered as she gestured in a rough circle around them. The mansion, the pool, the social life. Not to mention the designer wardrobe. You’re living the dream and then you say you hate it. I just don’t get it.

    Leila shook her head sadly. The dream was to have all of this and share it with the man I love. I don’t love Max.

    So leave, Becky said with a shrug. It’s not like he’s holding you a prisoner is it.

    It’s not that simple.

    Why not. It couldn’t be much simpler. You don’t like where you are, you leave.

    Leila sat up and turned sideways to face Becky. She pulled her Chanel sunglasses down and peered at her over the top of them.

    She sighed again. You wouldn’t understand.

    Try me.

    This is going to sound bad, but I can’t leave Max because of all the things you just said. You know the lifestyle. I like it too much to walk away and become a nobody again.

    Becky sat up too and looked at her friend. "It does sound bad, but it’s hardly news
