About this ebook
When Lieutenant Corban McAlister returned from Afghanistan, he was awarded with the gold medal of honour for his heroic deeds whilst serving in the military. If only he felt as heroic. Despite the fact that he saved so many lives, he had to also deal with loss. Ridden with guilt, he was slipping further into depression.
And with the arrival of his ex-girlfriend Alley Jamison, things changed drastically. Having dated when they were both at university, Corban had made the call to end the relationship after he enlisted in the military. He was completely convinced that she would have moved on, but he was so wrong.
Alley never really got over Corban, and when she bumped into him by chance, all her feelings came flooding back. Desperate to reach out, to him she offers him a shoulder to lean on, but it would take more than broken pipes and lunch dates.
Corban tries to live with is guilt, while Alley tries to break down his defenses, but that would take nothing short of a miracle.

Heal His Heart - Natalie Moore
Chapter 1
Corban sat quietly at the dinner table as he stared blankly at his plate of food. His dad as usual sat at the head of the table, with his mother at the other end. The empty space across from him felt as if it could swallow him whole.
You have no reason to blame yourself for what happened,
his father said quietly.
He heard him, but he didn’t respond; the morbid sense of sorrow that flooded him was suffocating him slowly.
You’re a hero Corban, what you did to save those boys...
Mother please, I’m no hero so just drop it,
he said flatly but immediately recoiled at his cold reaction and reached for her hand, I just don’t want to talk about it okay?
He had returned from war a hero in the public eye, having been awarded a gold medal for bravery had overshadowed everything else. The community in the small town where he lived was overwhelmed at his return, but deep down his own actions haunted him daily. It had been two weeks since he moved back into society, to try and pick up the broken pieces of his life and it felt like no-one had the slightest inclination as to how he really felt.
After dinner he headed out, he needed space and his temporary home felt like a prison.
