My purpose for writing this book is to bring awareness to Crohn’s disease. I also want people to know it is a crisis—a chronic disease—and to explain my walk and my journey through life.
This book is dedicated to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who walks beside me every minute of the day.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Loretta D Eastwood. I am a sixty-three-year-old white female of Puerto Rican and Italian descent. Growing up, I lived in a foster home in Valhalla, New York, with Jennie Baker, my mom, and Frank Baker, my foster father, whom I am forever grateful for. My foster parents were born in Poland and migrated to the United States, and they spoke fluent Polish to each other. Growing up, I had two foster sisters and four foster brothers.
My childhood was very good. I had a great deal of fun with my brothers and sisters. We played many games, such as baseball, kickball, and dodgeball.
I also remember playing hide-and-seek with the neighbor children and my brothers and sisters until dusk. We also played red rover, red rover; red light, green light; holding hands; and London Bridge and Ring around the Rosie. Hopscotch was in at that time; other games included jump rope, Tag You’re It, and spinning around until you were
