Jeni Wittrock is a resident of Mankato, Minnesota, a city about 30 miles south of her hometown, New Ulm. She studied poetry and nonfiction at Minnesota State University Mankato and graduated in 2005 with a MFA in creative writing. This was cute enough, though even for infants (as distinct from my highly verbal toddler) I think I'd've been adding in flourishes ("He was hiding UNDER THE BRIDGE! He was hiding BEHIND THE TREE!" It's train cars and they're hiding), because the repetition they clamour for would still be there and the lack of any variation whatsoever, as at present, is dispiriting.
