Tanya is an art curator and collector, successful in career but not in love. Going to an exhibition by a local artist, she purchases a painting which showcases a portrait of the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on. CHAPTER ONE

The Oakland Museum was Tanya's most favorite place in the world. It brought back a lot of nostalgia as her father used to take her there almost every other week to check out the latest artwork in the gallery.

Her wanted Tanya to grow up to be a creative, he didn't know in what capacity but he wanted her to be in the creative arts in some way. It's the only way you'll be happy,  he told her once. You have to create something. Don't go the corporate route.

Tanya did paint but didn't secure a living as an artist. She became a curator for a small art gallery in nearby Alameda.

She eagerly anticipated the day Jacqueline Hanks would come to the Oakland Museum. Her water color portraits consisted of people from all walks of life. Jackie Hanks had paintings of cats, dogs and people. Tanya didn't have a whole lot of money but she wanted to take at least one of Jackie's renowned paintings home with her. Or at least get a replica print.

She wanted to get Jackie alone and pick her brain a bit. Talking with the artist had been one of her favorite pastimes in visiting galleries. She knew it could be pretentious but she legitimately enjoyed hearing the thought process of the artist in queston.
