About this ebook

Welcome to the Cape Diem Bed & Breakfast where the wedding season has come in like a lion. A man-eating, spit’em out Bridezilla that has left wedding planner extraordinaire, Marigold Dee, in a pickle. Now, she’s left with two choices: either tame the lion or end up in the Magic Pokey.

Samuel Walden has been caught in the ugliest shit storm of the millennium. Being a twin is costing him his sanity. His sister is getting married and lost her ever-loving mind. Not to mention, their parents are missing in action and have stopped answering her calls. Guess it’s a good thing he’s handy with power tools because they might be his only saving grace.

Amy Gregory

When asked ‘when do you have time to write’, Amy Gregory simply laughs.  The real answer is, “in bits and pieces”.  She and her husband live in Kansas City with their three fantastic kids that keep them running in three very different directions.  Because she sits so much, she always carries a notebook with her at all times. She has an off the wall, snarky, off the cuff sense of humor that often shocks even those who’ve known her for years.  And she loves that her children have all been blessed that ability to make others laugh as well.  At least she’s grateful most of the time!  Her husband often teases her about how she “makes this stuff up” when he’s reading a piece of her work. … The answer—“it just comes to me when I’m typing”. Scary thought, huh!

    Chapter 1

Marigold Dee headed home to the Carpe Diem Bed and Breakfast. One of her familiars, a sweet little Yorkie, named Berry was by her side. Thursday was her favorite day and always started with a trip to the flower shop on the square. Mortals wouldn’t get five steps into the flower shop for multiple reasons. First, it appeared to be vacant with no vibrant flowers to buy, only dried out stems with missing petals despite the name on the building. That was if they saw the minuscule sign for the town of Assjacket, West Virginia. If they did exit the highway, everything was purposely run down and just plain ugly.

However, for immortal residents of the town, they saw beyond the town abandonment knowing it was what kept them safe. Yet inside each dilapidated building and home were magical doors or hidden staircases that led to a hidden world of bright colors, beautiful architecture and wonderful friends of all sizes, ages and species.

Marigold took a left at the shriveled-up daisies and walked behind the counter. Taking care to watch her step on a rickety staircase, she pushed the button underneath the dirty door handle. The automatic door swept open and the combination of numerous flowers, all smelling simply divine, wafted out. Someday the greenhouse her brother had built her would look this vibrant. In the meantime, she was very content with its progress and loved each of her little lovely babies she’d grown from seeds. Today, though, she was here on very serious business.

In less than seventy-two hours, she and her siblings had to prep for the first wedding of the season. But if she were being honest, they were eager to get it over with. Spring and summer were beautiful in West Virginia. It wasn’t too hot that the bride’s hair went into frizzball mode. No one fainted, at least not from the weather. And the rain was something they could talk to Mother Nature about and pencil in on the calendar.

The only bad part of wedding season was the brides. Most were wonderful, a bit nervous about the big day, but kind. However, the bridezilla starting off this season was one of a kind, and definitely the worst Marigold had ever had to work with.

When it came to Carpe Diem, her younger brother, Rox, and her oldest sibling, Joanna, split the work evenly with her. Joanna’s love and natural talent were in the kitchen. Another place the bride was wreaking havoc. Rox in this situation kept his head down. A jack of all trades, he just took orders from his sisters and tried to avoid the entire fiasco.

It wasn’t that Samantha Walden was trying to be a pain in every single person’s patooshie, at least that was the lie still running through Marigold’s head. Maintaining the gigantic amount of positivity, it took to deal with Miss Walden, was quickly dwindling her energy level. It’d be a lot easier to deal with Samantha if she was from somewhere in California. Yet, her family lived only about a half hour away. Marigold didn’t know them, but several members of the town were groaning about the entire production already.

Marigold made her way up and down the aisles. Water dripped on the floor, pooling in the black plastic holes of the mat under her feet. This bride was picky down to the tiniest details. She wanted pale yellow and blush colored baby’s breath—everywhere. Joanna, Rox and she had sat down plugging in measurements,
