Sona Van
A native of Yerevan, Armenia, Sona Van (née Ter-Hovhannisian) has authored four volumes of poetry, Pshrankner (Slivers, 1999), Yes anun chunem (I Have No Name, 2003), Yes dzain em lsum (I Hear a Voice, 2006) and Chara anunov trchune (A Bird Called Chara, 2010), which have been translated into more than a twenty languages, establishing her as a poet of great significance. She has been awarded gold medals from the Armenian Ministries of Culture and Diaspora and from the Golden Apricot Film Festival. Also a recipient of the Ianicius Literary Prize and The California Chamber of Commerce acknowledged her with a Woman in Literature Award. She was the receipient of the Armenian Presidential "Movses Khorenatsi" medal for her contributions in preserving the Armenian identity abroad. She also received the Homer Prize - The European Medal of Poetry and Arts and in 2019 she was the recipient of the 1573 International Poetry Prize in China. More: www.SonaVan.com
