    Introduction

Though I am a Sephardic Jew (my Jewish ancestors were expelled from Spain during the Spanish Inquisition in 1492) and I also have the privilege of being a licensed tour guide of Israel since 1984, I am far from being an authority on the Negev. Some people call me Prophet and if so, then I am qualified by the Almighty to cast vision towards what I consider to be the most important piece of Land besides Jerusalem in the world! It covers up to 55% of the land allotted to modern day Israel. Most of it dry and desolate, a vast wilderness of 4600 square miles, only to be interrupted by the Biblical and Patriarchal City of Abraham, Beer Sheba. Others like Dimona and Mitspe Ramon are defying all heat and abrasiveness of the elements and are still there surviving and reviving. Culminating in the miraculous apparition, the City of Eilat, that has become the hottest holiday resort of Israel and the Middle East, both because of its climate (all the way up to 50 degrees centigrade in the summer) and because of its amazing beauty!

Our national Israeli Poet, late HayimNachmanBialik, said in one of his poems:
